For the floors above 9, you press 0 and then enter the number of the desired floor. After that press # and the elevator will start moving. Six months and you didn't even figure out how to work the lift, you seem like the perfect employee for that company.
Why don't you just use the phone to call the police? "The terrorists had disconnected the phone lines." Ok never mind, what about cell ph- oh right, 1998... "This mod was made in 2007." Damn, cell phones were still a novel thing outside of businessmen.
This is really inspired by Die Hard. Ventilation, terrorists, office, everything fits together. I love this movie, I already want to watch the mod. Rad Haz, thanks for the video.
even funnier when you realize that the 2002 Die Hard game, Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza, started out as a Build Engine game, then moved to GoldSrc and then to Lithtech.
welp, so turns out there was never a good ending.. 10 years of speculation down the drain xd. I did not know about that secret sewer escape so i guess the moddb page that said "3 endings" was not lying. anyways thanks raz for this, you just helped close an old chapter of my life.
I know this mod. I played through it. Didn't care much for the whole magazine discard reloads or the fact that the villain gets away no matter what you do. And at the time I played the mod, the end news reel didn't work visually; it was all just a blue texture.
Aha, that's the name of that mod that I used to watch a playthrough of as a kid. I have an odd nostalgia for this mod despite never playing it. It's such a fever dream thinking back to that. It has a really satisfying sort of late 90's feel to it. Thanks for making a vid on it bro.
The lack of a crosshair for a character that lacks weapon training makes sense when you think about it. Most of these late-2000s mods went under my radar as I moved on to the Source games at the time. Would've loved this. It sorta feels like you're playing the hostages from Counter-Strike, heh.
I don't think a 16 floor building would be tall enough to necessitate it, and the mod probably didn't do anything to address the sign/elevator disparity, but in real life, usually when a building has more floors than its elevator can apparently reach, there is at least one more elevator or set of elevators that goes the rest of the way. They might overlap by a few floors, or the highest floor of one elevator would be the lowest floor of the other.
Thanks for the recent videos; you shined light on mods I've never seen! About the lack of crosshair, I think it makes sense. I mean, you are a simple office employee with lack of weapon training. So, no crosshair means no accuracy, just like the real deal. At least, that's how I see it.
I feel like giving you a revolver-esque zoom and slowing down your walking speed like Resident Evil would've communicated that better, but I didn't find the lack of a crosshair a big hindrance. It's a small experience, so it works.
One of my favourite mods, i don't remember when i first played it much. Yet it was charming, and the vibe was amazing..there should be more mods like these.
Building or Die-Hard Styled mods for Half-Life are very underrated in my opinion. There's so much potential for them considering they have such an extensive range of what you could do in them and It's one of the reasons why I love CS:CZ Deleted Scenes building level. It's so fun to fight on top of high places and it's a blast playing them there, that being said I think a while ago one of the things I didn't like about this mod were the bad endings since they were very common unless I managed to get out in time. [I used to hate bad endings but nowadays I find them to be a neat touch considering not every situation in games have to end with a overtly happy ending as much as I like those] I sort of wonder what other mods are out there that take place with you fighting bad guys on a skyscraper building thing because I'd love to play those types of mods more.
I remember I was hanging around on the NATO (Night at the Office, I mean) forums back in those days and some quirks you wonder actually have a reason. This game basically try to hit home that you are just a regular worker with no weapon skills, with a little more realism that typical shooters have. Thus you don't see a crosshair (which would require weapon's training), and your character is weak, so you die in a few shots. You can't reload your weapon properly thus you discard your bullets in your magazine when you load a new one. You're a powerless little mook who only wants to survive, not a strong, trained soldier. In reality, wounds get severe pretty fast and even if you'd have medkits, those would be basically just bandages, fasteners, tourniquets, those wouldn't do much to restore your health - so the wounds you receive are permanent. At the end, you also learn that in the position you are, you're not a hero - you can't hold any passing chance to fight back the terrorists and save your colleagues. The most you can do is to flee and save only yourself. I think this mod has some lessons to take - we're not always superhuman heros. We imagine how strong we are in our virtual worlds, but in a more realistic setting, we wouldn't last long, and couldn't do anything to stop the bad guys' agenda.
That ending really suprised me, I wasn't expecting the security guard killing himself and the playable character just dying in the blast. Although now I'm little bit dissapointed, because I also got an idea that a mod or a game, maybe spin off to some main series, could end with playable character being killed in the explosion after completing main objective, to explain their absence in the other games, turns out my idea wasn't that original or new :P.
I played this mod, it was shit. It would benefit from a non-linear design where you go between the same few floors doing different objectives in whatever order you please, like in die hard or something.
Hey raddad/radhaz I have two questions just because im genuinely curious, as a Pakistani what is your opinion on the isreal-palestine conflict, and what is our view on socialism. I don't rlly care what ur answer is but I'm just curious mainly cuz of where ur from lol

"With no crosshair, this made my aiming inaccurate"
me who uses no crosshair most of the time:
I don't think a 16 floor building would be tall enough to necessitate it, and the mod probably didn't do anything to address the sign/elevator disparity, but in real life, usually when a building has more floors than its elevator can apparently reach, there is at least one more elevator or set of elevators that goes the rest of the way. You can enable the crosshair and classic HL health UI. You just have to search the game files and run the exe files provided.
counter strike if the hostages werent useless
When the guy shot himself, the first thing Rad does is to see if he can grab the gun XD
