@Charles Antonio thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.

You know what is moderately crazy and a glitch in the matrix is that right now I'm watching Jaws for Shark Week and it's right around that scene where he says that... And I typed in this specific video looking for it.
Alex deserves more subs. Nearly 400K is nothing to squawk at, but this man is the most thorough reviewer on RUclips. Is he the funniest? No. Is he the quirkiest and featuriest? No. Are his videos shot as sexily? No. But when you want a review that actually equips you with useful information, there's no better source.
The only reason I don’t subscribe is that I’m only interested in EV reviews. Maybe if he did a separate channel for EVs, or stopped reviewing gasoline powered cars.
@@cypvh74 You could always just ignore his gas car reviews. It's still helpful for those who might be interested in those cars. And who knows, maybe they'll see one of his EV reviews and decide that maybe an EV could work for them as well.
Thanks for bringing up availability. So many reviews forget to mention that. Pushing these out nationwide is a big advantage over the Kona’s and Niro’s of the EV world.
@@davidmccarthy6061 I was going to “import” a Niro from another state but my local dealer said they wouldn’t support it if I needed repairs. I leased a bolt instead. Not living in a carb state sucks at times.
Same with me. I was turned away from the Kia dealer asking for the full EV Kona. Only the PHEV Soul and Kona. Crazy here in the US because our governor talks about being pro Green but very few green cars available here.

My 2018 CT6 plug-in has 3 levels of regen and auto stop. But will creep at a stop light like a regular regular automatic. The auto stop is nice when stopped at a light or drive thru as the car stays stopped until you tap the throttle. The regen is controlled through the steering paddles.
You do realize that depressing the brake pedal doesn’t mean that pads contact rotors, right? I have tried the L function in my Bolt and I don’t like the smoothness of transitioning. I am way smoother in transitioning from accelerating to coasting to decelerating in D mode than L and still get the benefits of recharging during slowing and stopping.
I love how it looks and the range of practical features. It does look like you can raise the floor to an almost flat in the cargo area with the rear seats.
Hey Alex, love your EV episodes. I also do reviews but with a different style, which is good to see different viewpoints. One thing I wanted to correct you on is the DC Fast Charging. I was on a media call with GM folks and I asked one of the engineers the question of max charge rate. The official answer I was given was that the highest rate of pull with the new designed Bolt EV and EUV, both MY2022's, is 150 Amps. Since they are based on a 400v architecture, if you do the math, that equates to 60kW. So that is up +5kW from the 2021 and older versions. I also confirmed this during a few days I spent with my media car, a 2022 Bolt EV, and was able to see 59kW max from a hard regen (going fast and braking hard with one-pedal driving engaged). So the 55kW you state is a bit off. I know 5kW is not much, but it is better than no increase and an improvement over the previous years. I will be getting my hands on the EUV in a week for several days and will see if it too pulls this kind of DCFC. My opinion before and I don't see why not for these two newer models is similar to yours. Good reliable BEVs with decent long range and fast charging capabilities at a very value price point against what else is out there. I personally think GM has done well with these and love the refresh of the Bolt EV. Keep up the great work and with your subs, I can see this is a full time gig for you. For me, just part time to promote EV adoption.
This is the first Chevy, ever, that I think I would want to own. I come from a Ford family, and I am recently a big fanboy of Hyundai/Kia, but the Bolt looks like it would be a great option for me with my commute, and also serve as the family hauler for activities.
@@rashaddancer Not true. I have had Lincoln’s and am MUCH satisfied with my 2017 and now 2020 Bolts. Put 140,000 on the 2017 and now have since may 2020 34,000 plus on the 2020. I can tell anyone interested how to get over 300 miles range on them. I can also show you how to get a fire breathing absolutely silent ( except for road noise- not so much on asphalt-and sometimes pump noise) lightning bolt off the line to surprise well renowned sports cars.
@@daviddrake6875 you didn’t mention one thing that the Bolt is better at. Below ⬇️ I gave a whole detail description coming from a Ford to GM Chevrolet Bolt I’ll relist them again. Does not have a garage door opener? No Dual Climate control Manual vent cut off Manually open rear do No Build in gps Max speed at only 90mph.
Looks like Chevy is following separate light arrangements front and rear like Kona. It works on the front, but looks very odd seeing the main tail lights not lighting up when braking.
