It isn't just the German trees that have paper vehicles.

Exactly. The Germans are being targeted now, but what will come of this policy? So many Japanese vehicles are paper vehicles, too. Russians have a fair amount of prototypes, as well, albeit most of them seem to be premiums. I'm more concerned with the fact that these vehicles are being substituted with generic vehicles from other nations, specifically America. That takes away so much of the uniqueness of each tree. Of course I'm glad they're at least making it possible to keep and still research these vehicles if you've already started research or have purchased them, but I have a feeling it'll take away from new people coming in. War Gaming (World of Tanks/World of Warplanes) are probably very happy that Gaijin is doing this.

The maus is not being removed because it is a paper vehicle. The panther 2, tiger 105 and the coelian are being removed because they're paper tanks.
The official statement is that the maus is being removed because it can not be balanced. But as they have stated that it will be in future events, meaning you will most likely unlock a coupon that can be sold on the Marketplace. Besides that, good video! :)

Thank you! You are correct. When the tank came out, it was really at a crossroads between armor still raining supreme and ammo types that could defeat anything. Unfortunately, as you pointed out, the tank is basically the same way in the game. If it faces WWII vehicles and is the top BR tank, it'll do fine, if not great. If it's facing any post WWII vehicle, especially those with HEAT and Sabot, it gets wrecked. Interestingly enough, as more and more 7.0 - 8.0 tanks get HEAT, the Maus has become less relevant, anyways. I wonder if there would be a way to have people using Maus tanks get into matches with fewer people that use these high penetration shells? Either way, I can understand why, as I always had a tough time using the Maus because of these things, but it still stinks, because I feel that the Maus is a huge draw for history buffs. It was one of the main reasons why I initially switched from World of Tanks to War Thunder, because I liked War Thunder's gameplay + it had the Maus available, which sealed the deal.

@@Tankenstein It being such an iconic tank is the reason why I'm certain they will add it to the market place. It would sell for thousands of gaijin just like the e100.

WoT has gotten that much better? Or has WT gotten that much worse? I used to really enjoy WoT, but the constant grind with few returns killed it for me. That and the need to spend money on the game continuously to get anywhere.

Lol you think WOT is bad I used to play WOT blitz which is becoming more and more of a cash grab every year, On the War Thunder side I hope Gaijin cancels the decision to remove the Maus from the tech tree or makes it so you can research it after reaching a certain rank like the Ha-Go

@@ghostdivison5439 The crazy thing is that so much of the German tree is made up of prototypes, especially between 7.0 and 8.0. The HO-229, Maus, Tiger 10.5cm, Panther II, Me-262 C series, and even the DO-335 planes in the lower BRs. The DO-335 never saw combat except for maybe once when it outran a British plane with no shots fired from the DO-335. So much of the German tree would have to be dismantled if Gaijin wanted to be consistent with their approach. Ultimately, this would also mean the ME-262 HG I and HG II could never be in the game outside of being event vehicles or a limited time purchasable premium. If this were to happen, would we just replace original and largely effective German vehicles with imported copy and paste vehicles? At this rate, with its vehicles in so many tech trees in the game, America would end up being the arms supplier in the game which makes it so no nation is unique.

Long live the Maus! We shall not go gentle into that good night!

Everyone who owns a Maus should get into the queue at the same time on the day the patch comes out, almost like a somewhat final hoorah from everyone who can do so.
