- Drag Race Espana S1 Episode 4 Snatch Game Reaction. The Episode four of Drag Race is the SNATCH GAME!! We are doing reaction to episode 4 but it is limited so it doesn't get removed for copyright. The full reaction is on Patreon! The episode started with the queens roasting each other in the first ever Reading challenge in Drag Race Espana! The queens were greeted by the best pit crew with reading glasses and they started reading each other to filth! Then on to the Snatch Game! Basically everyone on Snatch Game was new to us. It was ok but kind of hard to understand everything. The winner of the mini challenge was Pupi Poisson. Then to the main stage runway the queens had 3 separate looks they had to show! We love a multiple look challenge but with so many looks we were unable to do MAS O MENOS! The winner this week was Killer Queen! The bottom 2 queens were Hugaceo Crujiente and Arantxa Castilla La Mancha. The queens to leave was Arantxa Castilla La Mancha. Do you think the right queen went home??? About Puppi's snatch game, Karina, she is a singer that represent Spain in 1971 in Eurovision Song Contest. She is veeeeery kind, and never gets angry. Her tone of voice is very high, and she is always saying thank you for everything. At the quarantine she discover instagram and invent a song about the face masks.

The reveal of Puppi has a lot of interesting things. Here is Spain there was an era about Marbella being the center of luxury at 90's and 00's. So a lot of famous people shown herself in summer year by year, and Rappel (the reveal) was one of them. He was the "tarotist" of the famous, and always wear colorfull dresses. It's a character. So Puppi made the drag Rappel reveal.
Hello!! Ok, this episode has been ICONIC here in Spain. All spanish fans were crazy looking forward to it because of all the local characters that we could see on snatch game, and it PAID OFF for us, but for foreigners I understand that is complicated.
Carmen's character: Dakota is a girl from a TV reality show where a coach visits families that have a difficult/troublesome teenager son or daughter. They are often aggresive with their families, selfish, and abusive. So the coach tries to help them to be better. Dakota was one of these teenagers, but for some reason she gained simpathy from the audience and also her clips from the show became viral, because of the way she talked and the kind of catchy sentences that she said like 'de la carcel se sale, pero del cementerio no' 'you get out of jail but not from the cemetery'.
(Karina and Encarnita are already explained in other comments, Monalisa needs no introduction)
Duchess of Alba (Dovimas'): Was a duchess who was very famous during the eighties and nineties she had a very characteristic way of speaking and moving slowly which I think Dovima portrayed pretty fine.
Belén Esteban: Nowadays she works in a talk show with other hosts and they comment news about the life of celebrities or reality shows from the same tv channel. She became famous in the nineties when she married a famous bullfighter called Jesulín de Ubrique, but she became even more famous when they got divorced. She is called 'the people's princess' like Lady D but in her case is because she used to be considered as a Choni (kind of from the hood) so when she started to work on TV a lot of people felt represented. There she was, a girl from humble area, seated in TV with all those rich people (in the nineties TV was reeeeeally well paid, and people tought that everyone on TV was rich). She has a lot of catchy phrases and has become a meme several times. Arantxas interpretation was not the best, to be honest. I think, if there are more seasons, there are going to be more Belén Esteban on Snatch Game.
Killers' character: Isabel Díaz Ayuso, is the President of the Region of Madrid. She is from a conservative, very conservative, party. She sometimes look like she is insane and other times, like she is just evil. Needless to say that her party always votes against any law or regulation in favour of the LGBTQ+ community. Killers acting was good, she didn't quite sound or fully looked like Isabel, but the things she mentioned and the way she portrayed her like crazy, confused, fake, etc. were good.
Concepts from the runway:
CHONI is more like girl from the hood, but kind of mixed with trashy.
Ejecutiva agresiva is more like Aggresive Businesswoman.
Jet Set Marbellí: Marbella is a rich tourists area in the South of Spain, in Málaga, which is known in the whole country because:
1) A lot of famous people used to go there on their vacation mostly during the nineties
2) There was a famousMayor of Marbella called Jesús Gil (that's why the jury uses the achronim G.I.L.) who was tooootally like the Mayor of The Simpsons, a corrupt mysoginistic sexist and everything-you-can-imagine, he was really rich and he controlled everything in Marbella, he was the one who made Marbella a compulsory vacation stop for all the famous people from Spain or abroad. So Marbella was the home of the welthy and the wannabes, it was the place where Spanish tabloids got their covers everyday. That's why they all were sunburned and drunk, drugs and alcohol were very common.
But nowadays, despite the place is still an expensive area, it is not what it used to be. Most of the Spanish people who were famous in the nineties, today are either dead or not famous anymore.
During the early 2010 decade, the place was on the covers of the tabloids due to an affaire between Spanish copla singer Isabel Pantoja and another corrupt mayor of Marbella, she even ended up in jail.
I like Arantxa but I think it was about her time to go. For one moment I thought that Hugaceo was going to sashay, but no, I still think she is going to win the season. I wasn't sure about Killer wining, but she was fun on the snatch game and more or less her looks were consistent on the runway, like the jury said, it was like the same character evolving, from young choni, middle businesswoman who gained some coins and then ended up old and tanned and drunk in Marbella like a second class famous. Puppi was spot on in the snatch game but the only flawless look was the last one, the other two were not quite enough.
(Sorry for the long comment, but in this episode there was 'mucha tela que cortar' (idiom for a lot of things to comment)).
I hope you have better luck with these videos. I also liked your Más o Menos from last week but i really missed the full reaction format. This was so fun to watch, omg your reaction to Sagittaria's surprise was everything.