This is a great video! I love my 2020 Bolt, and will definitely consider this when my lease is up. Also, the rear cargo floor has an option for a false cargo floor cover. This allows a flat load floor when the seats are down.
As always, another great review. This looks like a winner for folks who need an EV with extra room around town. We have a Tesla Model 3 and a NIRO PHEV and love them both. I do wish my NIRO had one pedal driving as I like that setup, but the paddles on the back of the wheel are very good too as they allow you to opt for coasting when you are on the highway which is better than the deceleration always kicking in like the TESLA. This might replace my wife’s CRV soon!!!
The styling of the new Bolts is growing on me, but I still wish they kept the "lightning bolt" tail lamps. They were so distinctive, stylish, and perfect for the car!
Agree with others Alex gives some of the most relevant reviews in the business. With all these EUVs coming out I hope he does a meta review that highlights pros and cons for each once he gets some time in them. Anyone know when he will be releasing the full review of his Mach E with his scoring?
This is a major upgrade from the original Bolt. I sold my 2017 Bolt and bought the Ioniq in 2018 as it was / is a superior car at the time. I would like to test drive the EUV for myself as your video has shown promise in the car...
@@cauthoncrazy 135-150 in range. The Ioniq is much more efficient than any other EV and it really shows when driving. It is a dream to drive in traffic or the city. Longer range EV also mean Longer charge times and lower efficient miles per Kilowatt which the older Bolts were not real good at. The Ioniq will hit 70KW at a newer charge station and they regen at 60-70KW..
@@LazyDog191 Awesome! I have the "cousin" car, the 2016 Soul EV and love it. I get about 125 fully charged and good regen. Glad to hear the Ioniq is such good quality! I definitely agree that anything longer than 4 hrs from empty to full on Level 2 holds little appeal to me. They don't sell the Ioniq EV here in TX but hope to see it one day!
@@LazyDog191 I consistently get 4.5 to 5 miles per KW with both my 2015 and now 2020 Bolt. I have been told there is AI in the controller and it programs to my driving habits ( pedal down in Sport a lot) and charging habits ( regen down a 7 mile 8% to 10% grade and then a 4 mile 8% grade and then a 4 mile 8% grade down into Escondido). Now when I charge level 1 or level 2 I can charge to over 300 miles.
Good for GM for improving the Bolt. At first I was jealous of the palm trees and sunny sky until you got onto LA's concrete wasteland. "Park and Bark" :)
I just discovered Alex has a website (by the same name as the channel). This is going to make it so much easier to do side by side comparisons on all the little details only Alex seems to discuss.
Well done review. Not enough improvement over my 2017 Bolt to make me want to trade up. If it had 300 mile EPA range and a much faster charging profile then maybe.
@@dennislyon5412 way to get EPA range is drive at turtle speed with the HVAC off. Drive what I call normal and the range tops out 200. Winter around 130.
@@steamtorch - summer range - at less than freeway speeds - easily approaches the EPA number. If your daily drive is city miles at speeds up to 50 mph, you can push 300 miles. Granted, it does turn into the proverbial brick at freeway speeds, but 3.6 to 3.8 mi/kwh is pretty good for cross country travel.
@@steamtorch Not me. I drop down in speed watching the yellow bar on the right side of the driver’s display going up grades and speed up to limit going down. Use CC on any stretch longer than .4 mile. Always use paddle to slow down. Only use foot break for fast stops during rush hour traffic which I avoid taking alternate routes and streets. I consistently get 260 to 290. When I charge up on my mountain to 250 I get 300 to 330 miles at the bottom of my grade road.
Spot-on review, as usual. I can't wait for you to drive the Ioniq 5 and Ariya. I know they will both be bigger and more expensive, but I'm used to a CR-V. This car is just a little too thin for my frame. The EUV obviates the need for the Bolt EV. I wish Chevy would have used the extra six inches to stuff a bigger battery into the car to push the range over 300 miles. Once the new fed tax credits kick in, this car will sell much better than the competition based on lower price and automated driving options. GM can build world-class EV's, as I have personally experienced with my 2013 Volt.
The sunroof having a closable share honestly sells this for me because that is a luxury no amount of money can buy you in most EV's. While I'd prefer no sunroof at all, this is the best next step. I really hope glass roofs die off because they suck. I was in a friends model 3 and the glass roof on a sunny day gave me a headache since sunglasses dont work when the light is above you
Oops you made a mistake, you said that only the EUV has radar adaptive cruse control but this isn't correct. The regular Bolt does have it it just doesn't have super cruise.
