Lorde - Fallen Fruit (Lyrics)
To the ones who came before us-
All the golden ones who were lifted on a wing
We had no idea the dreams we had were far too big
Far too big
And we will walk together
Psychedelic garlands in our hair
Through the halls of splendour where the apple trees all grew
You’ll leave us dancing on the fallen fruit
From the Nissan to the Phantom to the plane
We’ll disappear in the cover of the rain
Took the great minds and the vapers
And a pocketful of seed
It’s time for us to leave
And we will walk together
Psychedelic garlands in our hair
But how can I love what I know I am gonna lose?
Don’t make me choose - Видеоклипы
The part: "From the nissan, to the phantom, to the plane. We'll disappear in the cover of the rain" always give me chills.

She just glowwwwsss 🥺☀️
It's Midsommar aesthetic, she understood the assignment
well it’s a hippie album
Zzz
people are forgetting that this isn’t supposed to be a growing up and teen feelings album, like her other two, it’s her being an adult now and I think that’s beautiful, even if not for everyone
I actually think you are wrong. This is still a growing up album, even more than that, it’s about maturing and understanding personal evolution as something quintessential of the human species, seeing the world with a new perspective as you age and try to connect to it as long as you can.
“O, was enlightenment found?
No, but I'm trying
Taking it one year at a time”
Oceanic Feeling - Lorde
She is just 25 wtf we need pure heroin type album 🥺.
@@ugurkoksal2976 no, she literally said “now the cherry black lipstick is gathering dust in a drawer, I don’t need her anymore” in the song oceanic feeling. she’s saying that she’s moved on from the pure heroine era and grown up from the depressed teen she was when she made that album.
I love these songs when I'm watching it with the music video. I think the songs lose a little something though sans music video.
She's digging 70s hippie culture in 2022. Everyone knows that didn't work, and not gonna happen again. We're over it 40 years ago. That's why people are disappointed with this new album. None of her messages are relatable nor really matter in 2022. She's basically roleplaying hippie with the money she earned from her previous albums. Unlike her, most people have to work 40 hours a week to pay the bills. I mean, If I had several millions, I surely will go hippie too.
This era is amazing and mature. I don’t get why everyone was disappointed when the album came out.
@@graemehenderson1743 don't listen to Graeme Henderson. I saw him in a news story, he's a middle-aged man that gets arrested chaining himself to fences. When he's not doing that he spends his days and nights defending the honor of all of Lorde's videos. He's definitely a winner 🤣🤣🤣
Because the album is too simple. The sounds are not extraordinary, only fallen fruit has a little something but all the other are shitty. Thanks to Jank Anattoff
I agree
I think Solar Power was just a very disappointing album because it didn’t live up to Lorde’s past work. She set the standard too high for herself with Melodrama, and Solar Power didn’t come close to meeting that standard in terms of overall sound and songwriting. It also doesn’t help that fans waited over four years for this album to come out only for it to be extremely disappointing since it doesn’t seem to be of very good quality as would an album that’s been worked on for 4+ years would.
@@ajgerbi honestly I used to agree, but the album just hits different. Give it some time. I think nothing will top melodrama, but Solar Power surpasses Pure Heroin imo.
I love how with visuals an artist like Lorde can make you “see” the song on a deeper level.

Agreed
yes! i wasn't even a fan of "fallen fruit" until this mv came out.
The little details, the trash on the ground being picked up from the Solar Power MV, the feather fans left behind by the girls from Mood Ring, the peach pits left behind, the psychedelic mushrooms on her head, and finally how Ella is the one who has to stay on the island but Lorde gets to leave in a G-Wagon. There’s layers to this, holy shit.
but the girl in mood right neither ella nor lorde, that's a fictional character.
quick question how do u know who's Ella and who's lorde?
@@sanjivaniebhalla3760 lorde is a superstar she can manage to get a car at beach that is burning down. Ella is just a girl who is having fun spending time at the beach. There’s a slight difference of lipstick between the two.
@@manasmishra2103 wait but what is that meant to symbolise? Is Ella stuck on the sunny beach?
@@MarinaAndTheDevil she’s not stuck. She is just there having a good time as others are having around her. She doest’t need to escape, hence for lorde there is a car waiting but for ella the beach is clear. Actually this symbolises the lyrics of Oceanic feeling. If you listen to it, its very much ella having a good time by the beach with her family. In that song she is remembering her childhood and reflecting upon her future. She has incorporated many references from it.
How is no one talking about the skill that went into the production of this music video. It's an absolutely masterpiece. All these _FLAWLESS_ cuts from utopia to dystopia are insane. Also the close-ups you get of Lorde during day and night are quite beguiling. In the day light she seems very modelished and a bit posey even? At night time she's expressing a vulnerability- perhaps representing our arrogance to mother nature and the result of how one day she'll break our hearts.
I'm really really touched when artists continue to develop more from the mainstream. But Lorde was always braver anyway! I love that!
Sie ist wirklich Klasse ich werd mir das Album als Vinyl holen....
@@g.walter1653 Ich würde sagen, dass lohnt sich auch auf Vinyl
The ending is such great commentary on class disparity - when it comes down to it the rich will be comfortably escorted from the insupportable conditions caused by their inherited wealth and greed- while those less fortunate will be left to wither in the fires. Her escaping the dilapidated island in the very thing that fuelled its destruction (a vehicle) is a harrowing and profound image.
This!!
❤️❤️
I actually came back to the video to write this exact idea! It's Genius!
And the way I see it, there's also an element of use and throw away mentality. If you perceive all of this in a more meta sense, in Solar Power she sang about nature and energy but after the music video is done and something real is happening she's just leaving it behind. It could also be a commentary on Hollywood and capitalism exploitation.
So true bestie
I find it funny just how LOVED Melodrama is today, because i remember that wasn’t entirely the case back in 2017. I have a feeling that the same will ring true for Solar Power and these songs in a couple of years. She’s just slightly ahead of the curve, as always.
She is always so ahead of everything. I would lie if I say I loved green light the moment it was released. It took me months to really appreciate it at its full. Some people only like albums when they have high score numbers. People based their judgment in others opinion’s. For me Solar Power as an album deserved so much more recognition, but it didn’t just because of the “sound”, lyrically it is as powerful as Melodrama. IMO
(Sorry for the grammar english its not my first lengua)
don't know what you're talking about, i loved Melodrama the first time i heard it. it's the perfect album. a masterpiece.