Ayuso is not the mayor of Madrid, that's Almeida. She's the president of the Comunidad de Madrid (Comunity of Madrid). For non-sapaniards, Spain has 17 diferent autonomous comunities (Andalucía, Estremadura, Castilla-La mancha (Arantxa's name joke), Cataluña, Comunidad de Madrid...) and two autonomous cities (Ceuta y Melilla), and each of them has their own government and competences.

About Saggitaria's snatch game, it's hilarious. Encarnita (the character) became famous with her sister because a journalist made an investigation in Granada about a Baptisterio Romano (an ancient building), and she and his sister were the "protector" of this place. They spoke in a very funny way, and inmediatly, youtube made them famous. They passed away a few years ago. You can find the video here in youtube.

Besides Hugaceo and maybe Arantxa, The snatch game for me was pretty good. I was laughing a lot but my spanish boyfriend was in tears cracking up.

Like the host said on the episode, this is the best cast. The jokes were fanny, but not only that, they were brilliant. It's a bit frustrating that you guys won't get to appreciate the snatch game and the reading challenge bcs of the lenguage. Great episode and i love that you are enjoying it as well!!!

The difficulty on understanding this episode’s comedy, I think, in this case, goes beyond just the language, because I’m a native spanish speaker, but from latinamerica, I know nothing about Spain’s pop culture, so I didn’t get most of the jokes and references from snatch game, so I couldn’t enjoy it as much, except for killer, her character, was pretty relatable, we all have some shady politicians in our countries so it was easy to understand, everybody else were just way too specific, which isn’t bad, just harder to relate to or laugh at. I love you guys, thank you for taking your time to create this content on DR España, and giving it all the credits it deserves, not so many creators are giving this season the spotlight and they are definitively missing out, thank you thank you so much!! love from Colombia

As a Spanish person the snatch game was sooooo great, I didn't really like Mona Lisa, duquesa de alba (dovima) and belen esteban (arantxa) could have been better since the characters were really good chosen but fell off in my opinion, Dakota (Carmen) and Karina (pupi) I really liked them a lot, and Isabel Díaz ayuso (killer) and encarnita (sagitaria) were ICONIC SO SO GOOD FCKING HILARIOUS
I think sagitaria was just on point with the character, said every perfect memorable sentence from the character in the correct time but killer for me had more merit since she chose the president of Madrid so its a more difficult person to play but she did it extremely great and was hilarious every time if you know the real person and what she is referencing
Im from Spain, the reading challenge was fun but the snach game was EVERYTHING, and also Pupi’s reveal. It is very difficult to enjoy these challenges if you dont get the references or know the characters (thats what happens to us when we watch the USA snach game)
Spain has a very very important trashy culture about the characters of the magazines, etc, and I understand it's difficult for foreign people to know the deep of the meanings. But, here I am, every question you have, ask me and I will try to explain :)

@@otronombre4403 well, Choni is a typical girl of 16 years who wants to be fashion and looks badly. Se tries to follow cheap fashion, and they are very bad speakers, has no very high culture and her propose in life is having a boyfriend with a good car and money to spend in gold luxury xd
The eyeliner was a specific character, the big rings of silver, electric colours (pink, blue...), loves to drink at the street before to get into the bars and are very loudly
As a spaniard the reading challenge was horrible, but the snatch game was everything.

They translated Choni to Trashy but Chonis are basically the spanish version of these tacky british girls that boomed a while ago on Tik Tok parodies: leopard print, fluor colors, 2 inches of make-up etc.

