Yep let them sleep. Where she's at now gives her sustainability to afford making studio albums while still have pretty full control over her art. We stan a lowkey queen. Plus she's had a couple hits that have been on the radio/made billboard 100 I believe.

Banks packs more emotion in a single word than most artists do in a whole song
From an astrological stand point she is plutonian. Her moon sign is in aspect to pluto which rules Scorpio and moon is emotions. I have the same aspect in my chart and it is raw and at times emotionally dark aspect. Emotions are taken to extremes and they suffer a lot of deep but toxic relationships. I'm again talking from experience of both myself and astrology and the expression of those feelings seems to be similar in people with this aspect. I guess that is just one reason that she expresses in the way that she does. Pluto =raw emotion 😉

This is so sad and beautiful. Not because of what may be obvious to the naked eye but the fact that on some level this person trying to mold themselves to fit what the other person wants put themselves there. That's why the nature is covered in colorful designs, because they themselves are not seeing their beauty and potential and allowed themselves to be treated this way by a toxic relationship. The man is married. What did you expect? You know? Goodness I feel this so deep.
Everytime she gets so desperately knocked back down despite her exhaustive efforts to fight the toxicity, I die a little inside with her almost. It makes it so real. SO MUCH EMOTION!

When I thought words couldn't express my emotions.......this song does.
It is about toxic relationship that she got thrown into, realizing it is toxic she tries to make it work , toxicity in a relationship deteriorates people overtime, she held onto it as much as she could take, till it almost killed her then she let go realizing only one of them can stay in that relationship making a sacrifice . That is my interpretation of it.

This song never fails to bring out all the emotions in me that someone could feel
Beautiful and deeply symbolic. The rock structure serves two purposes; firstly, they represent the foundation of the relationship BANKS is describing, secondly, the discoloration indicates that the contamination is a part of the creation, integral to its current form, perhaps even a metaphor of original sin. The rock formation is meant to protect her, but in reality in imprisons her. The dancer cannot separate herself from the contamination, being deeply committed to the relationship, so much so that she is figuratively crippled by its power. The dance illustrates a tug of war as a reflection of her inner turmoil. The back and forth struggle of trying to free herself, but having no control to change anything. Ultimately, she knows that she needs to leave, but realizes that she is a part of the toxicity, complicit in a way and has no other choice but to succumb to a power greater than her own.
