There’s something so cozy about your channel. It’s slow (which I like) and no crazy edits, and you’re sitting in a nice room speaking about music, as if I’m right there with you. Never quit RUclips!
You picked some great albums. Your comments about Run Through the Jungle and Sabbra Cadabra surprised me - my favorite Creedence song and my top top 5 Sabbath song respectively 👍🏽 Some perfect rock albums for me are: Exile on Main St - Stones Highway 61 Revisited - Dylan Axis Bold As Love - Jimi Roger the Engineer - Ysrdbirds Odessey and Oracle - Zombies Paranoid - Sabbath Powerage - AC/DC Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division Morrison Hotel - Doors Appetite for Destruction - GnR The Slider - T Rex These were just off the top of my head so I am sure there are loads I forgot.
Hard to say Larry. Lists can change from time to time. Nothing is carved in stone. Another thing is that for a lot of us with similar tastes we will also have similar lists (more or less). So with that in mind this is my perfect album list for today. Here we go, in random order: 1. The White Album 2. Blood on the Tracks 3. Dark Side of the Moon 4. Close to the Edge 5. Station to Station 6. Selling England by the Pound 7. Who’s Next 8. Crime of the Century 9. Aqualung 10. Aja Of course these albums get talked about to death. But there’s a reason for that, they are masterpieces each and every one. There are some albums that I prefer more so than what I chose, for example I prefer Meddle over Dark Side but in fairness I had to be impartial and go for what deserves to be on the list. So, there you have it, my list of what I consider to be perfect albums. Of course there are a lot more but we gotta keep it down to manageable levels otherwise we will be writing books. 🤘😳🤘
Awesome choices. I’m with you on Bowie. when I was in high school I played Ziggy to death and I still do love it but Station is just so beyond perfect. DEVO is awesome too. I would have said Duty Now was my favorite years ago but it’s definitely Are We Not Men for me now. I gotta spend more time with Coney Island Baby. I think my favorite Lou is Blue Mask. Fernando’s bass and Robert’s guitar on that album are mindblowing.
I'm going to kind of steal this idea for my next video, but it's going to be called: "Top 10 Perfect Albums From My CD Collection" and I may even rank them. Each one will be 10/10, so there's no need to rate them. Excellent video! Always fun to watch!
Love that you're playing with the form and creating new entities in the process. The Graves' have long been a clever lot. The poet, Robert, is a distant and revered cousin. Here goes a challenge for ye RUclipsrs: Top dozen RUclipsrs. There are social RUclipsrs and there are asocial RUclipsrs. Competitors and Cooperators. Music can be medicine, or otherwise. I like that the medicinal RUclipsrs seem to cooperate. It is friendlier. Thanks for the walk down Mammary Lain.
Great Topic! I love most all of your picks, although I would consider the Devo to be skate Punk, and the Heads to be New Wave/Punk. Anyway, narrowing down the obvious.. here's 12, and have you ever heard my #12 pick??, 12. Bad Boy - Back To Back 11. Foghat - Night Shift 10. Bob Seger - Stranger In Town 9. Thin Lizzy - Johnny the Fox 8. Nazareth - Hair Of the Dog 7. Wings - Venus and Mars 6. Black Sabbath - Sabotage 5. Captain Beyond - Captain Beyond 4. Van Halen - Van Halen 1 3. Budgie - Squawk 2. Led Zeppelin - Houses Of the Holy 1. Blue Oyster Cult - Agents Of Fortune ____ Honorable Mentions to All of the Albums that I Forgot to mention. __
Some perfect Rock albums (in my opinion).....Nazareth- No Mean City.....Nazareth- Hair of the Dog.....Jethro Tull- Aqualung....Aerosmith -Rock in a hard place...'Grand Funk Railroad- On Time....Ten Years After- A space in Time.... Iron Butterfly-Scorching beauty....Led Zeppelin- Every single Album!....Motley Crue- Too Fast for Love....Fleetwood Mac- Rumors....The Beatles- Revolver....Not everyone's choice I'm sure.....But I've played em a million times!
