The Pats 3rd string QB battle is actually huge rn, Malik winning probably means he's on the active game day roster to do Taysom Hill-esc things. If Trace somehow ends up beating him out, he'll probably be a weekly inactive unless Mac or Zappe get hurt, meaning someone else will get the active game day roster spot
I like watching preseason because it gives guys we probably won't see have an opportunity and there's no expectation of winning. Where every win is critical during the season. It's relaxing.
It's the closest football comes to baseball, giving us an ability to spread the devotion we have for athletes to more than just our predetermined favorite player. I'll add Aiden O'Connell of the Raiders to this list of surprising preseason star performances. In his case though, _WOW!!!_ He was genuinely great! (Weirdly, he physically resembles Derek Carr while wearing the colors & he's using his old # to boot).
