After leveling , how do you bring the overall volume up , cos obvsly , after leveling it will loose volume , how do you get the overall mix loud , cos if ur beat is low no1 wants to buy .. thanks for the reply in advance
This video helped me more than most of the other mixing tutorials. My mix is perfect and it sounded great when I mastered my track. Can't wait to release it.
Really learned a lot of my stuff from Internet Money but I'm starting to feel like their tutorials are sounding the same so I'm happy I found your channel it helps me have different views and it's really helpful!
shouldn’t you EQ before you do the leveling because EQ-ing also slightly changes (lowers) the volume of your channels and like this you end up with a more quiet and less punchy mix at the end?
this is a great leveling tutorial for beats that are going to soundcloud, personally i prefer to master my beats when i put them there. but i hope your audience gets that this is not good for whole songs, when leveling a beat for a song, the highest peak should be -4db (some say that its should be -6) and not compressed. thats the best way to fit the vocals to the mix. and the 808s should be a little more quiet, the exciters and multiband compressors are the best for boosting the low end.
Henri Beats I agree, I do this and use a compressor with a ratio of 6:1 usually and it helps to get my drums to really punch through. Also many mix engineers reccomend you not boosting or cutting anything more than +/- 6db (unless you're low/high/band passing ofc) during the mixing phase*
@@renitascott417 that's up to to, I usually move it until it starts to grab the highest peaks, I don't like it to be obvious that I'm using a compressor
one thing I do recommend when EQ'n 808 and kicks is EQ'n like you did with the melody but do it at 25hz, 25hz isn't even audible for us, we can't even hear those frequencies so you might aswell take them out.
I and @imortalbeats use to do this when just we started out back in 2008 , I totally forgot about this YOOO!!! tHANKS maaaaanne!!! up n up bro bro .... #fyre
It is exactly what i was about to say ... 0db.. good luck for the Mastering 😂😂😂 I think even if this tutorial is supposed to teach to beginners, apart mislead them, this tutoriel is useless 🤔 😕
I fuck w your tutorials bro thank you - surprised you dont level in mono tho? It works, i just know since making the switch it seems to help paint a clearer picture for me but diff strokes for diff folks
In mastering ... your plugins react to a certain level of sound way better. So in your mix leaving your faders down this much will DEFINITELY make compressors and limiters act totally different. Check out GAIN STAGING... you will see the correct way to have your faders level but still adjust the sound to level the mix. This way the mastering plugins get the most sound and react how they are meant to. 👍
Also many fx plugins (if modeled after analogue) are meant to be fed at around -16db, I like to reduce the gain into the fx and then add a gain boost at the end of my fx chain back to normal so I don't mess with my slider levels before gain staging
Gain staging isn't as important as balancing your levels if you're inside the box. There are no analog modeled plugins he is using. So all he has to do is adjust the overall level going into the master, which he does. Gain staging to the extent you're talking about here isn't going to make this mix any different.
I'd rather start mixing the kick bass and snare first making all the levels right after mix from there or download an acapella and mix it the bass was way to overpowered in this video! And Sidechain just take a volume fader and sidechain it with that.
dude this is useful for beginner who wanna start to mix a beat they made 👍🏻 great job brother i like it maybe u can make a mastering video next ? big fan from 🇲🇾 peace no h8 brah 👍🏻🔥
Best video on how to level in fl studio for begginners nicely done very clean! +1 sub hay by the way what software do you use for recording your screen and sounds?
Why are you levelling before EQ? Surely you're leveling to a false representation of the final mix? Wouldnt it be more advisable to EQ each sound before you level? Just how I do it, I've never seen it done like you did before today. Any particular reason or is it ust how it works best for you?
D Ravines there are plugins that alow u to mix instruments in mono , and u should mix in mono because bass should be same in left signal and right signal , thats all I know.

MHFriends he can do what he want, bro.
That's why there's visuals, dumb dumb.

I needed this...the background music was a bit of a distraction but it really helped...big thanks bro
Video length is fine imo, thank you so much for this tutorial btw it is going to help a lot
yeah 14 minutes is fine
The irony of making a mixing tutorial with muddy levels and over powering background music in the video.
Dope tutorial, straight and to the point !

I was thinking the exact same thing. I always EQ before the final leveling phase.
Yea i agree with this as well but overall besides that this is a good tut
You most definitely should eq before leveling
Level then eq
You can eq before if you know proper gain staging
Best video of its type out. We thank you!

Yes, -6 is usually as high as you want to go.

You shouldn't put beats in the background of your videos. It confuses the audience. Peace.

You should level volumes before you even get to the mixing faders.
I usually gainstage to about 18db for the instruments then i move the faders
Bro, you rock.
I wish you would show some stuff from differnt music genres tho in the future.
Thumbs up in any case!

You do realize when you widen the 808 like that you lose a lot of mono compatibility, right?

A couple of questions What would you level a sampled melody or how would you level a vocal loop as a melody?
Where can i listen to this beat? Its so goog!
Do you remember what kick and 808 was used here?
Even if I turn up the kick volume it doesn t get to 0 db... why?
how do i add the mix levels on the playlist like you did?

So if i wired the sounds to give more power is wrong ?
808 should be mixed in mono, not stereo
How and why?
D Ravines there are plugins that alow u to mix instruments in mono , and u should mix in mono because bass should be same in left signal and right signal , thats all I know.
Skerdi Elezi Aight thanks for the info
I see some people do that the kick aswell
Kick and bass should be mono because otherwise it causes phasing issues and it might sound weird/bad on some sound systems