Really ? my father have own a 2019 premier model and it's not working just like lane keep assist which goes from left to right . Sometime wheels are on the left road line , then go back to the middle and wheel are back to the right road line. The lane keep assist make me look like i'm totally drunk. Not working well at all.
@@christianboisclair1354 only the 2022 Bolt will have real adaptive cruse control with lane keeping. Alex's wording in the video made is sound like only the EUV would have it.
They should be ashamed of that peak charging rate. Alex please keep in mind the Bolt hits it first taper at 50-55% then charges at a rate of 36 kw until 67% and tapers again...
Great review. Test drove a 2021 premier last week, which they want 29,000. Pretty good deal, I’m aware of the basic differences now. Having an electrician check my garage for level 2 charger install. I live in Chicago, so those 2022 brake lights might invite unnecessary rear end friends!
I thought this looked quite good till the rear light arrangement, its not a deal breaker but it sure does look incredibly odd having the brake lights that far down... Surprised they didnt make it just the turn signal, like the last gen. Now it just looks like you have brake lights that dont work so its using the auxiliary lights like the Q7 does 😂
I have been considering the Ioniq 5 over the Nissan Aliya because of the worries over Nissan itself; however, the Boilt EUV while lacking in some aspects, looks really good, besides my history with Ford is not great and I can't forget or forgive that.
I'm 6'5" and wondered how I would fit in the Bolt EUV compared to the Bolt EV. I have to say, after a few test drives, I fit great and the driver's seat sees a huge improvement over the Bolt EV.
Dude. Longtime midwestern gearhead, and in October I got a wild hair up my ass and bought a used 17 Bolt with 29k for $18,000. I love it. It’s fast, whisper quiet, comfortable, and just effortless. Test drive one, and I bet you’ll buy it.
@@dennislyon5412 and a screaming deal. Ska-reamin’ Also of note: all but the most expensive EVs are drastically slower than the Bolt. The tesla is faster, but in a different price class. But all the rest are slower. It’s a niche that only the Bolt fills.
@@kipamore Drastically slower? Hardly. The Kia Nero EV, Hyundai Ioniq EV, and Hyundai Kona EV are about half a second slower, and the Soul EV maybe a little more than that. Those are not huge differences in real-world driving, and that's just looking at Hyundai/Kia. The Mustang Mach-E is much faster than the Bolt, but admittedly pricier. The European luxury brands no doubt have some models, too. The Bolt's performance is quite good, better than most ICE-drivem cars, but only about average for an EV.
@@markmiller3279 True, but the Bolt occupies a lonely space among other the EVs, as far as 0-60 per dollar spent. Though it may seem laughable, I chose the Bolt as a sort of Suburban Stealth Muscle Car. Because it’s silent, and because of the soccer mom plainness, it attracts zero attention on the road. And that means you can drive it like a complete asshole, which I do. I came out of a Fiat 500 Abarth, which made such a fuss zipping through traffic you ended up being afraid to floor it. In the Bolt, you can mat it all time, every time. It’s quite freeing. Anyway, many EVs are substantially faster, but substantially more expensive. The ones that are cheaper (Leaf) are substantially slower. Right now I’m on the stock eco tires, and both will break loose pretty much at will. When spring arrives, I’m leaning toward smaller diameter stickier tires, to get even more cowbell about of this turd.
Yet another great preview/review by the most informative car review specialist anywhere. Kudos to Alex, what I’m anxious for is a review of the VW ID.4, with tax credit it looks like the best looking EV with the most value. But I’m waiting for the Alex verdict, meanwhile my ID.4 AWD order is on the books.
I'm seriously shopping around with the new crop of small SUV EV's. The VW is slick looking and at a great price with the federal tax credit, but many have already complained that is very underpowered. I'm not an aggressive driver (I drive a Prius!), but I'm curious what the ID4 will cost with an upgraded engine. Plus that white steering wheel looks cool, but I can imagine that it will look disgusting within 6 months of driving. For that 40k MSRP, the VW will have lots of competition from the upcoming Ariya and for another 5k bump, the Ioniq 5. All will have the federal tax credit that's not available on the Bolt and Tesla 3/Y.
