That equally as beautiful and painful to watch. Thank you for this. As another who has suffered loss of family, I'm right there with you, tears and all. Wishing you all the best.
I don't like to resort to cliches but the older I get the more I believe that music is truly the language of the soul, superior in every way to all other forms of human communication and probably our best hope for the future of humanity and this planet
What a beautiful gesture, thanks so much for sharing! 💖 When I was 15 I was visiting my dad for the summer, and he had 1 ticket to his first Pink Floyd concert, Oslo 1988, he was a big fan. But he figured that I had matured so much that I was the one that should go see them. I did and it was profound. Maybe be one of the most impactful events in my life. Pink Floyds music helped shape my views on so many things in life. I am forever grateful for this gift from my dad. He passed away 4 years ago, and needless to say, I was thinking of him when watching this. Oh how he would have loved reaction videos, and especially Pink Floyd ones! He for sure would have loved your video, he was very emotional. Anyways, this was very special, thanks again for sharing! 💖
You definitely need to watch the one on the 1994 Pulse concert division Bell tour!!! You get to see David gilmour's genius level brilliant ability to vocalize while he plays the guitar!! When you listen to the song it sounds like another instrument is playing along with the guitar but it's actually David Gilmour vocalizing!! Really sorry about your loss!! Believe me I'm an older person and I know how it feels to lose someone! Wonderful reaction, hang in there, you'll be okay because that's likely what he would have wanted for you!!
Great song and a centerpiece of the amazing album of the same name. I am a long time Pink Floyd fan, going back to the late 60s, so their stuff means a ton to me as well. I was so lucky to see them live 4 times, even as high as we were back in the day, they still went to your Rock n Roll Soul and pushed buttons and emotions you did not know you had. I understand your emotions about loss, I am the only one left from my family, and though I try to be upbeat with my gaming (old school board games, complex and often on historical subjects like WW2, I roll lots of dice, they are often unkind to me!) I do get down because I'm so lonely. I bumped into some of your shorts and found you entertaining, I love that you love gaming too, not in my old school niche but damn, you have fun! And that is what I am about at 69. I am an old Hippie, me and my dad, who fought in WW2, were often at odds back then but he loved baseball and history, he made me a lifelong fan of both. History got me wanting more and after doing well in chess I saw a hobby that combined them both, so I have been playing all kinds of games since the 1960s. I love my games, they will help get you through tough times as I lost all my relatives in this century. I have no funerals or weddings to attend any longer, and settle into the love of my pets and the friends I still have left. My hobby friends take care of me, and I of them, as I have produced a newsletter on ASL for 27 years and have had scenarios for it published by HASBRO/MMP. Just participating in the process each year gives me self worth, you enthusiasm for your gaming and love for those still in your life will see you through. I think of all the people I have lost over time but such is life, as hard as it is at times. In any event, I felt compelled to write after seeing how this song was affecting you. It is amazing what music can do for and at times, to us, is is mankind at their best for me. I'm glad you will continue to listen to the music that means so much to you and your loved one, it sure means you have a forever bond there. Brandy Slay, you take care, think good thoughts and look forward to better days ahead, as I sure do. Be well and keep on gaming, Vic. 🙂 🎲🎲
I don’t think any of us come out the other side of this amazing tune without emotional overload , the rawness of your loss is obvious I hope you find solace in sharing your thoughts with us
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year. Running over the same old ground, what have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.
Today I am wearing my DSOTM album cover prism T Shirt, sat down to watch some YT and this appeared as a suggestion! What a beautiful reaction by you to one of the greatest songs of all time. I’m sure your step-dad is looking down with pride ❤
Pink Floyd "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" (Parts 1-5) it both celebrates and mourns the life of founding band member Syd Barrett. Although at time of recording Syd was still physically with us, his failing mental health and addiction had taken him. This track, expresses the joy we remember whilst confronting the sorrow. It's a beautiful balance that never overwhelms.
