The two gods are Japanese, but also hold significance in Chinese folklore, so it still makes sense within Wind Man's Chinese inspiration. - Stakes, basically wooden spikes, are one of the primary tools for killing vampires. Shade Man being weak to Wild Coil, which has spikes on both ends, makes a lot of sense for that reason. - While not nearly as important, Clown Man's weakness to a Tengu Man weapon is a similar case to Magic Man. Tengu Man's weapons are effective against entertainers, who use various tricks, magical or otherwise, which, like you said yourself, doesn't impress a tengu. Also, some of the worst deaths of circus performers were caused by strong winds, so take that as you will. - Vehicles are generally prone to sustaining damage in winter weather, or just being a pain to defrost. A motorcycle would be far more vulnerable than a car, making it even riskier. I wish I could find a more scientific reason for Dynamo Man's weakness to Copy Vision than just his personality being at play. I also found it weird you didn't count Block Man as a Light Number, since he says Light "built him rock-solid", which is as direct as it gets. Also damn, didn't expect to get a shoutout at the end there lmao Edit: Crash Man's weakness to Air Shooter could be a reference to World War II's second bombing of Japan. The original target for the second nuke was Kyoto, but the cloudy, windy weather over the city was too strong and held on for too long, so Americans switched targets to Nagasaki. To this day, Kyoto's symbollic significance is very important to modern Japanese culture as a safe haven, protected by divine strength.
Man, why didn't you collaborate as well lol I think I got few of those info from you already but forgot to script.. Although, gotta say, I didn't put some ideas there, like I wanted to add the "Saturn being lazy so a good shock to him would be a good motivation" for instance. But I thought some points like the one I explained for Saturn could do the trick to get the point better, but I really didn't some of these lol Good notes as always dude Also get pinned idiot
16:22 Another reason why Grenade Man could be weak to Thunder Claw is that electricity can sometimes be used to dispose of an inactive grenade by overloading them to pre-detonate.(Of course, with safety measures.)
While Sword man being weak to Water Balloon can be explained via him being the fire boss. It is also worth noting the process of quenching: When black smiths dip hot metal into cold water to rapidly cool it. If done improperly with something like say... A sword fresh from the fire, the rapid cooling will cause the metal to bend and warp. Sword man uses an ancient sword Wily stole from a museum so I could see him getting upset that his flaming sword gets bent out of shape
Just pointing this out here for my boy hornet man but i think that the fire weakness is moreso related to the fact that the bees will usually leave their hive if it is on fire, or if they can sense it from stuff like smoke, which is a common way to collect honey without harm.
The rivalry between Mercury and Pluto might also be a funny nod to how Pluto USED to be the smallest planet in our solar system m, but then they were reclassified as a Dwarf Planet, and thus, Mercury STOLE the spot as the smallest planet.
some of the robotmaster's weapon weaknesses are more gameplay based than mechanically, like how spark plug beats tornado man because it travels along the roof and floor which are the 2 places tornado man hangs out for most of the fight. or how air shooter beats crash man because crashman jumps when you shoot and air shooter fires up
While I am pretty sure how the weapons themselves function does make an impact on their weaknesses, I do also think that when they plan on what the next bosses are going to be, they do scheme their relations, then pinpoint their weaknesses with how those weapons can make the fights easier. But guess you could say there are lore instances they made up for the sake of making the fights easier, like how Gemini Laser is good against Needle Man for his trypanphobia
A possible reason for Shadow Man being weak to Top Spin might also be related to Japanese history. Ninjas are mostly famous from periods of war, especially the Sengoku era, and in the Edo period following the Sengoku era as it was a relatively peaceful time there was a large boom of many traditional Japanese toys, the original Japanese-style tops being one of them. Retro toys like tops also are heavily associated with the Meiji era as well as within the 20th century the time periods after both World Wars, which beyond just being "war is over, now toys are more commercially viable" were all massive periods of Westernization.