@@mls01981 my AWD ID.4 Pro S with the Gradient package is almost at 50K but the dual motor turns out an additional 100 HP and since I’ll be towing a motorcycle trailer I need the additional power and (hopefully) more range. There’s bound to be some initial quirks in the 1st edition so delivery in the fall is prudent. When Alex gives us his opinion then I’ll decide on staying with the VW or trying to find the RAV4 Prime. If all else fails I’ll go with the Model Y.
This vehicle is very enticing. And looks even better in video than in pictures. Glad you got the dark red one as that would probably be my first choice. The thing that kills it for me is the 55kWh charger. That slower charger adds significant time to a road trip compared to something like a Model Y.
I have a 2014 Chevy Spark EV... and lately I've been drooling over the first model years of the Bolt, which is about double the price of my current car. And now I see this. I wish I made more money lol I also never expected to be buying and drooling over Chevies, and for Chevy to make good EVs
I like what the Bolt EUV has to offer, and in my opinion the only thing it needs is a heat pump because I'm in Pennsylvania where we do get some winter. I would go for the Super Cruise option if I were to get one.
I really don't get this thing vs the regular Bolt. All you really get is 3 inches more rear leg room. Comparing the numbers you actually get less total passenger volume and slightly less cargo volume. Plus it's a heavier vehicle so the range and 0-60 aren't quite as good. I would never consider a GM car before but this has me interested and props to Chevy for dropping the price for the 2023 models.
I am totally against the turn signal being on the rear bumper. Turn signal needs to be at high enough so they can be seen without having to look down. You cannot see what a vehicle is doing when the turn signal are so low!
Alex, Your notes say "Think of the Bolt EUV as the Prius V of the small EV set." I have to say the Prius v managed to provide sufficient head room for rear passengers, as well as a sliding rear seat and much more useful cargo space. How did GM manage to get the ergonomics so badly wrong?
The culprit here appears to be the optional mega-sunroof with a shade that rolls up in the headliner over rear passengers' heads. Skip that, and I expect you'll get the same ample headroom as other Bolts to date.
Living in Canada, I'll take front wheel driver over rear wheel drive any day and I drove a RWD BMW in Ontario for 18 years. This is an ok move by GM here, IMO. Many EVs are coming out with RWD or AWD (at a premium.) The bigger issue I see with the Bolt is its price is getting close other appealing options at least at the MSRPs we see in Canada. I'm also concerned about GMs reliability, the older Bolts already have serious battery issues.
Chevy missed an opportunity with the Bolt EUV, it's too similar to the Bolt, just a little bigger with the same 200 hp front wheel drive. The EUV should have optional AWD with about 300 hp.
Heat pump is essential in New England. Kia provides it as part of a Winter package for about $1100. I would seriously consider either Bolt if that were available but not without it. A friend has a 2017 Bolt and his 20s F winter range drops to 130 miles in part due to electric heat loads. The Kia Niro has tested out at 180 miles in 20s F. That’s a huge difference for me as my business covers a large area.
You need to add a comment to GM and consumers on the brake lights low in the bumper. Most normal and especially high vehicles will be focused on the upper big lights and not see the small strip light in the bumper for brake lights. Mini Clubman had that same issue, lots of complaints, they now have them in the larger higher lights.
The Bolt is a very acceptable electric car. Good enough for the average driver that doesn't need or can afford a more expensive and powerful EV. 4 wheel drive adds weight and expense and most people do not need 4 wheel drive. For folks that regularly carry people in the back seat the longer model makes sense, but for a lot of commuters the standard model is fine. GM is to be commended for making an EV for the masses. Sure it ain't $20K, but it will save a lot in the long run over most ICE vehicles of the same size and features. Good quick review Alex. 👍
Since the bolt msrp is sooo much cheaper than the competition I think it is a good choice for an Uber driver. If you do 200 miles a day you will save up to $300 a week vs an equivalent ice vehicle. With gm giving you the in home level 2 charger I believe it to be a steal at the current price and the only choice in North America. If I had a choice, and could buy one, the BYD yuan (atto 3) would be my choice. All BYD’S have the safer blade battery. The LFP battery that can be charged from 0 to 100% every day. A 500,000 km warranty that the battery will not degrade below 50%. All BYD’S also have a heat pump.
If I was billionaire the Bolt/EUV would be the EV I'd buy a few of every year to give away to people. Of course I'd also be detailing/refurbishing old Priuses for resale, it'd be a strange hobby/not for profit operation.