Hey I'm a huge Metalhead and absolutely love this young lady. Amazing talent.
The truth is it was just too far of a departure from her previous work. Many artists have tried, most have failed. She didn't study history & was doomed to repeat it.

The chills this music video gave me tho
This is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. It has notes of Indie, Celtic, and classic rock. What a beautiful combination.
Best way to describe this masterpiece 👏
It's just a chamber folk song. Don't hear any celtic, or classic rock influences in it.
ruclips.net/video/g0mwmqEfONI/видео.html
@@stickird915 I guess what I mean is, Enya and Clannad sound similar in certain ways, the songs take you into nature. That's what Lorde has intended, I think, so her acoustics sort of coincide with that.
As for classic rock, we get more niche, if you've heard Stairway to Heaven, this seems to fit the vibe.
As with all art, music is constantly up for interpretation, and that is mine. I'm no professional, just a music enjoyer who likes to juxtapose. :)

this era is definitely a hit or miss for her. people will either appreciate this art or it will be something that we are not accustomed to from her repertoire-it won't please everyone, which is understandable since we differ in our tastes in music but i tend to appreciate everything ella puts out (call me bias whatever). there's warmth, joy, and familiarity to her that i truly adore and i can still see her essence in this album.

I am just blown away by this song and album. I know a lot of people have not been hugely receptive to Solar Power, but I think this era shows just how versatile Lorde is. She's not a pop star, she's an artist, and that's what she's trying to remind us.

Everything about her is art to me.
You can see how every night shot in her background is chaotic apart from it's daylight part.. I'm quite bitter that most people didn't notice what Lorde really wants to deliver in this Music Video
i think she’s highlighting the duality of life and how not everything can be taken at face value…finding beauty in the very simple ‘unspecial’ things many people overlook.

I really felt it when Lorde sang:
Through the halls of splendor where the apple trees all grew
You'll leave us dancing on the fallen fruit.
que lindo sos 🥺
She said her album is inspired by the Antarctica trip she took in 2020 and you could just feel it.
The peace, the calm, the storm, the untouchable feels of it. The juxtapositions in this album. She's as brilliant as it gets.
She did not disappoint at all.
Once you understand what this song is about (destruction of the planet through pollution), it becomes chilling. Lorde really did not get enough credit for this album. But that's okay. Sometimes great things are only appreciated by the few.
Exactly it's awesome and informative even the warning beep near the end 😮
And colonialism.
By far the most mature lyric and video of her career
This album is a masterpiece, I'm sad that it's been received so poorly. This album will definitely come back around next summer and that's when everyone will revisit it and realize how much Lorde was ahead of her time. The relaxing, stripped back sound this album has is amazingly done and I really appreciate how the minimal production makes this album a very transcedental experience. The simple instrumentals, the bridges, the vocals, and the harmonies, her new sound is so unique and beautiful. However, I can see why not everyone will like it because of how situational and niche it is, especially after a highly produced heartbreak pop album. Amazing artist and one of the best and most unique body of works I've heard in a while. I've never had the perfect beach album until now and Lorde has once again not failed to impress me. The album grows the more you listen which makes it an acquired taste and you can tell how timeless it is because of it. It just resonates with me so much with where I'm at currently and I'm in love. Lorde describes her albums as special pieces of clothes that you only take out of your closet when you need them and I've never seen any other artist interpret their music that way. She is a genius and this album made me a very big fan of her.
I agree with this so much! And most of the people hating on Solar Power are not even looking at the album's music technical standpoint. They just keep hating because the critics said so and this mentality is making me so sad.
I’m so agree
I disagree, half of the album feels just uninspired. I've tried many times to like this album by listening to it it different contexts, but it just doesn't hit as much as Melodrama or Pure Heroine. Hopefully her next release will be better though. But I love the first half of Solar Power, it really feels like a proper sequel to Melodrama
@@Spiderboyish what's the point of wanting it to be exactly like her past albums really, they were extraordinary, yes, but so this is. time has passed, she isn't the same she was back then and it shows, and it's beautiful.
@@justinrodrigo7164 its so easy to write of criticism as “following critics” I couldn’t give less fucks about critics but this album did not live up the hype (coming from someone who actually liked the solar power single instead of hating it) and I know many others feel the same way

She shows how she’s just starting to realise and honour our mother, Earth, and how it’s so quickly being taken from us. She also shows how she feels guilt for being a celebrity and being able to be whisked away if things ever go bad, the last scene where everyone is running and she is greeted with a plastic water bottle and 4x4 shows she feels guilty the privilege that she hates may have to be utilised in the face of the climate crisis.