Some possible simplier explanations -Hornet Man is nature themed, fire burns grass -Terra is earth, Deep Digger could represent an Asteroid hitting Earth -Ring being weak to Pharoah could be a reference to the Pharoahs curse -Fire melts ice, ice turns to water, water puts out fire... -Slash being weak to Freeze Cracker could be a reference to the Ice Age -Greneade being weak to Thunder Beam could be more elemental as electricity is hot, bomb gets lit early akin to Fire and Bomb from MM1, same applies to Search and Sword, Search is nature, Sword is fire -MMB original robot masters are like the OG MM1 robot masters so the same reasons could apply (especially towards Cold and Dynamo and Pirate and Burner) I do love some of these explanations, especially for the MM6 and 5 ones
You know what, the pharaoh's curse one for ring man I wanted to really add, but I felt like it would be pointless even if I wanted to joke about it in a way lol
For Astro Man, the logic I always used is that we use advanced technology like radars, telescopes, rockets, and drones to scope out space. A homing rocket would be able to track Astro Man similar to how we track planets.
I always imagined the idea of Ring Man being weak to pharaoh shot as trying to get a ball into a hole As for Jupiter's weapon being effective against Saturn might be a reference to roman mythology where Saturn is defeated by Jupiter who is the god of lightning
I always think that crystal eye is weaknesses of napalm man because when napalm bomb hits it it shatter, reflect and hit the back of napalm man, and because it's slow tank it can't dodge it
Next we need to figure out why Ryu is weak to his own Hadoukens being reflected at him with Urien’s Aegis Reflector, or why C. Viper is weak to Chun Li’s Lightning Kicks, yep Street Fighter X Megaman deserves some love too.
Someone pointed out that Galaxy Man being weak to concrete shot is a star wars joke, with the whole carbonite thing. Though your logic is sound as well.
7:58 I might be being stupid, but this weakness could also be because some construction materials are made with or can be used as anti-acids, thus being able to neutralize acids. 11:49 Another explanation could be that historic artifacts are sensitive to water, that's why Sword Man (pronounced "Swords Man") is sometimes stunted when attacked with Water Balloon.
Another reason for Pharaoh Man to be weak to flash stopper is because flash photographies can accelerate deterioration of anything exposed in museums. I am not sure if it entirely applies to anything egyptian but they do appear in museums too.
6:53 Another reason could be Diamonds are considered to be one if not the strongest material in the universe. So therefore a blackhole out of the selection of weapons you get is the best contender that compresses diamonds into an infenitesimal point.
20:00 IDK If croby is reading this but it been stated that Skull Barrier is an electromagnetic based weapon. So it would be strong against a water boss.
It was indeed super entertaining to watch, as you said the video was to make. This made me eager to point out some/many additional thoughts (like other people did) - Many weapons look effective because they catch airborne bosses. For example, plug ball runs through the ceiling and catches Tornado Man by surprise whe he is flying close to it. Bubble bomb hits Jupiter when he is gliding, same for wild coil hitting Shade Man (and final Wily Machine in MM7 too, its only weakness). I could stretch this to commando bomb's shock wave getting exactly in the point where Blade Man clings to the ceiling (not airborne, but still above Megaman). - Wheel cutter beating Commando man could be another case of clogging the bosses' cannon missiles. - Dust crusher works like a fragment granade, whose scraps pierce skin and hit bones... which a skeleton would definitely be more susceptible. - A little stretch here, but I've always seen skull barrier as a kind of computer virus... something one woundn't want to happen to the controls of a submarine or any military equipment. - Fake Man, as a corrupt cop, can be bribed with money (jewels). Also, jewel satellite reflects his gun shots. Not sure, but I believe his reflected shots can even hit him back, a la Grenade Man fashion. - Tengu Blade can trully be all the things you said in the video, but also a simpler one: it CUTS a deck of cards (as in spliting the deck into two packets before the cards are dealt in a game). - Similar to how some weaknesses are due to the weapon being easier to hit the boss, I think this is the case too of copy vision vs Dynamo Man: one megaman cannot destroy its recovery device in time, but two "megamen" attacking from both sides can. - About all electric weapons hitting Ice Robot Masters, an additional explanation is that cold or cooled objects, specially mettallic ones, can become hyper-conductors. - Jupiter's weapon beating Saturn may have to do with the fact that, in greek mythology, Zeus (which is Jupiter) defeated Chronos (which is Saturn). - Finally, I find it cool you speaking egyptian arabic (I don't speak arabic not a little bit, but I trusted the subtitles, hahahah). One thought, however: long ago during the pharaoh times, I think they spoke ancient egyptian, not arabic. Nevertheless it is arabic nowadays, so it counts. Plus, it is nice to have a robot master so interconnected to a famous site of a country. I gotta praise you for showing me the reason for the weakness of Granade Man. I did got the ideia of thunder claw returning the bombs back to him, but the ideia of the claw activating the grenade while it is in the user's hand (in this case, the grenade is the whole Granade man himself) works just like a cartoon -- also thematic with a gimmick made from a hand obtained from a clown robot master performing a funny act. And from about 20 years I just accepted junk shield beating Freeze Man without understanding it. The logic, now I see, have always been a very easy one: steel beats ice. It is even a standard weakness of ice-type pokemon in the pokemon games.