Dedicated to my late sweetheart, who passed away before we could get married. To heck with legalities, we were of one heart and soul anyway. Josie, I with you were here. 😇🥺😭💞
One quick note the cough you hear at the beginning of the song is David Gilmour the singer and guitarist for this song. They left it in because they are Pink Floyd. David finally quit smoking partially because it was becoming more difficult to be the lead singer and smoke lol! 😮
They had to fire an original band member (also their bff) Syd Barrett, but he had drug problems. So when they got successful, they wrote this song for him.
Such a Great song, and Trust me that I Feel your pain darling.. I've lost my Dad, my identical twin brother, and my stepsister in the past 18 months!!😪💔
I know how you feel, hon. Lost my dad in 2006 from alcoholism, he was a disabled Vietnam Vet, lost my stepmom 2 months later, had a stroke and got a divorce 3 months later, and lost my only sibling, my younger brother 8 months later. I feel for you. I hope you are sble to grieve and heal. I never got to through all of my turmoil because I had to be the strong one for my family. Now im messed up because I couldn't let it out in that little over a year, kept it all bottled up.
Well it brings a smile to Floyd and Gilmour fans, but with your specific emotional meaning for this song it may make you cry - See David's daughter, who has inherited some of his musical brilliance, who sings two songs on his latest solo album, she plays a few songs at a local pub on their open mic night, and along comes Dad and they do a duet of Wish You Were Here: ruclips.net/video/-jYMraZjPHE/видео.html ( VR 360 - Romany & David Gilmour - Wish You Were Here - Open Mic at the Neptune Inn - Part 4 of 4 )
Having a cry is good for the soul, tough to do online, but it's better to let it out. I lost a child hood friend and a brother in the space of 2 months 2 years ago so I know the space you are in listening to a song that I have loved, since it was released. 😢❤
Beautiful reaction. I just wanted to say I hope you're OK. I lost my dad 6 years ago. it sucked until it didn't. Eventually he went from being my tragedy back to just being my dad. Sending positive thoughts and compassion. Also, thank you for doing the studio version and not the Pulse concert. That show is not Pink Floyd. That is David Gilmour covering Pink Floyd songs without the original singer and song writer (Roger Waters). People clamor for that show, and I don't get why. I saw them on that tour and honestly, I was disappointed. If they weren't calling themselves Pink Floyd still, no worries, but they were.
I ABSOLUTELY not understand why you're all so much sad, emotinally, with that song, because as a french guy, WHO Saw PINK Floyd when I was 14 YEARS OLD in 1994, thé Pulse Concert, in my hometown, Strasbourg, France, 50,000 peoples in the stadium, for me IT'S THE MUSIC, THE GUITAR, WHICH MADE ME CRY😢😂... EXPLAIN me, why the lyrics are so much important for you...I like YOUR reaction....peace from France ❤
bless your heart, the beauty of music is that it helps us remember, sometimes all you need is a dark room and some good music
exactly this
I’m sure your step dads looking down smiling on you , he wouldn’t want you to be sad. He knows what you’re feeling in your heart.
That equally as beautiful and painful to watch. Thank you for this. As another who has suffered loss of family, I'm right there with you, tears and all. Wishing you all the best.
I’m so sorry for your loss as well, sending strength your way
Thankyou for your authenticity, rawness and vulnerability. A remarkable thing to be able to do. Love and light to you...

im trying, one day at a time.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year. Running over the same old ground, what have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.
my favorite part of the song
This song, at the 1994 Pulse concert, is the best version of this song there is. You should give it a watch.
i can for sure check it out!

i hope so
Sublime song, one of Floyd's best.
my personal favorite

@@garymoore4909 I just googled it and it said it was David Gilmour so you probably ought to speak to them.
@@garymoore4909 I'd heard it was Rick Wright.
This was probably the best reaction I've seen. You're a beautiful woman :-)
thank you!
You NEVER get over loss, but it does EASE with time. Believe me, I have been there too many times! Just try your best my darling. Love from UK.
Thank you

Song was written to honor Syd Barret. Yes, story of loss.
False, "Shine On.." was the song specifically about Syd
If this was one of his favorite songs, he must have been a pretty good stepdad!
He was the absolute best
im sorry for your loss - now it's YOUR turn to be a role model for the next generation
❤❤❤❤❤
