This is just absolutely stupid. The guy should have gotten arrested for what he was doing. Plus if the rockets were damaging cars then they would have to pay for all of it. The police should’ve done something but it seems like they were responding to another emergency. I don’t understand people.
They were most likely on a joyride in a stolen car with fictitious plates anyways, no way to find the people, and a single cop couldn't handle it, they'd just bail and run.
Thieves get brazen because they get away with so much. They've all likely been arrested 3+ times, and ran from the police successfully many more times than that.

4. Not all people will ever be good people. Nobody likes hearing that, but that is just how life works

As a former Californian I do know fireworks are illegal in the state.... Got busted using them in my driveway, with a full bucket of water and ones that don't shoot in the air by the San Joaquin County Sherrifs Deputies, several years ago...... But with as much lawlessness going on in California this was probably the guys way of giving the middle finger.... And yea off the bridge is one thing but setting them off on the bridge and on other's cars is just stupid to say the least.

They're not illegal. Firework rules are very localized so one county might have vastly different rules compared to another. And even if they are illegal, they're not enforced. You see firework stands pop up around July 4 and fireworks go off for two weeks before and after the 4th.

A neighbor teen living in a bachelor basement studio of her aunt once posted on facebook an invitation to her friends to her birthday party, but she mistakingly posted the invitation to ALL her FACEBOOK FRIENDS. That evening busloads of young people started to arrive . There was over a hundred young adults all over our small street and they did stay around trying to figure what to do standing on the street and on neighbour's lawns, a few IDIOTS sitting on cars etc. One neighbor called the police and when a patrol car showed up more than an hour later there was still about 50 left. The neighbour complained about the lateness, the cop asked him if he would want him to come fast for a wife beater on the street or a bunch of peaceful strangers figuring out where they would go ! THE COPS HAVE A PRIORITY CODE GIVEN TO THEM and when it is an non-violent annoyance call it is on the very bottom of the dispatch list. COPS JOB IS PROTECTING LIVES AND FIGHTING CRIME, IN THAT ORDER !
It's in California where the DA doesn't prosecute nonviolent crimes, so the officer knew if he arrested him, he'd just be out the next day.
@@rayr6278That is a violent crime. It's assault with a deadly weapon and public endangerment. Additionally, it is possession of illegal fireworks/explosives, damaging of property over a certain amount, arsen/attempted arsen.
The cop was on its way to arrest another guy shooting fireworks on the Golden Gate bridge, so he could stop to arrest this one.
Then he was going the wrong direction to get to the GG...
first of all, it is not "bottle rockets" that are being used. They are called "roman candles" which are cardboard tubes filled with multiple charges that go off one after the other and propel into the air where they then explode their final charge. They are pretty neat and fun to play with but can be fairly dangerous in specific situations. The guy was not too bright to be shooting them off in the direction of the bridge structure but aiming them out over the water or air off the bridge would be a safe display.
Not a safe display at all when you have a truck nearby venting liquid oxygen...

One time, I was stuck in traffic in Paris (1hour to do 40 meters). Some people was starting to be very upset and they start a klaxon concert. They all stop when I made my tesla join the show with fart noise. Different kind of reaction, some were upset, but people next to my car understood where that fart noise came and started to applause while making us signs :)
A few years ago, back when things were still kind of normal, there would have been substantial possibility of that person being SHOT by the COP.
Truck driver definitely got him to stop. He either mentioned what he was hauling, or threatened to knock his lights out. Or both. Notice the last few rounds only go off the side of the bridge.

I’m from the Bay Bridge area and I can vouch it’s a new norm while stuck in traffic.
Roman candles are an (A) tier firework. The ability to shoot 5-10 fireballs like a wizard is dope AF. Beer and marijuana enhance the experience pushing Roman candles to (S) tier when 10 domesticated light beers are consumed.
I'm the one who shot the video. It was crazy that the cops did nothing. Sorry about my swearing. I think there might have been a sideshow further on the bridge that caused the backup. Once I got past the backup I saw no signs of an accident. Sideshows are a common problem on the Bay Bridge and this was a bit past 2am Sunday morning. That's the only reason I can see that the cops didn't do anything. My Tesla is a very early one so this was shot with a Blackvue aftermarket dashcam.