Hi Larry. Good topic for a video. Some classic rock albums that deserve, for me, the label of perfect albums are: -BOB DYLAN BLONDE ON BLONDE (1966) -THE DOORS (1967) -THE BEATLES ABBEY ROAD (1969) -THE ROLLING STONES LET IT BLLED (1969) -LED ZEPPELIN IV (1971) -DEEP PURPLE MADE IN JAPAN (1972) -YES CLOSE TO THE EDGE (1972) -ELTON JOHN GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD (1973) -AC DC HIGHWAY TO HELL (1979) -IRON MAIDEN PiECE OF MIND (1983) -RADIOHEAD OK COMPUTUER (1997) Greetings from Monterrey, Mexico.
1. Physical Graffiti 2. Who's Next 3. The Doors 4. Dark Side Of The Moon 5. Sticky Fingers 6. A Night At The Opera 7. Rumors 8. Abbey Road 9. Boston 10. Highway To Hell 11. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road 12. Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
I think I already mentioned it on another video of yours, but here it goes again anyway: The Chicago Transit Authority. That's a perfect album for me, specially considering it's a double LP (double LPs usually have their fair share of filler). Even "Free Form Guitar", which obviously isn't for the average listener, is a great track in a different way.
Some perfect albums in my opinion: Black Sabbath- Master of Reality Led Zeppelin- IV Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here Jethro Tull- Thick As a Brick Steely Dan- Aja Boston- Boston Fleetwood Mac- Rumours Metallica- Master of Puppets Stone Temple Pilots- Purple I Mother Earth- Scenery and Fish The Tragically Hip- Fully Completely Aerosmith- Rocks Jimi Hendrix- Are You Experienced? The Doors- L.A Woman
I meant to add Zeppelin 4 to my list. Master of Puppets is a great choice - Orion ❤️ LA Woman has my two favorite Doors songs - The Changeling and Hyacinth House.
My 3 most essential Bowie albums are Station To Station , Low & Scary Monsters. Because I really like Panorama ..I like the first 5 Cars albums all about equally. They finally slipped a bit on Door To Door & promptly broke up.
For me, a few flawless heavy rock (pre metal) albums are: 1) Black Sabbath - Master Of Reality (1971) 2) Bang - self titled (1971) 3) Deep Purple - D. P In Rock (1970) 4) Night Sun - Mournin' (1972) 5) Gun - self titled (1969) 6) Sir Lord Baltimore - Kingdom Come (1970) 7) Atomic Rooster - Death Walks Behind You (1970) 8) Lucifer's Friend - self titled (1970)
I know these lists are subjective, but RELAYER, as an album, doesn't blow smoke on CLOSE TO THE EDGE. CLOSE TO THE EDGE has the superior concept; superior arrangements; superior lyrics and virtuoso playing - playing as good as any album I've listened to. I think CLOSE TO THE EDGE is one of the best albums of all time.
Dark Side of the Moon, Led Zeppelin 4, Rummers, Sgt Pepper, Wheels of Fire, Abbey Road, Boston, Sticky Fingers,Eat a Peach, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, A Night at the Opera,Ram, Plastic Ono Band 12 perfect albums plus 1 by me
Dude, what is really weird is I know Dave too! His is smaller than mine. I mean his record collection, not that... My middle name is Dale and so is his! His full name is Dave Dale Doppelganger!