You know, I have tried to research those mythos, but I have got lost and went nowhere, but it's nice to know they actually have relations to that kind in the end
@ Yeah mostly all of the Stardroids are based on Mythology specifically Roman, (the Roman’s stole everything from Greek Mythology)For example:Mars=Ares god of War (None of the other Stardroids have this weakness logic though)
Crash Man's weakness make sense since his stage is on a very high place. Launching him out of that pipe tower is a good idea to beat him using the Air Shooter. -"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" Crash Man falling hard into the ground
I always figured Ice man being weak to Elec man’s weapon is because Ice man is a walking superconductor and would naturally short circuit more easily. The fact that his main weapon involves Nitrogen strengthens the connection.
Thank you! Someone got Homing Sniper on Astro correctly. He's timid and shy. So something like locking onto will make him more terrified. Also, I always thought bombs can get disrupted by electricity hence why Grenade Man is weak to it. Also Also, he's a masochist with not only love self harm, but he likes blowing stuff up. So you're helping his case even more when throwing his own weapon at him where he not only doesn't even mind feeling it, but also doesn't blowing himself up too. Hence "THAT FELT GOOD!" Death quote.
I heard Tengu man being weak to Spread drill might be a reference to the folklore story "Tengu and the Woodcutter". Basically a Tengu bothers woodcutter by showing of it supernatural abilites by guessing everything the woodcutter is thinking, then when the woodcutter chops a piece of wood a splinter hits the Tengu in the nose causing it to flee stating that humans do things without thinking. There are probably other weaknesses that are lost in translation too.
7:16 for hornet man and why he's weak to magma bazooka is because beekeepers use smoke to calm bees during hive inspections, and what does magma create...smoke.
GutsMan (Construction) < BombMan's weapon (Demolition) I'd say Splash Woman's weakness to Hornet Chaser is more of a robot activity weakness. Splash Woman is very agile, and like Quickman, having a weapon that bypasses their mobility is the efficient one. I'd go the same with why Gemini Man is weak to Search Snake, as the weapon is a tracker-type weapon, capable of seeing through duplicates. There's an elemental circle going on regarding ice. Most of the time, ice robots are weak to electricity and rarely fire (Except for Blizzardman who's snow and weak to fire, as well as Freeze Man for some reason) and most fire robots are weak to ice (Or water if they have it or both games have ice and water) and rarely something else, like the case of Flame Man. This elemental triangle gets played with in other series, like Fire-Aqua-Elec-Wood in Battle Network, and Fire > Ice > Electric > Fire in the Zero / ZX series. Also Acid Man is literally made of glass parts and guess what bricks are strong against. Metal Blades can cut through a diver's air tank and oxygen tubes. "Missiles can destroy a drill" Is that all missiles can destroy? "Tengu Man is weak to Ice Wave because it grounds him" Is that the same reason he's weak to 'Ground' Man's weapon? Look ma, I'm funny on the internets again. Honestly though, in CrashMan and Jupiter's case they might be weak to airborne weapons because 1: Crash Man is a ground-based robot that leaps to expose himself and 2: Jupiter uses aerial combat for safety, which again, the bombs bypass. My hypothesis behind Top Spin is that Ninjas are shown to be exposed when their cover is blown, hinting at wind being used in this case. This also happens in the anime, where Shadowman makes clones of himself and he is exposed through a wind machine. No idea about the other ones.
