I like how Riddley Scott is just talking casually with the rest of them, this dude is a legend,he's made some amazing films
amazing films and the martian
Seth rogan looks like he smoked a joint before this and just realised he’s sat next to Riddley Scott 😅
Not in the passed 20 years
@@jaredwallace3270 agree
“We live in a very politically charged time”
Seth Rogen: “oh we’re jumping straight into that huh”
I laughed so hard at this comment its so true xD
Only down to earth there
Apatow is a bellend
You probably dont give a damn but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account??
I was dumb lost my account password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Kylen Ulises instablaster :)
Ridley Scott sitting next to Seth Rogan talking about filmmaking is something I never thought I'd see. Love it.
I'm in some weird way so proud of Judd for not only bringing us movies we wouldn't otherwise see but for being such a straight up, straight forward good guy. What a great conversation with a great group of individuals.
Man every time Ridely speaks the room goes quiet...rightfully so
Also the guy who talks over them isn't here thank god
John uh Jacobs Stephen fucking Galloway
James De Bello
For reasons of balance there's always one older heavy hitter in the room such as Ridley Scott, Jeff Bridges, Annette Benning, Oliver Stone, Michael Caine, Jeffrey Tabor or Sting . Now the overall outcome of hearing wise ways or otherwise the opposite with a distinguished dog learning new tricks. Iregardless and actually irrelevant to which way the sway may go both become equally interesting and just love the fact this formula is used.
how dare this drop before the full cinematographers roundtable.
7:30 *Amy Pascal:* _I think that studios are afraid to make certain kinds of movies._
But Amy, you *are* the "studio"! You *are* the system!
are those sony leaks still available ? we know home girl is lying
She doesn't run Sony anymore
OK? Sony makes movies like those
She helped start the new little women
That's what the elite do. Come into the public and say sound-bytes to make themselves seem as part of the general crowd and non-establishment. Then they go back into their offices and do the same shit over and over again.
Jason Blum had several fascinating tangents. I never knew the guy was so involved.
I wish I was a billionaire, I'd just waste it all giving it to great filmmakers and just let them make whatever the fuck they want
Red-Son I wish you were a billionaire too.
I wish the same...
The fact that people are thinking that way is great...
I would give David Fincher 10 Billion and give him time to just take us wherever his mind takes him.
Yeah man, that’s the dream. To be rich enough to have your own studio, and then you just throw money at your favorite filmmakers and let them make they want.
I really wish they had Kevin Feige on here. It would be fun to see what other producers think about the Marvel machine.
Captain Chev Your wish came true.
@lilmil YOUR WISH CAME TRUE
or john favreau
Hopefully they’d rip him a new one
This is how to moderate!
We're looking at you, Stephen Galloway
He is the best of the four
how dare this drop before the full cinematographers roundtable.
Now these are some smart insightful conversations into the complicated world of film-making. Loved it!
This is great .. Seth just transforms the dynamic at these tables and everyone seems more relaxed, friendly and open 😎
Yeah, I think having Seth there helps the others not take themselves as seriously and encourages everyone to relax a little and have fun with it.
I'm an architect, and its funny watching all these round tables. The directors are like architects, the producers are developers, and the actors are craftsmen
1:01:28 "You always have a choice between your ambition and your ego. And you have to be very clear which one you're choosing all the time. Because, it’s really hard not to choose your ego. But it doesn’t work." --Brilliant!!
HEY HOLLYWOOD REPORTER!! THIS IS WHAT A GOOD PANEL HOST LOOKS LIKE. KEEP THIS GUY. USE HIM FOR ALL FUTURE ROUNDTABLES AND GET RID OF THAT AWFUL HACKJOB YOU USE ON THE OTHER VIDEOS. WE ALL HATE THE OTHER GUY.
I love these roundtables...so much
This interviewer is much better than the other guy, please keep him!
Enjoyed the excellent interactions between the producers. It was interesting to hear of their histories with one another.
