My life is increasingly out of control so when I listen to Phillipe he pulls me back from the edge of insanity. His technical prowess helps me focus and makes me weep with gratitude that he sings so well. Thank you.

@@yvonnegeskes3249 I believe he was 35 when he became French. So by the time he composed many of his songs he was a Venezuelan living in France but yes, France was his inspiration as he grew up there. If his family had not move to France when he was so young his Melodies and song will not been known by anyone. Most likely
Ouch! The pianist is way too 'attacking' right from the start and the tempo wrong. In the prelude the score is marked 'p' and "Very slow". The vocal line is basically passionate but it's a largely softly expressed declaration and should be matched accordingly at the keyboard. When I first heard this piece via another singer many years ago the pianist on that occasion was faithful to the composer's instructions and as a result seemed to caress and linger over the very keys his fingers touched; it won me over immediately and thanks to him I memorably fell in love with the song ahead of the singer's first note. The pianist in this video with PJ r u i n s the whole thing for me. I reckon he must be a frustrated blacksmith at heart.
I love this guy's work. My son is an aspiring vocalist working in this register. I do agree that it would be nice if the pianist was a little better. I don't think it was designed to be that kind of performance though.
If you speak about the pianist, you should listen or study a little bit more about Bach... there is a clue. Ok I would not say the piano is super, intro is not really stable, there are some mistouch but overall this strucure is not at all wrong. Steady Piano and the freely Vocal. This music is really beautiful because two different aspects of music mixes in a french way., I think.
Since when informality is a characteristically french thing? This "mix" is not typically french, it's just unfortunate. The pianist is unprofessional (full stop) and Jaroussky is a world class artist who knows how to minimize damage live, which results in a beautiful if unperfect rendition of the song. That said, your tolerance and goodwill honour you, seriously. And by the way, the cap is horrid but I don't find it shocking :D :D :D.
A friend played this as a final farewell to his lover who died after 40 plus years together. So tender and meaningful.
😢❤
Always extraordinary the great Franco-Venezuelan composer Reynaldo Hahn. “A Chloris” is definitely one of the most beautiful songs in the world!

I hope you are safe and if not reach out....
@@simontheplantsman Thank you Simon for your kind words. 9 years ago I was in a very dark place but now, my life has changed and I am on an even keel.

I love the breathing just before the beginning of the piano. Asthmatic guy perfecting the music !
So true omgggg😂
Magnificent. Philippe never disappoints
This was beautiful. I am in love.
Check out these Hahn songs by Susan Graham.
@@derfreischutz4380 I already have. I like this one because it’s in a lower more manageable key for me.
Reynaldo hahn was born in venezuela , a great french composer
Preciosa cancion, Preciosa voz, me encanta.
Phantastic voice.
Terrible el pianista, va a destiempo. Hermosa la interpretación de Jaroussky.
Wonderful.
Great rendition by the singer. Great Venezuelan composer.
French born in Caracas

Wie wunderbar!
A fine almost gutsy cabaret performance - very French and innovative.
After posting my last comment I have my life back on track and can now view Philippe from a more objective point. A great technician.
Amamos a Philippe
An example of how a pianist can destroy a beautiful song beautifully sung.
I entirely agree. See my own comments.
Especially after Jerome Ducrois
charming pianist too, where is his name??? Always refreshing to listen to Jaroussky... fresh air in the soul
Par contre son Pianiste ?
On s'en moque !!
Soberbio, sublime ¡¡¡¡
NO TIENE PALABRAS
Fucking good piece from Haendl....
… from Hahn …
Nice..
This pianist is deciphering the score live or what? Shame!
waaao
I think Dr. Hannibal Lecter would feast on the pianist.

Tellement vrai.

to sing with such an unsophisticated pianist is rough....
I entirely agree. See my own comments. What the hell is a singer of his finesse doing shackled to such a clumsy partner? Gigantic mistake Mr J.
Jarroussky's ridiculous and compassionate gestures..then at 2:06 min it curves up to become almost hunchbacked ..looks like Rigoletto ..
They shouldn't put this kind of pianist to work with Philippe...really ruin the music
I entirely concur, as I've opined in my own comments.