Another one for Bright Man is that since his bulb is solar powered, a huge rain cloud would block off sunlight which would cause him to power down. Also cause massive rainstorms can cause an outage. Also ya forgot Magnet being weak to Shadow Blade.
To add with Tomahawk man’s weakness, Tomahawk Man is a robot designed for battle, so flowers, a symbol of peace being his weakness works. It’s also what I personally believe is why he’s weak to plant barrier.
I read someone's theory of Guts Man's weakness to Time Slow is... quite grim. Saw that theory in a Mega Man 1 stream, which I forgot where. They say that Guts Man can be compared to the slave labor workers in some dark times. And if the slave laborers "wastes time", they get executed. Thus slowing time "hurts" Guts Man's work. Reminiscent of the unfortunate slaves who didn't completed their tasks in time.
a side note for Rockman & Forte version for Astro Man, his card description says he hates magic, probably because it's either random or there's no logic with it unlike science
Thank you for the explanations. They were very entertaining and interesting to hear. The way I thought Crystal Eye was Napalm Man's weakness was that crystals are represented in forms of spiritualism and peace and similar to how Plant Barrier was Tomahawk Man's weakness, it was a matter of peace over war. I know Search Snake doesn't actually "search," but i thought for Gemini Man, the Search Snake would "theoretically" go for the actual Gemini Man. It's also how the Search Snake is a good weapon against the Mega Man clones. Another way to think of why Shade Man is weak to Spring Man's weapon is that Shade Man shoots off sound waves, which bounce back in the form of echolocation which bats use. Springs and coils can also bounce back waves through reverberation and compression, so the springs could disrupt the vibration and could mess with Shade Man's echolocation. Thank you for the content: 👏 👏 👏
I have a theory for galaxy man that could serve as another reasonable weakness explanation: a black hole would always expand upon absorbing mass, and light obviously doesn't want to leave a bunch of ever expanding black holes to be left everywhere, so he found a way to have the black hole bomb collapse on itself after either enough time has passed, or enough mass has been absorbed. So what if whenever mega man shoots a concrete shot at the black hole, it's enough mass to collapse it without much trouble.
If you think of it, someone who primarily lives underwater but then stumbles upon an unfamiliar creature that of the land/sky can look dangerously alien to them
I always thought the logic was that both Splash Woman and Hornet Man have summons minions have attacks so you beat Splash Woman’s fish summoning by summoning Hornets.
Also, if you pierce a toad or a frog with something sharp, that toad or frog will die. And a common strategy for amphibian predators is to evolve piercing fangs or beaks (common with crows, storks, cranes, snakes, crocodiles, and tarantulas).
Also, flashing and intense lights can damage ancient artifacts (including mummies), which is why Pharaoh Man is weak to light. And centaurs are half horse. If you pierce a horse’s hoof, that horse will be crippled and suffer from pain (and unfortunately, that means you have to shoot or slaughter that horse).
NGL, pretty good video overall. Many of Mega Man weaknesses actually make sense (whether for lore or logical reasons), but there are some that I feel were done for an ironic sake.
@Crobert24 In retrospect, ironic is not the right term, moreso coincidental or something. I guess Dive Man's weakness to Skull Man could also symbolize death as a sinking submarine is practically a guaranteed death sentence.
And some are based on mechanics, like the trajectory of the projectile vs. the movement patterns of the boss fight. A lot of the ones based on a fear the character has in his personality were logic added after the fact, with the weakness already existing - or the weakness itself being the reason for the fear.
Croby, I wonder if you make a video of which of these megaman weapons are weaknesses for disney villains. For example, Jafar's Weakness would be Swordman's Flame Sword because he was damaged by Aladdin who used a sword on him in his giant cobra form in the final battle. Also in the 2nd movie, his lamp is destroyed because Iago pushed it into magma.
