This is the best vst drum kit I've ever heard. I've always loved Mario's ride bell sound as there's this really obnoxious kinda "TANG" sound that I love! The toms sound absolutely massive too
When i ran this through a very agressive compressor OTT. On some samples, it's possible to hear someone calling out the individual hits. Which is funny.
To Taylor Larson: Well I'm sorry if I touched some sort of soft spot about your product, but that's exactly how the drums and cymbals sound on this video, so either the presets aren't that good or fluff didn't set it up correctly, so...? Seriously, not trying to be a dick or anything but You can hear very clearly each individual crash hit and also the "clicky" attack before each hit, the effect is more noticeable on louder hits and when the drums are played on solo it's VERY, VERY noticeable, and yes, I'm commenting based on what I heard on this video plus the soundcloud samples on your site, which I listened to yesterday, and my opinion about the product hasn't changed, I know all you guys who developed this plugin are total pros and would school me any day on audio engineering and music, in fact I would love to learn from you guys, but at the end of the day I'm just stating my honest opinion about a product, not trying to be a hater or insult you guys.

@@apoplexiamusic It's pretty much mix ready (for the stuff I do I'd say even over produced to shit). But Invasion just sounds plain awesome, especially that 12 inch snare.
gotta admit... this one looks and sounds killer!! I am curious to know how simple this kit is to route into Reaper... unlike GGD where the lack of help with a "non-industry" standard DAW like Reaper leaves a lot to be desired. But then again, it is Kontakt so nothing is easy.
Yeah, I still haven’t gotten around to mixing drums because of this. I’ve found tutorials but my time is already limited enough as it is when it comes to creativity, so it’s hard to use that time for that task when I’m just making music and recording demos for me and my friends to hear haha.
Ya I would like to know this question also .I'm new to kontakt so RUclips videos aren't helping much. I bring up ezdrummer and drop the midi files from there. But for some reason urgitone midi will not trigger which saids its supported by Kontakt. So I'm at a loss
No, and the key map is different...mostly the cymbals. What you can do is drag your midi groove out of Toontrack into the Track that has your Mix Wave plugin instantiated and move the notes around.
@@seancausey6711 thx for the reply. That actually sucks if you can't really use libraries. Then I don't see the point of getting this plug-in. Doesn't sound much better than what you have with EZ drummer 2 and superior drummer seems to be king still
@@apotra20xx I am afraid I misspoke. After playing around with it more I found that there is a drop down in the settings where you can change the midi map to match EZ Drummer...so there's that. Overall, I like this plugin for my Frankenstein drum kit.
This why metal never goes mainstream. New bands just steal sounds from already big bands . It keeps bands from finding their own sound . It’s so refreshing to hear real drums now because of this
Take a listen to this plugin and then go listen to any Gojira album. They do not sound the same. If you think you can get the same exact drum mix with this plugin alone, you are mistaken.
hello from Australia!!! i just wanted to ask something real quick. i'm in a punk band and i'm trying to get my rig set up. i love the tone from blink 182 but i cant afford a mesa at all. i had a look at the ENGL screamer and thought it sounded amazing. i would also be paring it up with my marshal origin. do you think this would be a good sound put together? i think it would cause id make the ENGL as heavy sounding as i can and have the marshal fairly clean but with a lot of mid range. what your opinion and what suggestions do you have for me?
I have SD3 and i love It! This vst seems crazy but not knowing kontact at all I wonder how it works! How do you write the drum parts, type SD3? Are there any midi libraries like Toontrack? Thanks for the answers!
I'm a toontrack user also. From my understanding, he said you can route the midi layout to toontrack layout. So I'm pretty sure say you have your midi track set up with superior/EZdrummer in your DAW. Just replace the toontrack kit with this mixwave kit and should match up with the toontrack midi layout. This snare and kick sounds sick, I'm going to get this plugin.
@@Bking7string Thanks for your answer! From what I understand then I can write the score of the drum with SD3 in standalone version, then I import it as a track in the daw and at that point I load the mixwave vst with its sounds. Got it right?
I have the hardest time programming drums. Do you build your song with midi's and write riffs over that or do you write riffs then programming the drums. I'm trying to program with iRig Pads and its confusing
When I'm writing demos or tracks, I usually just record the guitar parts first or some riffs and draw in the drums after. What really helps in the writing process is having a general idea of what drumming you want in the track and just drumming in general.
@@ThePatricius12345 dude it was insane, they were with knocked loose and I was able to rage out with knocked loose and then get lost in the sauce with Gojira. Tonaly they were incredible. I love it but just can't get with the one shot sound of everything. There are pretty much zero dynamic options with this plugin. You can lower the velocity somewhat which only lowers the volume a smidge, once you get passed a certain point the huge one shot sound vanishes and your left with a dull hit but it's the same one shot sample, just lower in volume. I can see my self using the TCI's with Trigger2 to supplement my drum mix but not as a stand alone kit in a full production. Great for tracking a demo or something or if you just want that perfectly robotic sounding drum kit. To me, dynamic drums are very important especially when using a drum VST.
@@christophermcclelland1556 The trouble with ggd is you can get 3 ggd plugins, but all overprocessed, without raws. If you need a versatile ggd drums library you must pay this same price!
Not bad not bad but Mario doesn't sound like this at all... it could be his signature drum kit but snare sounds way compressed, the natural attack is lost, and don't hear enough convincing round robins for that particular "sensible" element of the kit. Also I hear too much reverb already printed within the samples, but need to check this out. Nice sounding overall and gorgeous GUI by the way.
That’s the beauty of the plug-in though! Every hit is him and you can turn the mix mode off and mix his raw hits yourself from the ground up! Then you can hear him the way you want him to sound. How cool!
Gojira sounds good, but is still the weakest card in the Mixwave drum library releases I'm afraid. It's obvious that these are geared towards non-drummers (unlike myself), who does not play on high-end e-kits, so that's a given, which is perfectly fine. Briefly trying this one out on my DTX900 and so far a few bugs that needs ironing out. Mainly concerns the release of certain open edge articulations on the hihat and CC values where these have a looooooong fade-out period. On Pridgen and Tony they work fine (not the mention on every SD3, SSD, BFD, OWD, NI and all other libraries I have ever tried on my kit. Then we have the regular stuff about not being able to edit the volume on individual articulations (NOT the velocity values). But again, these libraries are not for drummers, so it's all ok.
@@Semitonic LOOL as a big fan of Gojira and Mario I have to say the sound of this plugin is just decent, nothing too far off from slate drums, GGD or even the old ass metal machine EZX, It also has that thing where the crashes' sustain cuts between hits so you hear a lot of that "clicky" attack sound between crash hits, especially on loud ones, that alone screams fake cymbals, also the toms have that "plasticky" characteristic to them which to me makes them feel fake, the plugin sounds close(ish) to Mario's drum sound, but I wouldn't use it for nothing else than recording covers or demos.