@@janoycresnova9156 The Bolt isn't crap, it's a Chevy, that's a charm all it's own. A Tesla is much more likely to cause jealousy or contempt than a Bolt. EVs are a little too tied to Tesla, the Bolt demonstrates you don't have to drive a Tesla to drive a competent EV.
There’s a dealer in Tampa Fl that only deals in Priuses ... he’s a one man / two man operation so he knows everything about each car. What he has in it , what repairs have been done , and that’s because he’s the mechanic and owner. If I ever got into good money I’d invest in his business and have him train 2/3 more guys and open multiple locations.
Very much appreciate the visuals of an activated rear turn signal! Amber and brightness are almost must haves for me, and often I have to wait 'til I test a new model myself because few videos show rear blinkers. Your quick no-nonsense verbal pace is always great; however, in this particular review, the big difference in the new model is the U between the E and the V, and you practically blend it to almost indistinguishable verbally, as in "the regular Bolt and the Bolt EV." Confusing! It should be emphasized "Bolt ee-YOU-vee." Big loud "YOU" for emphasis. But otherwise an awesome review!
I'm wondering the same but have not seen any confirmation of this. From what I'm seeing, it does not appear that it's an option on the refreshed Bolt, either. :(
Watching more reviews of the Bolt EUV, I notice there appear to be 3 buttons on the bottom right of the mirror. On my 2019 Volt, my garage door opener/homelink is on the bottom of the mirror, just in the center. I wonder if the EUV actually does have this now that I've noticed that. Any other ideas what those 3 buttons may be at the bottom of the mirror otherwise?
Thanks for the info and all your thoughts on competitors. You make so many great points which lead to questions... particularly, will there be a tax incentive on this EUV? Depending on if there is a tax incentive, is this the best bank for your buck? Can a better, more expensive EV, be purchased for around the same price with a tax incentive? If there is no tax break on this EUV, overall, which EV with a tax incentive is the best deal for about the same price (34k)?
so the bolt is a commuter / city car not meant for long trips? its compact, easy to park in small places, and they threw in a "quick" charger in case of occasional road trips. when these first came out, i thought they were a joke. gm stepped up, dropped the price, and now i see a good market for them. hope im never stuck in line at a charging station behind one. not that its problem outside of the bay area yet, but i think it will be soon.
Best Bolt EUV review I've seen. Appreciate the more objective, rather than subjective nature of your review Alex. Keep up the solid, informative review, without the Puff & Fluff some substitute for Substance !
Great review as always, little unfortunate they didn't up the charging speed a little bit but as you said GM has been very cautious with battery life span. And I do think in the long term this may pay off for them when these cars are out there with 500,000 miles and still rolling on their original pack we may look back in thank GM for being that Forward thinking. That being said though unless you absolutely hated The styling on the older bolt and the interior, personally I think I would just find a used 17 to 20. Even in the previous generation Bolt the back seat leg room was quite generous for a small as the car was, it actually had the same leg room as a Kia Niro not as much with though. And since the cargo area really isn't any larger in the euv. It seems to me that unless you absolutely have to have super cruise and the ventilated seats and the other goodies that come with the euv you might as well save a few bucks and get the regular Bolt, or like I said I used one. There are still some amazing deals out there on current generation bolts
Since Chevy cant seem to figure out why they are having a hard time selling these things, I will provide a free critique. They are a 35K car that looks like a 15K car. Stop making them look a Chevy Sonic/Hand Vaccuum and people might actually buy them.
It's an improvement over the previous Bolt, but not by much. It looks Asian to me, and I don't like the big aluminum grill plate. It's a $15k car with a $15k battery, thus the MSRP.
@@cypvh74 Tesla Model 3 is actually cheaper, to be compared with Model 3, add super cruise to Bolt premium trim which totals about $40695, more expensive than Model 3 SR+ which has slightly more ranges at 260 miles than Bolt's 250 miles, Telsa has much better acceleration, much better charging network, not to mention the brand and resale value. Plus, many chevy dealers are adding markups for the Bolt EUV which is insane.
@@avanti2k $40695 includes the destination fee. Add the destination fee on the Tesla, and it’s $41,190 for the SR+. But one is sedan and the other is more of a crossover/hatchback with more cargo space and utility. But that’s only if you actually care about things like autopilot and super cruise, which I wouldn’t bother spending the money on.