It is just so nice to watch foreigners enjoy this Spanish version, because despite it is a huge international franchise the Spanish component here is quite hard. So I feel that other things and ingredients are touching people abroad and are making this people follow and enjoy the season and that makes me so happy!

As a Spanish person I can say that this Snatch Game was pure GOLD. There are TV famous people, there are memes from random people who went viral on the Internet, there are politicians! It was funny, political, absurd...it was hilarious. And it was the first time I understood the jokes in a Snatch Game 😂 after 13 american seasons 😂

I loved this episode! I get why the Snatch Game is difficult for non-Spaniards to understand as most characters come from Spanish pop culture, so I'm going to link some of the characters here for your reference because they are really funny. To me, the best ones were Sagitaria and Carmen, they nailed their characters and Sagitaria was the funniest! I really don't get why Killer Queen won this episode, but I'm not mad. The reading challenge was very very weak. Dovima, Carmen and Pupi were the best.
Dovima was hilarious reading Sagitaria: your body reads woman, but your face "Proyecto hombre" (Man/Humankind project, if you translate directly, which is the name of a drug users charity. She plays with the usage of hombre in her reading to call her "half man" and a drug addict in one go)
I think the name of the second category (ejecutiva agresiva) is just a play on words originating from the title of the film Anger Management, which was translated into Ejecutivo Agresivo in Spain. The runway doesn't have to do anything with the film but it's just a catchy expression in Spanish bc it rhymes

even though i only knew one character, i still was laughing at Pupi, Killer and Sagittaria. They killed snatch game AND the ball (even pupi served some good looks).

About next episode, the acting challenge is about Física o Química, a very popular tv series (teenagers' melodrama) , in wich Javier Calvo (one of the judges in Drag Race) was one of the main characters. Javier Calvo was the gay boy of the class, and in that moment (early 2000s) it was a gay icon for teenager generation.

Hey! I just wanted to let you know regarding your question at the end of the video, so here's a breakdown:
This Snatch Game is officially LGBTQ+ history in Spain! It was iconic and it's a shame that it doesn't translate to other countries or languages, but the characters were very focused on Spanish memes, reality TV culture or pop references.
The library was also good but it gets lost in translation, just as the snatch game. Dovima was playing a famous dutchess who dated younger men while she was on her 90s. Sagittaria played a meme of this woman who owned Roman ruins in the south of Spain and did a surreal interview on TV showing them off. Carmen was playing a problematic teenager that also became a meme after appearing on an intervention-like TV show. And Arantxa was the wife of a famous bullfighter who ended up working on TV and competing on many realities, her manager stole from her, hence her famous line "PÁGAME" (pay me), which she repeated constantly on various Tv shows.
In 8:12 when Kika Lorace seems to throw beef at Belén Esteban (Arantxa la Mancha) she's not doing that, she's impersonating Belén Esteban too and that's why she says "Jorge", because Belén works on a Gossip show where the presenter is Jorge Javier Vázquez (he's openly gay so she said it like Supreme looks like him)

Being Spain, I expected much more from snatch game, but it is indeed way better than most of them (when you understand it).
Killer won because it was a storyline

As a latinamerican person (spanish-speaking) the reading challenge was pretty good, but the snatch game was kinda confusing tbh, I think all references except for the Gioconda were very local from Spain so I didn't get most of the jokes.
What you experienced is what plenty of us go through until we learn about American Pop Culture!
The snatch game was pretty good. But some jokes are very difficult to understand. Even for Spanish speakers. It is not the same humor in Spain, as in Argentina or Colombia, etc. I love you, kisses.

I saw all your four reactions and I loved them! I'm from Spain and I'll catch up in there: in ep 1 you said why they won't stop saying f*gs but it's because in Spain we use it a lot, LGBT+ themselves because homophobes used to call them "maricones" to make fun of them but gays got the word and made it theirs as in: You can call us f*gs because that's what we are. So there's still people who uses it as an insult but inside the LGBT+ community is pretty normal to say that, you should ask the person tho, because there's people who's still feeling hurt by it.

Of all the Drag Race episodes, Snatch Game has no place in my heart. I don't like the comedy implemented on this competition. I learned to speak Spanish fluently, but is Mexican and for most of us living in the U.S. it is the Spanish language we are all familiar with. I REALLY dont understand how Dovima was safe while Aranxta was eliminated. I felt Aranxta was better in the snatch game, and did decent in the ball, especially for her. Dovima was suprisingly underwhelming in the ball for a fashion queen, and did mediocre in the snatch game.
