    Direct comparison of Turtle Rock Studio's upcoming cooperative zombie shooter "Back 4 Blood" and how it stacks up to their original breakaway hit "Left 4 Dead." Also includes mention of content exclusive to Left 4 Dead 2.
    Full breakdown of everything from the graphics, level designs, enemy types, weapons, and features - and what I'd like to see when the final game releases this October.
    Footage of Back 4 Blood was recorded during the initial Alpha Phase and therefore all features are subject to change by release.

    Thank you all for tuning in on this rare Monday video release. I've been wanting to cover this title for a while, as I've always been a big fan of the Left 4 Dead series, and I wish the best to the development team working on Back 4 Blood. I've decided to focus more on gameplay this time, only because the footage I captured was from an early alpha build of the game, but I'll most definitely be covering Back 4 Blood along with the Left 4 Dead series in more detail this fall season. Hope you enjoy the video - and stay tuned for my upcoming documentary at the end of this month! (It's a big one)

    Damn, you hit the nail on the head with L4D's map design. Never occurred to me how big and wide and maze-like-ish they are but that's exactly why they are so fun and unique. It gives room to explore, to fall back, to dodge, to change routes, to get lost, to get overrun from multiple angles.

    • @Nick930
      @Nick930  3 года назад +101

      Precisely. I'd like to expand on this in greater detail later this year as I feel it's the biggest mistake developers that attempt these 4 player coop games seem to keep making. Turtle rock in particular knows how to do it right. Hopefully they deliver with the other maps

    • @The_Viktor_Reznov

      @@Nick930 Yeah. Narrow paths just tend to be actually simply disguised corridors, differently colored but actually the same tracks, whether in buildings or outside, making you only worry about what's up front and not what's around you and your only choice being to push forward, not to think which route to take - left, right, front, up, around or over obstacles etc.

    I know you said that Back4Blood looks like "a great improvement", but honestly, L4D1 and 2 have some really great art design, which is careful with its shaders and post-processing, that makes it look more "real" than what I'm seeing here. I think the blood effects and shaders look more "hyper-real" and it just looks more generic because of it.

      I get what you're saying, but personally the unsaturated colors and flat color tones just made everything look bland. It's how most older games (xbox, xbox 360, ps2, ps3) looked. Compare it too the old Call of Duty's, Resident Evil 4, etc. Even the more colorful games were still flat such as GTA IV. I wouldn't say it was a design choice as much as it was following suit with other games' color palettes.

Thats what used to happen back in gamecube and Ps2 days and back then we had some of the greatest games of all time, simply due to people stepping their game up and wanting to prove next gen would be huge. nowadays it just aint like that and companies would rather rack in money from shitty half baked games

    The upgrade/purchasing system genuinely sounds awful. The reason why Left 4 Dead players are so good at their game is because of the limited tools they're given to combat every situation the game can throw at them. When you give the player the ability to have a build in a survival game like Left 4 Dead, it becomes less about teamwork and individual skill and more about optimization and stats/specs.
    I don't know why they went with this idea. It's also extremely immersion breaking, like, suddenly having menus in the middle of game time. I think this is a poor decision overall that only exists because it's what modern FPS's are doing.

      Yep and the movement speed when you ADS is just UGHHHH. So annoying I don’t want to be slowed down to a snails pace in a zombie game I want to MOVE WHILE I SHOOT like in the originals!!! How do they not get this.

    • @GustavoVS11
      @GustavoVS11 3 года назад +1

      @@Nick930 just like Hell LL & Post Scriptum, Enlisted is also a WWII game, whereas Beyond the Wire is set during WWI, although it uses the same core as PS & Squad, so it would be cool to compare all of them at the current state.
      Ground Branch & Zero Hour are tactical shooters, so it's a different genre. They could be compared to Rainbow Six. I'm sure these comparisons would get you tons of views :D

    • @JustSkram

      @@Nick930 enlisted is an...interesting game. It's 10-15 players but each player has an AI squad they can command/switch between like in bf2 on console (if you played that) and yes, the AI is pretty bad with no preservation of life. It is made by the guys behind war thunder and already have signs of p2w.

    Environments just looking weird man, hope they improve the gloominess and the occasional jump scare. I’ve realised a lot of gamers adding hit markers and having way too much on the hud it just takes away that immersive experience.

    I heard that for the Alpha of B4B they "cranked" things up high, which is why some parts of the beta felt unbalanced (aka the final level of the alpha chapter where there was constant horde spawns)

  • @silveralphacore7069

    The only reason why B4B that don't have on L4D is the following
    1. Very Good Plot
    2. Triggering obstacle
    3. Well- envelope environmental issues during z apocalypse
    4. Military are still active on the game
    5. Relaxing coil sound when you reload and right- clicking of it.

    I hate the idea of the cards and buying ammo, the reason l4d is better is coz it makes u think about ur ammo, health and best ways to deal with things.
    L4d ain't as limited as u make out, I can climb over stuff + there multiple routes.

    Honestly, I think people - including myself - have a totally irrational hate towards cards.
    I immediately lost all hope when you even just mentioned the word, but then, y'know...
    It really _is_ a lot like mutations. And honestly, I think the backlash would be infinitely smaller, if those cards were instead presented as a boring old list.
    I think cards carry an association that - like real life card games - it will be heavily monetised.
