I habent yet tried it, I'm just getting an idea of what I need. But I did try fermenting for the first time this summer, and it turned out great!

This is such wise advice and has been my experience also. It seemed so overwhelming to me at first when I started to be healthier, and then I just took it to God and asked him what the most important thing was that I needed to learn for better health. He has always been so faithful in taking me to the next thing as our family needed it. It truly is baby steps.

    Be Adventurous!!!
Yes, learn a little at a time. Trying to learn/do everything right at the start is a good way to fail.
As one learns/practices a thing, it gets easier and faster every time it's practiced.
I like to refer to a tank installation I was doing once. I was given a blueprints and told, "Go install them!" no other directions.
It took me over 2 hours to get the first tank installed.
One hour for the second tank.
1/2 hour each for the third and fourth tank.
All installations were equally complicated, it's just that there's a learning curve with everything.
No beginner is going to be as efficient and produce as good results as someone whose done the thing many times.

I’m so glad you put this video out there. My first “tinctures” were actually flavorings for baking… vanilla, coffee, strawberry… Then I branched into medicinal tinctures, both with alcohol and oils. A funny story is when I had groceries delivered one time, I had a bottle of vodka delivered with it. The guy says oh a party coming up? I said no, it’s for a pain tincture. He says vodka can do that. I laughed and told him that after the herbs infuse, I only need a dropper full to get rid of a migraine. He was impressed. I do have a lot of different herbs infusing in oils right now. Some I have plans for, some I don’t, but they will be ready when I want to use them. A tip, if you don’t have room for jars infusing, put a small bookcase in your closet. Thank you Heidi! If I'd have known how easy making vinegar is, I would have done it years ago! 😊 When I make a new batch now, I smile and send you love and blessings.
I do occasionally still buy a few bars of soap from local people or buy a loaf of bread. I appreciate and support our local artisans. For myself, I was always uncomfortable selling my soap. I would have liked someone else to do that. ☺️
    Blessings always! 💜

AMEN Heidi! We' happen to be around the same age. Many of us were raised by parents,& relatives that grew up surviving pre/post WW2 where they saved, salvaged , repaired, re-purlose etc. Generations living off the land and gained multiple skills.
Growing up and maturing under that umbrella makes a huge impact. The benefit of our generation is we learned many practices and mostly at our desire
    - Craftsmanship, engineering,, the arts, etc.
If there's a way to keep this video tagged with future videos, this would be so helpful and encouraging. You're approach and format is on point. You're an excellent teacher and we all are blessed as the result!

Hi Heidi, because of you ,I now make the skin salve, vinegars, ferment starters, elderberry syrup. I make my own laundry detergent and all I use for a softener is white vinegar. I'm starting a quilt top.. I've been sewing for years l love crafty things, and the best part is it is good for our health. I could write a book on all the things I've tried and want to try. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Hugs to you.

Good morning Heidi! I so enjoy trying new things. I am getting a Cosori and quite excited about it. My desire is to use the herbs and flowers I grow for medicinal purposes, not just for food. I wish that is was growing season, but during this winter I'll be able to get myself organized as to what I want to do with making my own tinctures, salves, creams and soaps. I have been slowly going through your previous videos, there is so much! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Have a good day!!!

I love your videos and have learned how to make so many things from you. I am trying to make mead right now, as I don't care for using vodka in most of my extracts. I enjoy learning new things. Sometimes I fail miserably. Even so, I learn from it. Case in point, vinegar. I failed repeatedly making vinegar. Gave up for a while. I saw your video and decided to try again using your method. Now I make it all the time! I am often surprised that people are so afraid to try new things. I may be 'old' but I hope I never stop learning and trying new things!

Heidi, I was sick for seven weeks, from mid-Sept. thru end of October, and still have a residual cough every so often. Obviously, there is a bug going around. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better, though! You have taught me so many things that I'm grateful for. I remember the first two or three times I made vinegar and I thought I did it wrong, so kept throwing it out! Turns out I just didn't wait long enough for it to fully ferment or thought the kham was mold, so I threw it away. I kept trying, and watching more of your vinegar videos, and now I have several different flavors of vinegar!!

Thank you again. This time last year I was something close to anxious over 'needing to learn it all'. Just taking a deep breath in and realizing that God Himself didn't do everything in one day and taking one step at a time is really the only way to get anywhere on a journey of learning. You're such an encouragement to all of us who watch your videos. You have taught me a lot and I thank you.

I agree! Overwhelmed is a thing! I have always 14:01 and DIY. Yet in.the last 10 years, i have suddenly become a chicken! I am not sure how it happened, honest. I think it is a side effect with mental statements and health Crisis, etc. Subconsious becsme scared, in the process! It took me a long time, watching many videos, for me to get started! I still have the issue. Each yime i plan to Do? It pops its ugly head up again! But i have managed to Stock up, increase equipment, stock organic and heirloom seeds, start making tinctures from local plants, get more freezers full, buy solar panels and converters (lacking batteries!), extra gas, filters and oil and lightbulbs for car, get in solar charging lights, etc etc. I even paid for my youngest daughter to get her Drivers License, because my driving leg is disintegrating! Being in countryside, requires a driver! Will i be okay, if everything crashes? No. But i do have a big chance! Lol i have moved into the pressure canning of soups, do i have meals available. I have gathered books to help on subjects. Bought an antique pedal sewing machine. Covered lots of angles. Best i can do, is TRY. 14:01

Thank you. I’m getting there with the courage to not overdose myself lol. I’m discouraged with so many things that are not recommended because of hypothyroidism, including something so simple as horseradish. The thyroid dr doesn’t even know what lemon balm or purple cone flower is. Let alone why I can’t consume it. I have never been given a list of foods that I can’t have, in 30 years of having thyroid problems. I found it out on my own through reading books about each plant. It will tell you not to use that plant but never explains why or how serious it would be if I did , wether it’s ok in small amounts or if the frequency matters. I’m trying to fix the thyroid too ❤ blessings

Not sure if anyone else feels this way. Trying to get all the ingredients to make something is expensive. So what I did was, I saved for the items and when I had the money to buy them that's when I started the process of learning how. I now can make my own body butters and lotion. My next project is hair care products. I just purchased a small dehydrator and am planning to thin my herbs, it's a start. I have been making a master tonic for a few years. Not sure where I went wrong. I tried making orange lemon vinegar but it didn't work. I will try again soon.