I'll copypaste these comments of these speculations because why not. [Time Slow > Guts Man] He's naturally already slow enough; it's poetic to make him slower even more to hinder his job + movement. [Quick Boomerang & Metal Blade > Metal Man] This is also poetic since both weapons are considered as metal, which is pretty effective towards his body that isn't his weapon. [Crash Bomb > Flash Man and Quick Man] A bit of a stretch but the poetic part for me is "well-timed vs stopping time vs speeding time" which CBs are for. [Gemini Laser > Needle Man] Metaphorically, it plays with the "penetration vs reflection" part of the weakness. [Top Spin > Shadow Man] Furthermore, ninjas have a great sense of discipline and knows other people's moves. If you manage to do something pretty erratic like let's say guessing 50/50 in combat by doing a tatsu (or that spinny kick made by Ryu) throws them off. [Rain Flush > Bright Man] Acid rains tend to corrode a lot of metal and glass casings + rain in general dims the surroundings more. [Flash Stopper > Pharaoh Man] I think this is wildly explained already that no flash photography on artifacts or you'll end up degrading them more. [Ring Boomerang > Dust Man] Usually roombas and vacuum cleaners don't respond well to any metallic objects getting sucked at it. (Part 2 in replies)
I always thought the reason Commando Man was weak to Wheel Cutter was because he’s a tank and is generally a more slow heavy hitter while Nitro Man is fast. A bike is faster than a tank so it’s a measure of speed and machinery.
Megaman's weaknesses patterns All fire based bosses are weak to ice, water or wind weapons All ice based bosses are weak to electrical, bomb or fire weapons By trying to prove this i realized that it also applies to Megaman X bosses
Sorry if comments from me are annoying but I keep getting ideas. Mega man 3 is usually regarded to be a quickly released unfinished beta, but there are some neat things about it. Many of the bosses have a secondary weakness to their own weapon, intentional or not. Needle: As you said in the video, Needle man himself has a phobia of needles and being Pierced. Magnet: Magnets can disrupt, repel, or attract to each other based on a variety of factors. Gemini: a laser could probably disrupt Gemini man's own illusions? Idk this one's a stretch. Hard man: Two hard objects crashing into each other with enough force might break each other. Top Man: "Beyblade beyblade let it rip-" Snake: Big snakes hunt smaller snakes in the wild all the time. Though ironically you're using smaller snakes on a bigger snake. Spark man: Spark plugs or other electrical parts can be overloaded and fried. Spark man can store a large amount of power than elec man, so he might be more prone to overloading if he's on a full charge. Shadow man: Ninjas can take each other out and hunt each other down. Also imo, while not canon, I feel Hard man and Needle man could share their weaknesses to Gemini laser and Magnet missile for an even weakness chain. (Needles like sewing needles being highly magnetic and Lasers piercing through thick armor)
I liked the Arabic bits also you forgot to mention that Blockman was weak to Pile Driver in the demo of Megaman 11 and also Punk is weak to Salt Water in Megaman World 5. Also, would you do the bosses from Megaman&Bass Challengers from the future?
Oh I didn't bother with the demo of 11 there, and for punk's case.. I insisted on just showcasing the cycle of the MMK weapons being strong against each one of them better. I didn't bother with MMB CFTF, but maybe I can do them one time
Commando Man's weakness explanation may make some sense, but it STILL absolutely stumps me because I see no real correlation. The only possible thing I can think of is maybe cutting off the explosive itself from a grenade before it explodes? I mean, his weapon is a remote bomb and his stage has giant grenades and all so it could be something like that similar to how PU Bomb Man's weakness works. Also, nice video Croby. I bet it took you a good amount of time. And props to Francis too! Always a well informed person.
Commando man's take is tricky. However, yes, the rolling cutter way of explanation sounds more plausible since it feels more straightforward, but more technicalities I feel make up for it. I wanted to point out also that Commando man's and Nitro man's representations could be of play. Like how Nitro Man is a stuntman who is used to running away from explosives, so it gives him the edge of dodging whatever a mere commander could throw at him. A more advantageous weakness. Thanks btw!