Oh Boy. How are we misled . The features you highly praise are on the Premier version of this Volt which starts at 42,500 with adding in some nice things like DC charging and other things that Chevy will charge you extra!! I recommend somebody try to build the car that Alex was driving and it will for sure be over 45,000. It is like when Tesla tries to deceive you by including the price of gas savings over time in the purchase price of the car. Great review, Can’t blame you if you are mislead by Chevy too!
As so many others have said... WHAT was GM thinking putting the brake lights in the bumper?! Everything else about the new Bolt is really great. The brake/turn lights though is a huge safety concern though. If anything they should have made those bumper lights the parking lights and had the upper lights be full LED Turn/Brake. My only guess is because of the US laws stating tail lamps must be on a non-moving part of the body, which the regular Bolt does have the tail lights on a moving panel and GM was too cheap to use a different configuration on the EUV VS standard Bolt. Massively disappointing on an otherwise pretty well done vehicle in my opinion. I really wanted to upgrade to the EUV this fall, but now I'm wondering if I should wait because I'm sure GM will receive many complaints on the 2022 model and will correct this in a later year. :/ (Without updating it on the existing vehicles.) My bet is the standard Bolt will be phased out due to a lack of sales since the EUV is far more desirable. It's going to cannibalize the regular Bolt. Then they'll address this glaring safety defect once the standard Bolt is no longer in the picture.
Has GM solved the battery fire problems....it seems that they are not selling 2022 models right now. Is LG still providing battery packs for the 2022? Good video...I watch often
The Bolt may be available in every state, but there aren't a lot of them. GM simply trickles them out. Unless you're in CA, the chance of you getting all the options and color you want will be hard.
Nice informative review! I was debating between the Bolt euv and Tucson phev, both same price but Tucson with power trunk and better interior ; I’m not doing more than 50-60 km per day, what’s your advise? Unfortunately couldn’t test drive any of this cars due to current shortage, Thanks
Excellent review! We own a '20 Bolt. The EUV is a nice vehicle but a bit less appealing to me since viewing this video. Most would agree the new Bolts are better-looking with improved interiors but I am a "function over form" guy. There are certainly improvements in the '22s but some things don't makes sense. The current Bolt already has adequate legroom in the back. Cargo space behind back seats could have been increased. The sunroof is cool, but why is rear headroom reduced in the EUV? The seats do look more comfortable in the '22 and the interior doesn't scream Tupperware. I see no reason to move to the EUV, although it might draw more buyers than the Bolt EV. The seats were improved for '20 (more padding). At 6'3" and just south of 200 pounds I find them quite comfortable although if I were any broader of beam they'd be too narrow. The Bolt is a model of space efficiency. It feels spacious and airy inside despite its small size. My petite wife and I love the driving position. You sit up high compared to many small cars and the visibility is terrific. The ease of entry and exit is welcome as we age and lose mobility. With the rear seats down it carries plenty of cargo. It's fun to drive with great acceleration. For those unhappy about GM not moving to a heat pump for '22, I'll just say that during a recent subzero spell we were impressed with just how fast the heat came on after a long day in a frigid parking lot. It is fast and warms the cabin quickly, but does pinch your range somewhat. New '20 and '21 Bolts can now be had in the low $20's. You get the same battery (and range), motor, and transmission as in the '22 models. If I were considering a new Bolt, I wouldn't wait. The current Bolt is a bargain and prices will only go down as '22s hit the lots. Thanks again for a thoughtful review.
Does the bolt euv use a heat pump for winter heating or electric resistance heating? A heat pump will be a game changer maintains range in the winter, in my opinion.
I am all about the EV train, the exterior is actually not super bad, definitely better than the smaller versions, but the interior is just so Chevy, I really don’t understand how this company still exists lol

And I typed in this specific video looking for it.

That’s great.

Thanks for bringing up availability. So many reviews forget to mention that. Pushing these out nationwide is a big advantage over the Kona’s and Niro’s of the EV world.
Yes, I had really wanted the Kona EV but almost impossible to get it, even now, in my area.
Alex is the best reviewer on RUclips, hands down. Huge amount of info in a concise video. Well done.

