      A big red flag for us with the 2022 Bolt EV & EUV is the poor design of the back lighting system. The big lights up at eye level are merely running lights, which draws drivers' eyes to them and away from the functioning critical alert lights. The backup light is small & at the very bottom of the bumper! People pull up way too close and won't be able see it way down there! The brake lights are down in the bumper, as well. Are the turn signals & hazard flashers down below eye level, too!?! Those safety hazards are a deal breaker for us.

    Will be upgrading to the EUV from my 2017 Bolt...the ride is improved; less pitch and bounce. The seats are much improved w/leather. EUV looks better IMHO than the regular model, but neither has done a good job of the rear lighting.

      Please when you have time post a review of your new car. I have a 2018 Chevy Volt Premier with both driver packages and I am still in love with it. My big fear of going all-electric would be the range anxiety. Right now running around town I ride strictly on electric. The Longest trip I did was 135 miles round trip and I used the gas generator only both ways saving my electric charged miles and I had to really squeeze 2 gallons into the tank.

    I owned the original Prius when it first came out. And I still owe my 2012 Volt which has been a great car. The Bolt EUV looks like it has a lot of nice features for a decent price. But the biggest thing keeping me away is the lack of the 7500 federal tax rebate. The Ford F150 lightning has a pretty good price point once you factor in that rebate. Seems like a superior vehicle if the price it’s just within a few thousand dollars. Better range on the truck as well. I would appreciate any comparison comments you might have. The Kia EV6 also looks really nice for $45,000. More range and I think faster charging as well. Any thoughts on that comparison?

      Not for 2023, they will still be producing the Bolt for that year. We will see after that. They have made comments about having a small-than-equinox EV so that may stay as the Bolt or they may use one of their existing nameplates for that. Also the Equinox is noticeably larger than the EUV so I doubt it’s a 1-to-1 replacement ever.

    I have a 2018 VOLT Premier. I average 53 - 58 EV miles before my Gas Engine Generator comes on. My biggest fear of buying a BOLT EVU is range ANXIETY. To find a charging station while en route that won’t take more than 40 - 60 minutes so we can continue our trip.. Love the car but I am afraid I would use it just around town or somewhere that would allow me to get to point B and return on one full charge. What say you ?

    • @herbyoung2767
      @herbyoung2767 2 года назад

      That’s like saying you drive a gas car until you have no gas less and you’re worried about finding a gas station. Charge the car like you charge your phone. When it gets low, recharge it. If you don’t have a place to charge it every night, like you do your phone, don’t buy one.

    • @ocalakid55
      @ocalakid55 2 года назад

      @@herbyoung2767 No I drive ( Chevy Volt Premier ) an Electric Car that charges in 4 hours or less on my 240v J1772 car charger. A full charge would be 55- 58 electric miles. After that, the ONBOARD Gas engine is a GENERATOR and feeds the drive batteries power. with a combined range of 438 miles. Unlike the BOLT where you have to search for a charging station if you can't make it home to charge up, I have no Range Anxiety. When the BOLT has proven itself, then and only then will I switch to all-electric.

      @@ocalakid55 there are so many DC charging stations that you can get up to 80% in 30-40 min, on a longer road strip - which is a reasonable time to take a break for bathroom or lunch...make a few calls. plus, if you have a home charger, i think you don't have much to worry about. That plus chargers out in the world - including level 2 - are plenty if you plug in on a regular basis. A friend shifted my thinking around the bolt when he described that he regularly has his car "sipping" from charging stations while he is out around town - running errands, working at a cafe, etc. It was a little learning curve to plan around where has stations that are reliable, but a fun learning at that. And this is from someone who has NO home charger apart from level 1. I know people love their VOLT so i imagine why change it if it ain't broke! Esp since getting a new car is not really doing a favor to the environment. I am a fan on re-using...ie. buying Used vehicles. In 2-5 years there will be a lot of used EV's on the market for reasonably less money than MSRP. All the best, Bill.

    • @ocalakid55
      @ocalakid55 2 года назад

      @@passioncoaching I know that all the apps I have are good to try and locate a charger but I believe it all comes down to SIGNAGE. You're driving along on an Interstate / Highway / Tollway and you see several signs pointing out at the next EXIT there is FOOD-LODGING-GAS. but what there needs to be is a sign that says DC fast charging this exit.
      I took a drive in my new 2022 Bolt Premier from Ocala to Tampa. We were fine with a 100% charge leaving home. When we arrived we were in a good deal more traffic than expected and so once we started for home we had made plans to stop en route home to top off at an Electrify American located in a Walmart parking lot. We saw a sign stating traffic back up on I-75 Northbound. Somehow a truck had blocked our exit and so we continued northbound. Now with less than 61 miles left in the battery and 59 miles to go, we decided to get out of the traffic and took a detour praying I could at least get to the Chevy Dealership to get a small charge off their 240v Level two. Surprise - They were closed. Now with 39 miles left in the battery and 36 miles to home we decided to chance it. We made it home to the garage with 1 mile left flashing orange on the dash. We have decided that for longer trips until there are more chargers along the highways and SIGNAGE we will take our 2020 Honda Ridgeline on those longer trips and save the BOLT for just around town. I have written to all the major Charging companies suggesting they put signage on those boards along the highways stating the next exit for DC charging.
      TODAY we did take a SUNDAY Trip to the closes DC charging station and for the very first time, I used a DC charging station ( Electrify America ). I plugged in first but wasn't sure how the APP on my apple phone worked. I ended up using my credit card. 46 cents per kilowatt. 80% in 33 minutes. Total $7.31 with tax 58 - charge $7.89. -- Cheaper to charge at home with lower rates at night. If anyone can tell me how you are supposed to use the app downloaded on the phone please explain.

      It’s just a tired argument.

      @@skepticalmechanic The Bolt is a much better vehicle all-around. They're worth their retail price for what you're getting IMO. The ID4's infotainment performance alone, along with many other things moved that one out of the running quickly for me. The Kona is just meh as well.

      @@BachmanAutoGroupLouisville to date there are statements to not charge overnight, charge outside and there is someone who is out 22k because he didn't sue GM when his bolt burned down. There is a joke on Reddit that they should have named the car the inferno. Plug and pray takes on a whole new meaning. So leaving 60000 owners with a potential fire hazard is really reputation damaging even if the issue is fixed. The software fix didn't work. That's a failed result.

      @@ChicagoBob123 GM's replacing the affected Bolt's battery modules. This is not something that can happen overnight, it takes a lot of coordination and supply to pull something of that scale off. It also didn't affect just the Bolt, but the Hyundai Kona EV as well. It just became known sooner with the Kona than the Bolt. If you were at the helm of GM, how would YOU have handled this after it became apparent there was a manufacturing defect in some batteries produced by LG Chem? Keep in mind there are global shortages for just about everything from the pandemic when considering your solution GM should have implemented. ;-)

      @@dane9193 that's fantastic news as long as they have actual follow through. There is the guy whose bolt burned down from bad battery which they said voided his warranty so he's paying 12k for a car that's junked. 🤔 GM.