Anyone who lives somewhere with cold winters knows that ice can take down power lines, shut down power grids, lower batteries' power but the Mega Manuniverse is like: Nah! Electricity beats ice!''
i always thought in terms of a logic approach that bees > splash woman didnt make sense because bees cant fly when their wings are wet and the fight is under water
Something else about Magic Man's weakness being a cutting weapon, among the more well known deadly magic tricks revolve the use of sharp cutting weapons to stab and cut people in half, which have lead to casualties at the hands of amateurs, Mega Man using Tengu Blade on Magic Man is very much he doing those kinda tricks on him wrong
Since Quint is Megaman from a bad future... could his weakness actually be what Megaman himself would be weak to? Since he's called (Rockman). Hard Knuckle has a hard weakness and Crashbomb as second makes sense.
here’s a simplified version of every weakness in the video by order of robot master appearance dr light numbers guts man: demolition and fear of being late ice man: lightning can be bad for tundra areas and bombs blow things up bomb man: fires set off bombs and cutting a wire can result in diffusing a bomb fire man: nitrogen can extinguish fires elec man: cut the wires of an electronic and it no longer works, also oil is terrible for conducting electricity time man and cold man: too much electricity can short circuit an electronic device concrete man: laser trident is strong enough to break durable materials tornado man: lightning can get in the way of wind splash woman: she just hates bees plug man: look at the video since it’s already simple jewel man: nobody wants to lose something valuable hornet man: bees and hornets hate fire magma man: wind blows out fire galaxy man: all i can say is asteroids acid man: the blocks can damage his body
Missing: GameBoy Mega Man World boss fights where the usual weakness isn't present, so another is used instead. Cut Man being weak to Fire Storm could just be that the intense heat warps the steel his blades are made of. Missing: Doc Robot versions of Mega Man 2 bosses, most of whom have more than one. Bubble Man is weak to Needle Cannon because the needles pierce and burst his balloon and Spark Shock because water is very conductive. Metal Man is weak to Magnet Missile because it seeks out his abnormally-metallic-for-a-robot robot body and jams his mechanisms, and weak to at least one other (Shadow Blade or Needle Cannon if not both?) because these are most similar to his original weakness from mega Man 2. Heat Man is weak to Shadow Blade because it is coated in a liquid, and this liquid (like Bubble Lead) extinguishes him. Likewise he is weak to Top Spin for the reason that many other fire-based Robot Masters are weak to wind weapons. Flash Man is weak to Needle Cannon because it is similar in trajectory to Crash Bomber and similar in utility to Metal Blade. Wood Man is weak to Needle Cannon. Crash Man is weak to Hard Knuckle. Quick Man is weak to one or both of Gemini Laser and Hard Knuckle, both very slow weapons that are hard to land a hit with. Almost all the Mega Man 2 Robot Masters in the original have secondary weaknesses. Wood Man is weak to Air Shooter because wind blows away leaves, and the way the projectile spawns can place it inside his shield even when it's up. Wood Man is also weak to Atomic Fire in addition to Metal Blade, with the reasoning being that fire can burn wood. You already covered Metal Man, Flash Man, and Quick Man having multiple weaknesses.
obligatory "cold metal conducts electricity better, hot metal cracks when rapidly cooled" comment. liquid nitrogen smothering a fire is a reasonable answer too I guess
Was about to say - this video was almost uploaded a week ago and that person had done it 4 days ago. I think this one is more in depth and professional than the other one, because hers is throughout ALOT more premature and out of sudden with almost no explanations on why each Robot Master has it’s own weakness.
@TheLonelyGoomba I guess so. It felt so eerie seeing like this person has done it first and then someone else had the same mind to do it. Pardon if I was a bit rude on that one but it did really concern me.
It certainly is a coincidence. At least I would like to believe that. I am not against hers or anything, it's different enough from my own takes, even provided points that are more straightforward than mine. But, just for the context, I announced about the video idea in my community post nearly 10 days before mine was published.
Additional notes regarding some weaknesses:
- Time Man is an old-fashioned clock, which are getting replaced by electronic clocks.
- For Charge Man, it's note-worthy to mention that trains, particularly in the olden days, were highly prone to avalanches when passing by mountains.
- Fake Man, as a scummy police officer, is highly prone to bribes.
- Photocameras are restricted in museums, as flashing light can damage ancient relics with time, hence Pharaoh Man's weakness to Flash Stopper.