Also the Equinox they PLAN on making at the bottom level trims are far more expensive than a Bolt and will have over 50 miles less range and weaker motor. FACTS. If you don't spend over 40 thousand dollars you will be screwed and road trips won't be an option. Front wheel drive will make your tires last 10,000 to 20,000 miles from now on. You can't tow any weight with front wheel drive without a front motor and transmission to counter weight it. Tires will not grip in dry conditions.... Just spin. I 100% use 1 pedal driving on my 2020 Bolt! Nearly never use the breaks. 😁
I have two Volts and a model 3. I never touch the brakes on the Tesla, only use brakes on the volts when stopped in traffic
My 2018 CT6 plug-in has 3 levels of regen and auto stop. But will creep at a stop light like a regular regular automatic. The auto stop is nice when stopped at a light or drive thru as the car stays stopped until you tap the throttle. The regen is controlled through the steering paddles.
Same here. 1 foot is just a better way to drive.
Same. I use my one pedal all the time, for both freeway and city driving. Only tap the brakes when I need that more sudden emergency stop
Alex is the best car reviewer on RUclips. Answered every question I had and I learned from his presentation. Thank you!
Comprehensive... exactly what I needed. He's the best reviewer bar none.
I love how it looks and the range of practical features. It does look like you can raise the floor to an almost flat in the cargo area with the rear seats.
Also, the glass roof can be SHUT with a cover.Nice
Chevy hit the nail on the head with this new design esthetic.
Be advise you’ll be disappointed coming from Ford
No Dual Climate control
Manual vent cut off
Manually open rear do
No Build in gps
Max speed at only 90mph.
Looks like Chevy is following separate light arrangements front and rear like Kona.
It works on the front, but looks very odd seeing the main tail lights not lighting up when braking.
If you want the upper lights to function as brake lights, there's $5000 upgrade charge for that.
This is a great video! I love my 2020 Bolt, and will definitely consider this when my lease is up. Also, the rear cargo floor has an option for a false cargo floor cover. This allows a flat load floor when the seats are down.
I like the graphics used to show info.. good job
I agree. I see it on other Bolts and I like it.
What kind of range are you seeing in your Ioniq EV?
Ok
8:04 Adaptive Cruise Control will be available in the 2022 Bolt EV; however, Super Cruise is unique to the Bolt EUV.
You’ve not approached 300 miles in your Bolt? I’d think the current 250-260 is easy, considering the new for 22 front ends.
The first gen Volt Tail lights are back!
Now it just looks like you have brake lights that dont work so its using the auxiliary lights like the Q7 does 😂
Me too. Front end lighting arrangement looks very sharp, and rear end looks good until seeing the brake lights lit up at very odd and low position.
The second gen mini clubman did the exact same thing....and those brake lights looked like an afterthought.
Brake lights should be at eye level e.g. Kia Soul, most Volvos. Hyundai and Kia models also have brake lights at bumper level
Agree... it's disgusting and unsafe to have it so far below normal site of view. Deal breaker!
It's irresponsible design to have the rear lights that low
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is my new dream car, but I will probably end up getting a bolt for the price.
I have been considering the Ioniq 5 over the Nissan Aliya because of the worries over Nissan itself; however, the Boilt EUV while lacking in some aspects, looks really good, besides my history with Ford is not great and I can't forget or forgive that.
why not a Y?
@@apagoogoo because they are 2-2.5x the price of a Bolt
I'm 6'5" and wondered how I would fit in the Bolt EUV compared to the Bolt EV. I have to say, after a few test drives, I fit great and the driver's seat sees a huge improvement over the Bolt EV.
Bolt EV seats were improved in 2022, 2LT has power driver seat
I'm just now starting to consider an EV for my next vehicle. Thankfully Alex is around to help in the decision process.
Dude. Longtime midwestern gearhead, and in October I got a wild hair up my ass and bought a used 17 Bolt with 29k for $18,000. I love it. It’s fast, whisper quiet, comfortable, and just effortless. Test drive one, and I bet you’ll buy it.
@@kipamore I second the motion. If you consider the seats acceptable, the 2017-20 Bolt is a pretty nice car.
@@dennislyon5412 and a screaming deal. Ska-reamin’
Also of note: all but the most expensive EVs are drastically slower than the Bolt.
For me price, range and quickness of recharging are priorities. I would think these three are priority for all EV buyers.
Sounds like a solid plan! At the 50k mark, you could also look into the Ioniq 5 -- a slick looking car!
Getting a strong Ironman vibe from the front fascia. Most importantly, Alex found they had improved front seat comfort.
Was waiting to hear how the seats are in this gen as well!
I wonder if seats are interchangeable with 2020?