Nesmith , Loose Salute , Byrds , Sweetheart of the Rodeo , Dylan , Blood on the Tracks , Young , Tonight's the Night , Zombies , Odyssey and Oracle top 5
well this video started off really well... but went down hill quite quickly and then picked up again right at the end😂 Interesting picks - London Town surprised me. For me Ziggy is definitely in this category. Who's Next would be another. Thanks for the shouts Larry
Idea: Do a feature on the best extra/bonus tracks on CD releases. I know that the Devo Are We Not Men? Has the entire album live on the same CD so that's a good one. or Rank your top 10 Beatles Solo Non Album Tracks. Instant Karma/Boogaloo/Another Day/ Oh Woman Oh Why /Bangladesh/Hi Hi Hi/ Power to the People etc
I think all but four Beatles albums are perfect Larry and I still love those albums anyway, those four imperfect albums are Beatles For Sale because after making an all original album A Hard Days Night on this their next album they included a couple of covers, maybe they were just tired, they sure look like it on the cover, the original release of Yellow Submarine because of all the orchestral music on it,Help because again they put a cover on it Dizzie Miss Lizzie that doesn't fit the album and number four Let It Be because they didn't really finish the album and how come Don't Let Me Down was not included?,why would they leave such a great song off the album? Bob
I think David Bowie’s best album is Ziggy Stardust, I personally love his cover of It Ain’t Easy. London Town is an excellent Paul McCartney & Wings album, I don’t think it’s perfect though.
So every song has to be about the war? Pretty silly reason not to like the band in my opinion. Their songs weren't even about peace and love. I think Tjhe Beatles did more peace and love songs than CCR ever did, and there is nothing wrong with that. John Fogerty wrote about the Vietnam war by the way: "The song Fortunate Son was written as a response to the Vietnam War, and became an anthem for the anti-war movement. However, what makes the song so significant is that it is one of Creedence Clearwater Revival's most popular songs, despite its political message."

# 1. Breakfast In America - Supertramp
# 2. The Southern Harmony & Musical Companion - The Black Crowes
# 3. Alpha Zulu - Phoenix
Interesting choices. Cosmos Factory would certainly be on my list.
Nesmith , Loose Salute , Byrds , Sweetheart of the Rodeo , Dylan , Blood on the Tracks , Young , Tonight's the Night , Zombies , Odyssey and Oracle top 5

Golden Earring Moontan and the first BOC album are perfect for me
😊good ones, Larry.
I think David Bowie’s best album is Ziggy Stardust, I personally love his cover of It Ain’t Easy. London Town is an excellent Paul McCartney & Wings album, I don’t think it’s perfect though.
Great List Larry!! I would say Astral Weeks by Van Morrison is on there along with Queen II and Abbey Road. There are way too many of them to list.
I almost picked Astral Weeks, but then I remembered I don't like Van Morrison these days, ha ha.
Lol I can understand, he can be a grumpy old man. I totally understand why you feel that way these days.@@canadianstudmuffin
Coney Island great album. Sabatoge agree with your assessment as is grand funks red album. I would say Ian hunters first solo album is a perfect album
Silence is Golden would be THE PERFECT RECORD if nothing was on it 😂
I would choose Pinkerton or Blue Album both by Weezer as the PERFECT album
Pinkerton is a excellent album, underrated imo.
You should do a list entitled “NOT SO GREAT SONGS ON 12 CLASSIC ROCK ALBUMS”
All bow to Larry! Haha. Love Scot.
Hi Larry I always thought that Who's Next was the best album from beginning .
Great album although I am not a big fan of Going Mobile.
I hope your laundry went very well.
My favorite shirt smells so clean!
Slow Train Coming? Wow. That’s an out there choice
Led Zeppelin IV
Aqualung
Crime Of The Century
A Night At The Opera
Who's Next
Master Of Reality
Machine Head
Supertramp: Crime of the Century...
would kill some of these 😢
Yes, it's a perfect album, but I love all of these albums also.
Relayer is great.
Yes! 🙂
No Beatles?
There are more than 12 perfect albums in my collection and I like to sometimes talk about other artists.
What if. Larry has just been stealing Scott’s ideas for the past 20 years…. Hmmm, maybe Larry isn’t real after all
I have to disagree, I don't like CCR at all. The 1960's was not all peace and love. There was a war going on!
So every song has to be about the war? Pretty silly reason not to like the band in my opinion. Their songs weren't even about peace and love. I think Tjhe Beatles did more peace and love songs than CCR ever did, and there is nothing wrong with that. Are you sure you and Stephen King are not related? Because you both sure like to cause us all Misery
If I cause you misery, go elsewhere. I have a lot of supporters on this channel who enjoy my content. Thanks.