- Something something dust wears skeletons out, blah blah blah fossil damage, Skull Man must be really pedantic.
- Dive Man is a navy militant, obviously an image of skulls could be disturbing to a veteran, particularly if amongst the men he'd see die would be a friend or relative.
- Photon Missile blows bubbles, I guess. It's a pointy one, so Venus wouldn't like that.
- A black hole would prevent Mercury's liquid body from reforming correctly, had at least some of the substance making up his body gone into the void.
- Saturn is described as lazy, much to the annoyance of other Stardroids, so a controlled shock should be good motivation (this one's kind of a joke, but it honestly makes some sense).
- Bubble Bomb, as a water-based weapon, does not mix well with Jupiter's electricity, while the explosive side also puts him at risk because of the megaton grade bombs he's said to carry at all times.
- Bulls fight each other by charging at one another, head-on. Break Dash would make Mega Man good at a much more literal form of bull fighting.
- Ground Man's weakness to Remote Mine exists because explosives are extremely dangerous underground, and pirates used the phrase "breaking ground", which was an act of digging for treasure in ruins, like Ground Man's stage.
- Wind Man is likely based on Fujin, god of the wind, who is rivals with Raijin, god of lighting, thunder and storms. Centaur Flash being his weakness could be allegory for that rivalry, immitating a lightning strike's blinding flash.

Although, gotta say, I didn't put some ideas there, like I wanted to add the "Saturn being lazy so a good shock to him would be a good motivation" for instance. But I thought some points like the one I explained for Saturn could do the trick to get the point better, but I really didn't some of these lol
Good notes as always dude
Also get pinned idiot
I never thought about the "Piracy is a sin and sinners go to hell" logic for Pirate Man’s weakness, but I love that because it’s so funny
Oh that's a neat detail there! Although it all comes together to the same point of inflicting danger to the bees, still in a way.
Huh, I never knew Thunder Claw could knock back the Flash Grenades. And the Strike Man weakness is hilarious! Excellent video here, Croby!
to be fair, everything should be weak to Metal Blade if logic were to apply in Mega Man
The rivalry between Mercury and Pluto might also be a funny nod to how Pluto USED to be the smallest planet in our solar system m, but then they were reclassified as a Dwarf Planet, and thus, Mercury STOLE the spot as the smallest planet.
some of the robotmaster's weapon weaknesses are more gameplay based than mechanically, like how spark plug beats tornado man because it travels along the roof and floor which are the 2 places tornado man hangs out for most of the fight. or how air shooter beats crash man because crashman jumps when you shoot and air shooter fires up
While I am pretty sure how the weapons themselves function does make an impact on their weaknesses, I do also think that when they plan on what the next bosses are going to be, they do scheme their relations, then pinpoint their weaknesses with how those weapons can make the fights easier.
Some possible simplier explanations
-Hornet Man is nature themed, fire burns grass
-Terra is earth, Deep Digger could represent an Asteroid hitting Earth
-Ring being weak to Pharoah could be a reference to the Pharoahs curse
-Fire melts ice, ice turns to water, water puts out fire...
-Slash being weak to Freeze Cracker could be a reference to the Ice Age
-Greneade being weak to Thunder Beam could be more elemental as electricity is hot, bomb gets lit early akin to Fire and Bomb from MM1, same applies to Search and Sword, Search is nature, Sword is fire
-MMB original robot masters are like the OG MM1 robot masters so the same reasons could apply (especially towards Cold and Dynamo and Pirate and Burner)
I do love some of these explanations, especially for the MM6 and 5 ones
You know what, the pharaoh's curse one for ring man I wanted to really add, but I felt like it would be pointless even if I wanted to joke about it in a way lol
For Astro Man, the logic I always used is that we use advanced technology like radars, telescopes, rockets, and drones to scope out space. A homing rocket would be able to track Astro Man similar to how we track planets.