Speaking to Eric Fellner's point about the cruciality of a film's final moments: The last five minutes of BLADE RUNNER 2049 are something to behold--a true visual masterwork, and one of my favourite endings to any film in years.
I love this moderator, he allows the conversation to evolve and go into interesting places. These roundtables are so intriguing, as they allow the viewer to kind of see the BTS of movie making and the way the industry communicates internally.
And funnily enough, Ridley explains in this very interview how he ruins that ending with the canon of the reboot.
These...are truly valuable!
My favorite roundtable so far. So many gems. Thank you.
Superb program, keep them coming
very great work by the interviewer to lead the conversation instead of forcing it. once a great conversation you shouldn't suppress it but lead it in certain ways. it's not about the interviewer, but about the people you wanna hear talk. work well done.
This was surprisingly the best roundtable! Their is more insight and experience in this table than any of the actors and directors table. Everyone had valid points, I dont agree with Ridley when it comes to criticism. Journalist do have a duty of reporting but it shouldn't be an attack on someone. When creating art, it can be taken personal if not understood.
But in the end Hollywood is a business. If the audience doesn't understand your art, then you can't blame journalists or audiences who voice their critiques. The first Blade Runner was very specific and audiences were split. Even Blade Runner 2049 didn't do well and that was a beautiful movie. Hollywood thrives on 50% creativity but also 50% business savinness.
This moderator should do all of these roundtables!
Clearly the smoothest and least intrusive
No Galloway!!! Such a nice feeling
Now these are some smart insightful conversations into the complicated world of film-making. Loved it!
One of the best roundtables ever !
loved this!!!
This was an excellent round table.
an hour is not enough for them!!! so interesting especially Amy Pascal's work and experiences as producer and former studio head.
how dare this drop before the full cinematographers roundtable.
I'm so ready for that cinematographers episode omg.
What an amazing round table. Best moderator.
YAAAAAAAAS 💃 THESE ROUNDTABLES MAKE ME SO HAPPY:')
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!!
that was the funniest roundtable this year. love them :)
10+ yrs later and The Cable Guy still rocks!
always great content🤘🌟🤘
I mean its hard not to make a Profit on a 5 million dollar movie budget thats why blumhouse movies are killing it.
hey gosh, I just love the camaraderie on this round table especially the fact that Amy Pascal has worked with every single person here being that she was the head of Sony pictures entertainment for a very long time
I still dont know how Jason Blum could still be making movies with that budget.. Im inspired by that mindset of keeping the cost low especially when we're starting out
I _love_ seeing Seth’s soul completely leave his body around the 24:24 mark… you can literally see him thinking, “Jesus, I wish I brought weed…”
Best roundtable
Jason Blum moving on up
Blum telling it like it is 👏
Finally, a round-table mix of male and female subjects. I never understood why the Actors/Actresses distinction exists in these roundtables.
It’s weird how producers seem to be more fluent and elegant than actors on the round table. Although I could listen to Michael Cain and Jeff bridges for hours
Very interesting about Jordan Peele not agreeing to include "The looking for keys" scene in the trailer, it was a great surprise in the film.
The look on the host cracks me up...he was lost at the get-go haha
"make movies with us!"
ridley lol
The host is amazing!
Jason Blum reminds me of Castiel from Supernatural
Man they all are sure having funnn.
These producers need to get together and make a movie about Judd Apatow unplugging from the Bill Cosby matrix he can't do ONE fucking interview without name dropping Cosby it's almost like a deflection technique at this point lol.
Didn't Amy Pascal say slightly racist shit about Obama back in the day? smh
Brandon Martin She rattled off a bunch of black movies that she assumed he liked.
So awkward when they were discussing Get Out. Amy had to try so hard to keep from joking "Ill bet Obama loved that movie."
Well she's not wrong
seth rogan is criminally underrated in the industry tbh. everyone sees him as this silly goofy guy that just makes comedies and smokes weed but he is incredibly emotionally intelligent and truthful and just straight up about things.
