The Bible is not meant to be read page by page. Go to Mass. Listen to God's Word in an organized fashion with the priest's teaching as your guide. Do not try to read the Bible cover to cover. Three years of Mass will give you the whole Bible in a way that is palatable in a supportive environment.

On the upside the movie Gone with the Wind was three hours and 58 minutes, so I suppose two hours and 18 minutes being less time than that is a plus, and, since it is not 3:58 I won't need to mutter Clark Gable's famous line. None of this is to say I disliked the video and such, it's just LONG - too long for one sitting. Worthwhile, but an edited version might be nice as well. Just a thought, since this is my third or fourth visit to the video to continue watching and I am only about 54 minutes in. Will I ever finish watching? Even I don't know. At some point I began to feel like they are forcing me to read Beowulf all over again. No offence meant, but man it's long.

Maynooth is where faith and vocation go to die. Bishops would do well to do a Jesuit style and send priests abroad to study.
Maynooth has a tendency to give the impression that faith is a collection of propositions and is a bit weak on the Resurrection ...the Jesuits put the questions one might meet in the real world ...I think I can recognise a Maynooth man fairly easily at a liturgy.

Thank you.....Excellent interview! I will disagree however on the Maynooth point. They NET lads are lovely men but very naive as they are young lads who have never really lived in the real world, Jobs, girlfriends, responsibilities, overheads. They see the good in everyone and are not street wise enough to see that Maynooth has serious issues. Unless you form yourself in during your time there your not going to learn anything or worse still youll compromise the true faith. Only for RUclips channels such as Fr Brendans Etc. Etc., seminarians wouldn't stand a chance. It needs a radical over hall
The ages of the alumni range from 36 down to 21. A year of mission is a pressure cooker where they see a lot of life. Seeing the best of people and situations could be considered naive or also Christian. "Love believes all things...."

@@tonyfoy2471 I did listen. Racism is a spell word, as John Waters said, designed to shut us up as we get replaced. When our own children are being grabbed in the street by these people who hate us, we have a major problem. Niall is a great fella and you should vote for him. Jesus is not calling us to be fools, we have a right to our own homeland.

The Ireland 2040 is a real government plan that says all the populations of cities, towns and villages outside of Dublin will double by 2040. How would they know this unless it is planned for and we are not having enough children of our own and our young people immigrating in huge numbers every year?
Sadly the greatest percentage of abuse by clergy were homosexual acts by homosexual clergy but it was ignored. Why? Was it because a large number of clergy and bishops were and are pro Lgbt... whose objective is to normalize what the Church terms a "disordered desire"?
Very disappointing interview, Fr Brendan Kilcoyne was spokesman for the Archbishop of Tuam when there were widespread calls for his resignation over his scandalous handling of sex abuse cases. The Tuam Diocese along with Ferns has the worst record for allowing Priests against whom serious complaints were made to remain in ministry. Dr Michael Neary defended his decision to allow two priests to continue saying Mass and administer the sacraments while under Garda investigation for alleged sexual assaults on two women.
Dr Neary had concealed from the people the fact that he had allowed two clerics facing serious sexual misconduct complaints to continue duties bringing them into contact with women, children and the elderly.
Dr Neary was forced to remove the two priests temporarily from ministry, pending the outcome of inquiries since in his capacity as patron of a large school, he allowed a principal to retain his post, despite a Western Health Board conclusion that this person probably sexually abused a boy of eight. Fr Kevin Hegarty, the well-known, universally-liked and highly respected priest of the diocese of Killala called on the Government to carry out a national Ferns-style audit into the scale of sexual abuse by clergy. .
FR HEGARTY quoted the famous saying of the legendary American boxer, Joe Louis, that "in the boxing ring you can run but you cannot hide".
In 1990 Michael Neary, then lecturer in the New Testament at St Patrick's College Maynooth, published a pious book, titled 'Our Hide-and-Seek God - Priesthood and the Word of God'.
Archbishop Neary must realise that he can no longer play hide and seek with a people who, in Fr Hegarty's words regarding the hierarchy in general, "are deeply shocked that the Church, often a stern dispenser of moral teaching, especially regarding sexuality, has been evasive and inept".
Fr Brendan Kilcoyne did not address, nor was he asked about his role at the time, instead outrageously he lauds the disgraced Archbishop and goes on to piously condemn milk and water Catholics to hell .Kilcoyne should be reminded of Luke 17:2
It is better for him if a millstone is hung around his neck and he is thrown into the sea, than that he may cause one of these little ones to sin.

I think there are some who think that, but most think that the British, or white people, especially white men, are the root of all evil, and that is horribly wrong. Evil and good struggle for supremacy in every human heart, in every nation and in every civilisation. I am an indigenous Irish man and my people suffered for centuries under the tyrannical power of the English government. I am proud of my forbears who fought against injustice and I KNOW that modern English people are in no way responsible for that injustice. After doing a bit of research (not very much) I found out that most English people were tyrannised by the government of the barons just as we were.
Some, but not most.
I worked in England for over 25 years and the English were the most honest people I have met. I had wonderful people I worked for and couldn’t say a bad word about them, and I have many friends…….so wrong to tar everyone with the same brush is wrong.
