When I was doing kickboxing, this guy called Adam joined the club. He was a boxer who wanted to learn kickboxing. I sparred him a few times and his hands were so fast. However he could not deal with kicks, specially side kicks to the stomach. I saw him years later and he had become huge, probably a good fighter. Though I can box pretty good, I would use kicks if I ever faced a good boxer.

    Right on Jeff!
The young man you were sparing with had good basic southpaw front lead foot dominance. Perhaps that right hook will develop into a really solid tool for him.
Great how you changed up, taking him out of position. Then, stealing his south paw advantage using it against him.
Generally, if a taller opponent has a propensity to lean back from high punches and at the same time gluing their feet to the ground, feign high but go to the body and move forward to knock them off balance. I hope that makes sense.

So what’s comfortable and what you feel is effective. There’s no one way because adjustments will be made so I’ll give some boxing examples since you mention the jab specifically.
Lomachenko uses his footwork to turn his opposition and get inside.
Floyd Mayweather deflect the jab and open his opponent for a counter
Bud Crawford fights in the opposite stance and shoots his jab with timing to throw off his opponent’s jab and open him for a counter
Bud Crawford will also fight in the opposite stance and use his head movement and distance to get off a counter
Teofimo Lopez will look for a big counter punch with his power hand while taking the hit and basically say I’ll trade your jab for my hook to discourage his opponent from throwing it.
Shakur Stevenson uses his timing and speed to beat his opponent to the punch.
There is no one good way to get around the jab. Depends on the fighter and opponent!

People using this style often lean back to avoid hits and they are very open so a feint, 1-2 steps forward with nice head movement and power hits is the way to deal with this. be patient and select your punches so as to make the difference.

Feel like this kid is relying too much on his range with messy punches. You had much more control and poise. How do you think you would have done if you fought him brawler style? Closing the distance and throwing hooks, liver shots and upper cuts-the Mike Tyson special lol

dude... what are you talking about? the guy is vicious. his lead left hook is gonna be "problems" for most people. i think the due has a crisp and tight fighting style but drops his hands only when he needs too.

@@ghklfghjfghjcvbnc lead left hook? I dont know what you are smoking, his back hand is his left hand. The boxer is throwing arm punches and drops his hands on the way