Came for Seth's laughing
What's funny is Franco asked Gus Van Sant the same thing about My Own Private Idaho and Gus let him.
A 4million $ movie Get Out, made 254million $$$ box office😱😱😱
Thank you for Matthew being the moderator. I will watch him.
I have second thoughts on Amy Pascal. I'm glad she's gotten her act together and is taking charge of new bold content!
It's interesting how all these films got different nominations, but only 3 are now nominated for Best Picture.
Seth Rogen next to Ridley Scott. lol
At 8:30 we get a shot of the host, either thinking to himself "Man I really got a conversation started here. I'm the man." or "Did I leave the iron on?" Hard to tell which.
That was great
I dont know who the actor is in "get out" in the straw quartet hat but his performance is so beautiful
Amy Pascal reminds me of Kathryn Hahn. Great interview!
I love Rogen. Just adore him as a creator/man!
Ridley Scott is so mad that Jason Blum can prove him wrong
Jonathan Masters true
I think he was more amazed. He was like WTF? How do you do that?
Somewhere around minute 6
Around 9:30
Jason Blum and Blumhouse make for the most part horror with a very tight crew, production and scope, Get Out takes place in one place primarily and that place is isolated, same goes for their other movies.
Ridley Scott have made big production movies since the 80's and he himself says in this video that none of his movies have passed a budget of a $106million(can say that Prometheus is reportedly $130million, though he says $100m in this video, possibly marketing added $30m), but the rest is around or under the $100million mark.
No one could make Alien Covenant for a low budget, given the amount of practical effects, locations and sets that Ridley Scott uses, same goes for Prometheus, The Martian, Gladiator etc... Big scale movies needs a high budget.
Also Blade Runner 2049, which he produced, it had a $150million budget and it was because of all the practical sets and practical effects had to be built for the film to match the scale and the feel of the original movie.
I like how Blum called Ridley out for blaming unions for his overinflated budgets. Ridley was so full of crap.
Get Out was a unicorn. The Black Phone just cost $16 Mil to make and that's with the director and Ethan Hawke agreeing to get paid on the back end. Jordan Poole's latest movie, Nope cost $70 million to make. You can't make Aliens, Blade Runner, Gladiator or The Martian for $5 mil.
What an incredibly informative episode. What I would give to meet these people.
The funniest roundtable from the series!
I was delighted and surprised to hear goofball Seth Rogen offer perfectly relevant-to-me insightful advice about changing your mindset to live in a competitive world.
You are deceiving yourself if you really think Seth is a goof ball. The guy is highly intelligent, articulate and creative.
@@birlove1471 And, like Jon Stewart, very serious about politics and ideas.
Jason Blum sounds like a great producer. Respect!
Maybe Ridley should start reading critical comments again...
“700 of them live in their moms basement” Judd Apatow then works with Pete Davison 😂😂😂
I didn't know Bob from Bob's burgers was the producer of the "The Big Sick"!🤔
Seths laugh though.lol
Jason Blum vaguely looks like an older Grant Gutsin (TVs The Flash)
He does!
I wish I would work with any of them!
Ridley is such a hypocrite if he doesn't listen to other people what the hell was Alien Convenant!!!!!
Well, it's a visually awesome, great acted, lovecraftian space thriller. His biggest mistake was to make all the "Alien" bonds. He should have known, that all the nerds would rather see the same thing for the fifth time than anything creative.
Roland Deschain He specifically stated before Prometheus that he didn't want to use the Alien because in his own words "it was cooked" yet he then listens to the fans and the movie studio by putting the Aliens extensively in Convenant perhaps it was a studio decision and he had his hands tied but I doubt it why go to all the trouble of making two different varieties. He did the one thing he said he disliked in this roundtable. I bet the other directors knew but they didn't have the balls to call him out on it.
