Honestly considering the fact this card is over 10 years old.. and can still play some modern games ( even if it’s at a low resolution/ frame rate.. Is nuts! It just goes to show the longevity of some graphics cards. Like the 10 series coming up to 9 years old and still being used by many people!
To be fair the new games were pretty demanding tbh, except Doom Eternal but that had other issues really. If you are happy with a Medium, 40FPS experience there's quite a lot of games that would run fine on something like this. Quite surprised me tbh
Had this gpu during the covid and work pretty good at that time was playing apex, CSGO, Fortnite, and some AAA game from 2017 to 2020, what a great card wish i still have it
@@zarif3388 I bet there’s thousands of great games it will play still on Steam and GOG although you just gave me a new video idea so I will see what I can do :D
I upgraded from an HD5770 to the R9 270X. I didn't have great luck w/the R9's 270 or 270x's, I had 3 of them. They all died but the performance at the time was good. Diablo III was my game of choice at the time. Next for me was the RX 580 8gb and I still have/use it in the system it came in.
I find that, when I do find the time to play games, I much prefer those older titles than new AAA games. As Mack from "Worth a buy" would say - modern triple A s...s
Weridly enough there's still a lot of games that support dual-graphics cards, not the latest titles but way newer than I thought there would be. Give it a go.
@@Dingbat1967 Through me a little tbh as I expected it to completely fall over but it was happy running games really, well trying to in some instances lol
Nimezed or AMD legacy? The 270X 2GB is £18 and in stock at CEX.... If that's your budget level, then the R9 280x 3GB for £22 brings more GPU horsepower and 50% more VRAM - if that's gone, the R9 280 3GB is the same price but very much a second choice to the X. Might be interesting to put the 270x up against the GTX 1050, as the 270X could often be thought of as the poor man's 1050, though the current and up to date drivers of the 1050 may have given it some clear air
AMD Legacy, although I might give the modded ones a go on this card if I find the time. I wouldn't pay £18 for one tbh, I paid that for an RX 460 2GB on ebay not so long ago buy now and they had loads.
These cards were good for Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 days around 2013/2014. Many games you can play on them if you are willing to play some older games.
@@supremeskorpion1863 It would make a great card still for someone wanting to just bust through a back catalogue of oldies tbh and people practically give them away now.

Was great to have a play around with tbh, I expected much worse but today's games have it pegged now. Still great for old stuff though.
@TechLabUK that's true and I don't mind using this card for older games and some newer game as well even in lowest setting

TBH I think a lot of people do. I will often play the odd AAA new title I have been waiting for and then continue through the back catalogue anyway.
r9 270x is really good i still have my dual vapor x versions , still want to try sli crossfire

@@TechLabUK I sold mine to someone during covid - I tested it on valheim and it worked fine ...although not a huge framerate, playable (ie: 40fps+)

if this old gpu can still game, I guess I'll stay with my rx580. I don't play much modern games anyway.

2GB is not enough these dayz
Most definitely.
u can get on ali rx 580 with8GB for 70 bucks
Even cheaper in places.
Old but gold ....
Love it.
5:25 if BF4 its retro I am Battle Helicopter
And How GTA V its retro ?
11 year old games are not exactly new are they and these just demonstrate what you can play at the higher end of "retro" gaming.
Red Devil 3 fan RX480 8g looks the same with much better performance compared to this
