    Love I-70 in Utah! A great reward after grinding through traffic and constant construction in Colorado

    Ending 2020 by ending I-70, couldn't have programmed it any better.

    Was traveling east some years back on 70, right near the top of the grade as you enter from 15 , I caught a glimpse of something moving on my right side and backed off on the throttle at the same time a new Mercury passed on the left at high speed, the automobile and deer collided, sky is raining venison, the hood on the car folds back on the windshield and the driver heads for the right shoulder. I pulled in behind him and together we pulled the hood down and bailing wired it in to place, his comment, “Someone is trying to enlighten me, that’s twice in one week at the same place.”

    @8:26 I never realized Interstate 70 was supposed to end at Interstate 25 in Denver for the original plans. After driving U.S. 6/US. 191 from Green River, UT to Spanish Fork, UT I wondered why they didn't build Interstate 70 or theoretical 70N in that direction. I drove that at night for the first time and it sucked!

    Sorry for the belated comment. But thanks for showcasing the final miles of I-70 West. The Eastern end of the freeway was to be at I-95 in Baltimore. But freeway revolts kept that from happening & it dead ends at a Park N Ride.
    See ya in 2021!

    Excellent scenery and rather empty roads. Thanks for uploading another great road movie. I actually prefer to watch them at half speed. Keep safe and hopefully we will see a new set of videos being produced un the new year.

    I wonder if one day I-70 will be extended (via US-50) to Nevada communities such as Ely, Fallon and then end at I-80 in Fernley (near Reno) while another extended freeway (maybe I-170) meet with I-580 in Carson City, but then I thought it would become the loneliest freeway in America.

    • @EASbear
      @EASbear 3 года назад

      Yeah, but if I-11 was extended north, will there be an interchange?

    Good video. Great scenery and a beautiful day. Even without Covid, there wouldn't be that much traffic that time of year, one assumes. I went that way in late March of '97 to Moab (Arches NP, and there wasn't that much even then. Actually had a nice drive, and at the Chevron in Beaver? Got self-serve gas, but the attendant asked if he could check my oil and tires. Told him to go right ahead, so I got full service for a self-service price.

    I like the story Kyle told on the Virgin River Gorge video how Utah re-allocated some of their Federal highway funds to the state of Arizona to fund I-15 through the gorge. Best money they spent for the state of Utah.

    Hey you shot this on my 43rd Birthday! I've to that Park & Ride in Baltimore. The Western Terminus just might be a little more exciting. Have a Happy New Year my friend.

    Looks like while the last trip was more Arizona/New Mexico based, this one will be more Utah/Colorado based

    Have you ever considered doing a New England trip? typing from Vermont here

    • @InterstateKyle
      @InterstateKyle  3 года назад +1

      New England is really far away from me, it’s easily 2,500+ miles. I’d love too, someday. I hope to go there within the next 10 years or so.

      I hope you can take a trip East some time soon, too...like the eastern part of I-70. You can see the peculiar junction of I-70 in Breezewood, PA, where it ends, you drive through a few traffic lights, and are back on the highway, heading to Baltimore. Or west to the Pittsburgh area.

      @@elizabethorsillo7187 I-70 also crosses itself in that exact same area as well!
