    Japanese American here. I love how respectful you are, how you know not to eat while walking, and how your "arigato gozaimasu" is spot on. So many touring Japan videos are made by people who don't have a clue, and they're so painful to watch. I thoroughly enjoyed watching you eat your way through Japan. Thank you.

      I mean, love this channel, and he's probably a nice guy, but he really just lost all of my respect here. This is confirmation that; even if he is so wrong, he will still release a video as if he is some expert here. This makes me question his knowledge and expertise about other things. This should be titled "Guga goes to Japan and disrespects the whole country and culture"

    I love Japanese food. You've only scratched the surface.
    What I find fascinating is that many Japanese know locations by the food they are famous for. So you can either tell them where you traveled to and they will ask you if you had the famous local food or tell them the food and chances are they know where you went to.
    Case in point: Wine and peaches and Houtou.

    • @doll8part
      @doll8part 27 дней назад +9

      💯 agree! Or at least do some kind of research on what the food is. He isn't even trying at all or even saying the names. How does he not even know about even more simple things "Japanese sweet potato"...you mean ube. It's ube. I have gone to Japan a couple times now, and have friends there and I always get local perspectives for where to go. And that's just me: not someone with a bunch of money and an actual chef who is supposed to appreciate food, not to mention a RUclipsr. He clearly did zero research and it really bothers me. Japanese cuisine is hands down some of the best food on the planet. Such a shame. Also his son has such typical spoiled teenage boy Gen Z taste buds. Lol.

    • @SophieJackson1993
      @SophieJackson1993 25 дней назад +12

      @@doll8partI’m sorry but please stop being so judgemental. Some people don’t know everything about other countries’ cultures and food or they prefer going places without looking up what to do, where to go or what the accurate names of things are. Good for you, you do all those things. That’s your right. Let others do what they want. It doesn’t make them any less of a chef, RUclips personality or whatever else. Your culinary knowledge doesn’t make you superior, sorry about it. When it comes to his son, I don’t know if you know but some people don’t like certain foods. Again, it doesn’t make you superior to them. It doesn’t mean you know more about cooking or that you’re more cultured just that you have different preferences. I don’t like any of the Japanese food I’ve tried other than soy sauce and the beef. The rest personally in my opinion is repulsive. That doesn’t make my knowledge any less than your knowledge or mean that I don’t respect the hard work and discipline that goes into their food. Just calm down and try not to judge people so harshly when they just prefer another countries’ food and know more about that than another country that you favour. It’s subjective. It’s all about preference & it certainly isn’t some sort of proof that you’re a real foodie or chef just because you really like Japanese food. It isn’t objectively better than any other countries’ food and snotty people who feel entitled to judge others based on what their tastebuds prefer are just as bad as the music snobs or wine snobs putting people down for a less ‘refined’ opinion. It’s all bullshit & pretentious lies. It’s a lot more fun when people just enjoy teaching each other, learning from each other and enjoying whatever it is in front of them for the experience rather than to flex on people with memorised facts. The dude obviously really appreciates the food he’s trying, he dedicated several videos to it and almost an entire channel to their beef so the perceived disrespect is imaginary I think and his son is literally a child so chill.

      I agree with you, but this was a seriously cool experience for all of us. Sonny from Best Ever Food Review Show does a great job at finding “fixers” for wherever he’s going, but Guga just kind of winging it it just as cool in a similar, yet different way. What i find interesting in the time i stayed in japan is that, the simpler the dish is the better it taste, the master cook has so much time to master the taste and technique, I rarely indulge in alot of the touristy trap as i had a friend that is japanese that showed me around and introduce me to a lot of people (Especially Business owners) it made my stay so much more bearable. the more rusty the place looks, and if it still have customers coming in and out, that usually says a lot of the place quality and service.

    As someone who has lived in Japan over a decade I can tell you that pretty much everywhere you went was a tourist trap.
    Japanese people don’t go to tsukiji to eat, they don’t go to Kobe to eat beef. I know it makes sense for RUclips but you will find the best food in the local places in the little cities, towns and villages. (For cheap)

      @@malfiq in Tokyo; Meiji Jingu and nearby Takeshita Dori, ginza street and the emperors garden if it’s open and the surrounding area. Odaiba has a lot of attractions and things to do. If you can book you can go to the Ghibli museum which isn’t that far from Tokyo in a place called mitaka. Other things in Tokyo are asakusa shrine (don’t buy stuff there it’s over priced) and ueno park. The sky tree will burn your time, so don’t bother (it’s really expensive too), but if you want to have a good view go to the metropolitan building(free) or the Mori tower (money)

    I wish u could get wagyu beef and egg together. In America, it's so amazing looking. Makes me want to go to Japan. Plus the sushi. Amazing. And there 7-11s. Bless u and son.

    The green powder at Kura Sushi was matcha not wasabi 😂
    Wasabi comes in little plastic packagings on the conveyor belt.

    20:50 I agree, but here in America, we have situations that occur. Splashing, handshaking, children, adults who act like children. It's a great idea, but it's risk. Great video

    Tsukuji street is obviously have a higher food price. Everything on the first part I think it is little expensive compare to other place in Tokyo.

    The chef with crazy energy that went to pee reminds me of Hattori Hanzo from Kill Bill Vol 1. I love his energy.
