To me, this is the best video you do. I enjoy the teaching aspect of these segments! I really learn a lot from you!
Definitely agree with you about fish processing things faster and making up their minds almost instantly about a bait. Most of the fish here in GA are running from a jighead minnow, and the ones that do stick around to check it out, one wrong shake or pause and he's out of there! Been having to stick with a dropshot lately, but finally got on some shallow fish after all the rain we got!
I agree and the original rapala 3/1/2 inch taught me that tactic way back in the seventies lol. Good info !
Let’s hear about some late Fall River smallies!! Some of the hardest fish to find but the fishing can be amazing!!
Love these info videos man. Got a big tournament on lake Travis this weekend and I’m gonna throw some of these techniques in my rotation
I’ve got a HS tourney on Eufala in Alabama on the 12th barring another bad weather system, been binging as much fall related content as possible thanks for the info man🤙
@@codycampbellfishing2007 should be good hopefully! Good luck 👊🏼
Good luck bud
Heck yeah JW 6 casting techniques, power fishing in October! What a blast
I am from Indy. My dad and I just fish a small two day club tournament 9-28 and 9-29 at freeman and shafer. We won both days using chatter bait with free loader and frog. It was fun. The wind really help out position those fish. They were blowing up mid day in back of big monon creek. It was fun tournament.
I always rock my Wheeler shirts when I’m fishing up here in Wisconsin. I got all 9 set ups Wheeler rods with 1 being the brand new series but I actually like the older style better!
Thanks Jacob! We appreciate the shout out brother. That cleanup craw is 🔥 on the 1099.
The jackhammer is the best chatterbait imo, but cant justify spending 20ish bucks at the big box stores, my tip for anyone that cares is look for some smaller local tackle shops. Ive found 2 small little tackle shops that carry jackhammers for $11-$13 which makes not only buying them easier but when you inevitably lose them easier. Also just shows you how much money the big box stores are making off you if they can sell them for that cheap in a small shop.
Where are you from? Here in Alabama, a Jackhammer chatter bait has never cost $20. They’re max $15.99 retail at big box stores
But I do remember listening to a podcast in the last few months with Brett Hite (whom had a huge role in the jackhammer design). He explained the whole process and the price. Also said at one point he got a $3-$4 royalty on each one sold!!!!! Not including the 1 other royalty to the other guy that he had. And all that mark up is before having it produced and the retail margins
@@repairking1990 Im up in mass i havent been to one of the big box stores in a while so i may be mistaken, but i do remember seeing them for like 17-18.99 in bass pro at some point, either way id much rather spend $11-13, and hey fair enough if bretts making a fat check of them he made a sick lure and deserves it. I mean they catch everything from pike to yellow perch up here
Tackle warehouse has a sale on z man stuff. Picked up a couple jackhammers, think they were also $11.
I can't justify spending more than $10-15 on a lure lol
I watch your fishing channel I really watch it every time you do do videos on RUclips
@@chriscurtis8577 really appreciate it Chris! Thank you for the support 👊🏼
Great video,I always pick up something new or something I hadn’t thought about technique wise. I have been without a boat for about 25 years , I have not messed with any electronics in this time. Could you do a video on the basic type and diffferences of basic electronics ,2d,downscan ,sidescan. My last depthfinder was hummingbird LCR 4000 if that gives you any idea how long it been.thanks !
Thanks Jake for your tips for October and congrats on your victory of I think it was Santee Cooper? Watched you win on TV 👍🏻
Also that new custom lite is very nice!!
Wanna see you back in the jet boat!
the best edice i had ever had
Jacob. Your signature spinning rods? Will the guides on that rod allow a braid to leader FG knot?
Cherokee highschool tournament November 2nd, whatchu think will be the key baits? Thanks hammer
@@jessevowell2554 man with the water being so high who knows what all will change from now to then
Been waiting on this one big dog
@@JasonSmith-xq5mw 👊🏼
what’s your favorite mavrik color in texas??
the rain was nice.
OG Skitter Pop! Yeah buddy
Thanks Jacob. Hey anyone throwing any wacky worms in the fall?
The feller can teach. He has a ATD. that’s off the chain. Thanx I wanna see that popper lesson.
Well, the frog turned off last week for me on lay lake. We’re hitting it every morning and evening now they finicky with it
I use the 40lb promix open water really strong
When you say swap out the hook on the frog is there an certain hook you prefer?
it really just depends on the frog. I have 3-4 different replacement frog hooks that I use.
The goat
When you crank how do you do it do you go continuously or do you pause and go on cranks spooks stick baits so forth
@@jesustorrez4520 I like a stop and go when I’m deflecting off of cover out normal straight reel when just cranking down the bank
I live in NC what are the best baits for like murky water?
@@Thewrestlinggrind white chartreuse chatterbait, Spinnerbait, black blue jig and a square bill crankbait chartreuse black back
@@WheelerFishingthank you next time I go fishin shopping I’ll try and look for them do you have any recommendations on where to find these baits
I have a HS tournament on Lake Cumberland in Ky on October 5th, last year we did well with a drop shot on points, curios if any of this stuff will work better
If you dial in on a dropshot, there isn't much beating it. Fish are either gonna be reactive or they want finesse.
You could always try topwaters/crankbaits, then go to finesse.
@@Pussmash yup. We love fish a drop shot
Personally i feel like it might be a little too late in the year for chatterbaits any else have any thoughts?
I got that curado on my jerkbait set up as well, love that thing
I run those or daiwa sv tw reels on everything csnt beat em, the slx a is good too
What would be your bait to target October big bass?
I'm no wheeler, but I like jigs for when I found em, chapo or frog for topwater
I've caught some good ones on flukes this time of year also
U need to try the Lews S&P reel or ti
Which Blue rock Jig is that?
Ah I see you added some extra chartreuse to that cleanup craw to imitate a bluegill
hahaha
sadly my main lake is sprayed in the summer killing all the hydrilla 😥
Hey Jacob what c map package is that?
@@Gobert27 this is the map that comes free in the new pro units
What would you consider the best places to start on highland resevoirs like here in southern ky where i live? I fish dale hollow a few times a year, but i mostly fish barren river lake. Barren has no grass, no wood, just muddy rocky bottoms and bluff walls. It has some rocky points, and a lot of creek arms, and they draw the water down in middle of october for winter pool. Topwater is good at barren once the water falls, but untill that happens, i need to find some fish lol. Love the vids!
I really like stumps at barren this time of year, also docks are consistent cover even though from what I remember barren doesn't have a ton of them. Also those fish could be grouped up offshore because you get so much current from the winter draw down
Cool to see a neighbor on here. I'm from Bowling Green and fish Barren river all the time. I don't fish the lake that often but I love catching some spots and small mouth in the river.
50 pound braid😂.. I feel a lot of times these pros overdo it. We use 50 pound braid for blues and stripers up north.😅
You’ll probably never see this or read it, but would love to know your thoughts on river Fishing for the month of October! And I’m not talking ones that you can walk and wade through or using a kayak shallow water. I’m talking big rivers.
How to tie loop knot w braid??
@@petecook1611 I talk about it on the popper video
👍👍👍👍👍
I live on da West Coast ie California What About Us??
Don't forget about California when you give your top baits
I've only fished in So Cal in the summer a few years back but I need to come out there and explore one day soon
@@WheelerFishing go to northern CA, get on the delta and some of the NorCal lakes. They have huge largies and/or big spots, some of the best fishing in the country.
Why chatterbait over a Spinnerbait? Thank you
I love a spinnerbait this time of year as well. I could only pick one so I chose the chatter bait