Everybody in this room is a fucking hypocrite. The whole group is talking about how hard it is to make movies with big studios in front of Amy Pascal who ran Sony pictures into the ground from 2006 to 2016 and got fired for acting like a racist moron in her email correspondence. During that time, Sony pictures has been making dreadful, lowest common denominator garbage, it’s just gross the kind of films they turn out and the head of the ex head studio is sitting right there.
Blum vs Scott 2018
Are you reuploading these? I`ve seen this already but it says a week old.
LMAO Seth Rogens Laugh 19:45
19:36 thats funny hahahaha
With the sound bar on the side of the film is there a way of adjusting volume so that 'the' music can have greater impact via acceptable maestro/conductor? What it means to be human. . .the role modeling . . . expectations.
Can it be that 'the girls' knew to play him . . . like what happened with Matt Laurer?
They did it to George Michael also . . . and probably a lot more guys who end up sucking it up.
I would much rather see a movie in a theater than at home -- it is such a unique and special experience -- but I stopped going over 20 years ago when the experience changed from special to annoying due to a critical mass of the moviegoers behaving in the theater as they probably do at home.
That specialness was really impressed upon me when a theater in my town showed a double feature of two old movies: Shane and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. I had seen these two movies only on a TV screen and enjoyed them, but when I saw them in a theater, they were great again. I so miss the theater experience, but what was once a Movie Theater is now just the very large living room of a bunch of your most obnoxious neighbors.
Seth's laugh is everything
6:30 After just seeing FastX at my local theater, I was bummed out. The picture quality, and sound were less than what I have at home. We would have waited to watch it at home, but had free movie tickets. This experience reenforced my decision to wait to watch John wick on proper UHD Blu-ray. It would be nice to have to option to download a "non-compressed" version of the movie too. With how big games are, people would be willing to wait for a large download to complete for proper picture quality. RUclips compression is fine most of the time, but not for a "Cinema night."
Where can I buy the shirt Seth Rogen is wearing?
Seth Rogen's laughter is really funny!!! I like it
It really would have been a spoiler ( if not simply a dumb idea) to have the dangling keys scene in the trailer of Get Out.
If you want insiders knowledge than David heyman who produced Harry potter and Paddington as well as the new tarantino film will tell all as no one knows about him.
seths laugh is the best
Weird to see Judd and Seth just sitting their with each other
joe ryan they are friends you know 😂😂😂
.
the apprentice joins the mentor
Why dont they work anymore
*there
Wow. Amy Pascal and the only people they could find that don't despise her.
Findecanor what did she do?
When the Sony hack happened a few years ago, she was found saying racially insensitive things about Obama and got fired as a result (which is why she's now a producer). She also wasn't paying female stars equally as male stars in her films.
Tyler wow, why is she still getting jobs in Hollywood then? Gross.
Nobody wants to forgive anyone anymore. Everyone is so cynically judgemental. If we shunned everyone who's made racially insensitive comments, no one would talk to one another.
Erm she's still at Sony
you should do a roundtable on commercial acting! there's a large community of actors focused on that and it'd be dope to shed light on another faction of the industry. great vid nonetheless
The US American obsession with using the term England rather than Britain or the UK is somewhat disrespectful given that this completely overlooks the three other 'nations' of the Union; Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, but for the editors to write a caption in explaining that Churchill said "England will never surrender", is deeply disrespectful. Churchill said "we shall never surrender", clearly referring to the whole of the country of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, to use the actual name. If for political reasons someone wants to say Britain, rather than the UK, to respect the island of Ireland, then that's fine, but to talk as though England is Britain or the UK is disrespectful. I'm sure Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish soldiers fought just as hard as the English ones!
I'm just sitting here waiting for Amy Pascal to talk about Aloha.
At 8:30 we can see the moderator thinking 'I'd rather watch Batman vs Superman than moderate this lot'
...have to say it, why did Judd find it necessary to bridge the discussion from Harvey to Bill....There is absolutely no distinction between the despicable acts of the two, but....the question was about Harvey. Just a question, interested to see the answers. This is a wonderful round table by the way
