- A very interesting mod (currently in development) that basically is a Source Engine Rogue Like. It's kinda set in the Half-Life universe but in the far future.

The composer of SourceWorld here. Me (and man) had a blast working on this mod. i didn't join the mod until recently. so that explains some of the placeholder tracks from other games/mods (the elevator music)
Your music sounds like it walked off the Bebop soundtrack half the time and off the Doom title screen the other, amazing stuff, keep going!
It gave me heavy older point-and-click adventure game vibes, where the music also changes with different levels or areas. I like it.

Oh yeah, and the bar track at 3:07 reminds me a LOT of the original Spyro trilogy soundtrack. Perhaps by design.
Whatever the track is at 6:10 ... certified banger, upload that to YT and im gonna farm views like mad.
Christ, the background music, the dark skybox, the blocky geometry, the dialogue system, hell even the modular body damage system thing. It's so, so Deus Ex for no reason and I love it.
there's a reason. SellFace LOVES Deus Ex, like. to an insane amount, for the music... uhh, idk about that, that's mostly unintentional

Hi, Dev here once again.
Props to RadHaz for switching to comfortable difficulty and not suffering further on normal, since SW doesn't have proper difficulty mechanics yet, so all generated levels have near-equal level of difficulty besides the amount of generated rooms chosen by the player. Room amount works as simple risk=reward mechanic.
The mod isn't endless and has an obligatory bossfight at the end, so it's important to spend your money carefully.
The purple reflection in the eyes usually happens to players with integrated intel/amd graphics. It's the reason why I can't replicate this bug myself and it later proved itself to be much harder to fix than I thought(possible solution would be removing custom eye materials and sticking to vanilla ones, but eh)
On a side note, the Demo is a tiny bit raw, don't judge it too harshly for things like lacking good introductions/tutorials for the new mechanics or unperfect difficulty balancing, although I appreciate all feedback! The demo takes around 5 hours to finish if not more.
Seeing people's interest in this project motivates me to keep working on it even further after spending over a year on the demo.

This is amazing.
That was some wicked coding and design brother. There's a Doom rogue like with lots of RPG elements and weird shit going one with tons of passives, abilities and skills if you want to make something different or expand it (as inspiration of course). How plausible you see this mod converted to Obsidian Conflict? Can't stress enough how impressive this is both artistically and technically.

this mod is such a fresh take. it's incredible. I'd love to see more enemy variety - maybe sprinkle in some HL1 monsters, baby gargs too? maybe some worlds could have thick fog and some rooms could be pitch black, with the tradeoff of giving higher rewards?

If I were to create a half life 2 mod, it would be from the perspective of a citizen becoming a rebel, but I would add a parkour/ advanced movement system.

I think the reason for this mod's universe being set in a world run by a totalitarian government is probably due to how the Combine's invasion and occupation of Earth had left parts of the planet without any legitimate authority but the places controlled by the Resistance and Combine who apparently are no longer around since this takes place three hundred years after the events of the Uprising and the possible defeat of the Combine so a lot can happen to have caused humanity to be governed by a dystopic police state.
the founding fathers overthrew the british 200 years ago and now we live under an oligarchy that taxes us with no representation and strives to withhold every right and autonomy real citizens have while granting more freedom to mega corporations and our draconian state security. The parallels are drastically different, but the combine very obviously represent real dictatorships that come to power through violent imperialism, and this totalitarian rule following their defeat is just a natural progression of that.

Most politicians were probably dead during the 7 hours war so after the rebellion and combine leaving earth, no one know anything about ruling a country and doing bureaucratic thing so they decided to copy combine ruling style which is of course a dictatorship.

I have to say, I love that they chose to theme the mod around Half-Life when they could have done whatever because this is more so a Source Engine mod than a Half-Life mod.
I also really like the take that humans became just like the Combine after getting their technology, well, without the overtaking of worlds and disfiguring of species, probably.
Gordon takes out the Combine and you get sent into the backroom smh.
That elevator to the secret lab gave me Signalis vibes. Great opportunity to have an Akira Elevator™.

The dynamic music based on location is awesome
radhaz goes outside IRL and is like "wow love the custom skybox"
This mod would have profited from community maps along with generated maps. Like imagine that you're exploring different worlds and suddenly you enter xenian nature or some sort of die hard offices or a Amnesia style factory. This mod could be something like TWHL for HL1, with it's maps diversity. Generator could use a little bit more work so that it would create more diverse and good-looking/cyberpunkish maps.
I'm surpriced what modders can pull off with source engine. Once again impressive work, looking forward for more.

Unrelated, but I was listening to Unexplained Hazards and I was like "Yeah, that's like, a Half-Life intro" then took me a bit to realize it's not part of any official Half-Life material.
Mods keep adding to the lore and that's great and all, but we all know in our hearts that it's time that we got our fix of official HL canon.
What next? A turn-based Half-Life RPG game?

Hey Rad, I recognize the weapon animations in the mod. I think they were gotten from MTB with permission but if you want to look it up it's on HL2 moddb-gamebanana's sections and it's called "Half-Life 2 Reanimation pack V1.2". Even cooler there's a version for MMod 2 if you'd like to try it there.
After that one CSGO rogue like mode I was craving more fps rogue likes. Thank god the HL community is still killing it, cant wait to test this out when I have time

This looks cool for a source mod but I think this would gain so much by being its own game on a modern engine rather than being limited by being a source mod

Hearing Shin Megami Tensei IV tracks in a Source mod is real trip. Surprisingly fitting, tho, considering both SMT and HL2 being postapocalyptic urban hellscapes.
Whoever chose the music for this mod has great taste.

I already liked the Rougue custom map in CSGO so im hyped for this. Also i guess this mod is in one aspect a step closer to my dream of Deus Ex on the source engine.
I've been playing for the past couple days, and besides the infrequent crashes, it's a pretty good time and extremely interesting concept
Bullet time and UI at 0:21 and the room, lighting, and mirror at 0:42 + you sayiyng "we play as Jake" really reminded me of Underhell.
4:16 movement looks the same, 4:18's some of the same rooms, and 4:39 reminded me of dream sequences.
This is cool.
It's amazing on how they manage to make random maps quickly without generating npc nodes.
i love roguelikes. i wouldnt blame Valve for doing something like this for a major half life installment. im sure you can do a lot of things to make it fit the universe/story in a reasonable way

Agreed, hope for outdoor and/or more complete environments as that sells the illusion of multiverse exploration, if that's not too intensive in source engine to generate. Would be interesting bit of world-building to see if Gorden Freeman is somewhat worshiped or spoken with reverence as a messianic figure.
After trying some doom rogue like mods, can't wait to see a full rogue like half life mod!!

I used to play Modular Combat(the PVE servers) and just grind out the upgrade system a few years back, seeing the money counter reminds me of those days, also the earlier city maps really does give off vibes of the beta city 17 maps and the vance headquarter

There's maps like this on GMOD called Districts but some of them are highly offensive.
Which is why this is better but then again, those maps do allow you to go shoot the place up and have reinforcements come in while you can't do it on the hub map (since you're unarmed unlike in gmod where you have starter weapons)

Can't start a single map without a crash. Would've loved to play with this if it didn't. I'm addicted to it but I can't start a single time.
Update: a simple restart, one without right after the crash did the trick, I WANT MORE OF THIS! MORE SOURCEWORLD! (Just noticed, is the name a reference to FNAF WORLD?)