This vehicle is very enticing. And looks even better in video than in pictures. Glad you got the dark red one as that would probably be my first choice. The thing that kills it for me is the 55kWh charger. That slower charger adds significant time to a road trip compared to something like a Model Y.
Compare to a similarly priced EV
Nicely done.
I have a 2014 Chevy Spark EV... and lately I've been drooling over the first model years of the Bolt, which is about double the price of my current car. And now I see this. I wish I made more money lol
I also never expected to be buying and drooling over Chevies, and for Chevy to make good EVs
Same. I bought my used Spark EV cash for $9k and I’m financing a used Bolt 17 for $24k. Wish I waited for this one.
Great first impression Alex.
I am totally against the turn signal being on the rear bumper. Turn signal needs to be at high enough so they can be seen without having to look down. You cannot see what a vehicle is doing when the turn signal are so low!
Take it easy! Your videos are well informative as usual!
They need to "fix" the taillight situation...
Alex. You were making me really tense. I couldn't figure out what. Then I changed the speed of this to .75. All was good.
Good review. Well balanced and unbiased.
Too bad it doesn’t have a heat pump. Resistance heating reduces the range by 30% in Canadian winters. Great review, Thanks Alex
Heat pumps don’t work efficiently in cold Canadian winters.
I looked at the Bolt 2 years ago and it was just so cheap on the inside, now it may be the front runner for my next car.
Why would you buy this crap? Buy Teslas instead.
The rear seats will be flush with the false floor option for the trunk. The false floor is great for stowing a level 2 charge cable when traveling.
This car is pretty cool. I’d say it’s nuts- but I digress.
Alex, my 2020 Kia Niro has a 3 step regenerative braking paddles + and - I really like using the paddles as I come up to a stoplight or stop sign.
Looks wayyyyy better than the last model
I will wait for the next size up and all wheel drive.
Like the model. Better range, better interior, lower price. Good for you G.M.
If Buick were to have an Encore EV but they went with GX. Looks good tho.
The Chevy Bolt EUV is a reworked Buick Velite 7 from China.
@@Nebula1701 I knew it!
Does the Bolt EUV or EV have a HomeLink garage opener? Probably the biggest feature omission in my 2020 Bolt EV Premier
Great info filled test. You are the most inteligent of car testers.
Would be great to have a video about all the EVs and PHEVs on sale in US for 2021. There are so many of them I lost my focus.
Have you looked in your driveway?
Super Cruise will require a subscription after 3 years. Do you know WHAT the monthly cost will be for a Super Cruise Subscription ?
I am glad Alex avoided talking about the GM Bolt fire issues 🔥
@@johnnyViDeO please link to a $15k with as much interior space, horsepower, torque, as quick 0-60 times, and standard equipment as the Bolt.
...they have sold more EVs than any other legacy automaker...
Nice! I like the look of this car. It looks better than the standard leaf and is a great price. I would consider buying one
Has GM solved the battery fire problems....it seems that they are not selling 2022 models right now. Is LG still providing battery packs for the 2022? Good video...I watch often
Great review Alex yet again! Thanks for sharing
i own a 2019 bolt and no way am i going back to a gas powered car. but that new euv looks nice. sunroof is the one thing i miss having
The Bolt may be available in every state, but there aren't a lot of them. GM simply trickles them out. Unless you're in CA, the chance of you getting all the options and color you want will be hard.
Now Chevy has my attention! This new one is better looking, not plumpy
Great vid. Nailed it. Whichever manufacture builds a full featured electric car for $30k wins. Bolt is closest to that mark.
Nice informative review! I was debating between the Bolt euv and Tucson phev, both same price but Tucson with power trunk and better interior ; I’m not doing more than 50-60 km per day, what’s your advise? Unfortunately couldn’t test drive any of this cars due to current shortage,
Thanks
The placement of the brake lights is going to confuse the cars behind the bolt. Should of done the brake lights like they did in the gen1.
So Alex….where is this promised “updated review”?
You mention the EUV cabin being controlling wind noise better than the previous model. Did you find it quieter than the 2022 EV?
I am all about the EV train, the exterior is actually not super bad, definitely better than the smaller versions, but the interior is just so Chevy, I really don’t understand how this company still exists lol
The signals and brake lights should be in the upper lights.
The Rear-View Mirror can be ordered with a Rearview Camera Mirror.
Another awesome review Alex