Yeah sounds more like it as well
I love how Pharaoh Man section had Croby speaking his native langauge :)
Did you know that fossils, such as bones, actually decay faster when exposed to air and dust? This makes Archeology a bit tricky
fake man is weak to jewel shield because you are bribing the crocked cop
Every other robot master: Weakness that makes some sort of sense
Dynamo Man: E X P L O I T T R A U M A
Fun Fact: Electricity runs more efficiently in cold weather. Thus Ice Man is weak to Thunder Beam
I always imagined the idea of Ring Man being weak to pharaoh shot as trying to get a ball into a hole
As for Jupiter's weapon being effective against Saturn might be a reference to roman mythology where Saturn is defeated by Jupiter who is the god of lightning
I always think that crystal eye is weaknesses of napalm man because when napalm bomb hits it it shatter, reflect and hit the back of napalm man, and because it's slow tank it can't dodge it
Somewhat related to weaknesses, but i find it kinda amusing that Chill Spike is Wily's weakness in MM10, maybe that's how he got sick?
It's funny how some of Wily's weaknesses are just the weapons that are awkward to hit him with (namely Bubble Lead, Plug Ball and Chill Spike)
I always thought of chill spike against Nitro Man being like road spikes popping his tires.
Finally, some of the weaknesses get explained. Some of these (especially Mega Man 4 and 5) have always confused me
20:00 IDK If croby is reading this but it been stated that Skull Barrier is an electromagnetic based weapon. So it would be strong against a water boss.
It was indeed super entertaining to watch, as you said the video was to make. This made me eager to point out some/many additional thoughts (like other people did)
- Many weapons look effective because they catch airborne bosses.
The reason why Saturn is weak to Thunder Shock is because Saturn in Roman Mythology is Chronos and he got defeated by Zeus, the god of lightning

It's also worth noting Junk Man is held together by Magnetic Forces, which he manipulates to create his Junk Shield in the first place
Oh yeah I forgot that bit
Crash Man's weakness make sense since his stage is on a very high place. Launching him out of that pipe tower is a good idea to beat him using the Air Shooter.
-"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"
Crash Man falling hard into the ground
Yknow, that's a wild guess for the weakness but it makes a hilariously good logic lol
Fun fact. In the megaman archie comics, it is shown that high amounts of electricity disrupts time man's time slow.
GutsMan (Construction) < BombMan's weapon (Demolition)
I'd say Splash Woman's weakness to Hornet Chaser is more of a robot activity weakness.
It’s interesting how fireman is weak to any ice robot but flame man wouldn’t be fazed by any ice weapon robot is intriguing

@@aranryan-9440 I already mentioned Terra as the first one from the stardroids

I read someone's theory of Guts Man's weakness to Time Slow is... quite grim.
Saw that theory in a Mega Man 1 stream, which I forgot where.
They say that Guts Man can be compared to the slave labor workers in some dark times.
And if the slave laborers "wastes time", they get executed.
Thus slowing time "hurts" Guts Man's work.
Reminiscent of the unfortunate slaves who didn't completed their tasks in time.
Really professional video. Opened my eyes to a lot of these weaknesses and explained things I never understood, like Tomahawk's. Great watch.
a side note for Rockman & Forte version for Astro Man, his card description says he hates magic, probably because it's either random or there's no logic with it unlike science
8:12 it’s not a bug it was intended by Capcom to feature in more game magazines at the time as like a “fun fact” thing
It's bug by lore, not in gameplay I meant
Jupiter beats Saturn because Zeus/Jupiter killed his father, Chronos/Saturn.
This video is so much needed. I will share this video to my friends.
Out of all weaknesses, Splash is just... really wierd, even for lore or pun logic of megaman.
Marvelous and spectacular video.
And happy new year 🎊🎆🎈
NGL, pretty good video overall. Many of Mega Man weaknesses actually make sense (whether for lore or logical reasons), but there are some that I feel were done for an ironic sake.
Ironic ones like?
I can get one of Pirate Man's and Magic Man's xD
@Crobert24 In retrospect, ironic is not the right term, moreso coincidental or something.
I guess Dive Man's weakness to Skull Man could also symbolize death as a sinking submarine is practically a guaranteed death sentence.
@@sonloto I see. And that's true too for Dive Man. The pirate symbolism I think fits better since it mentions how Dive Man himself hates Pirate Man.
And some are based on mechanics, like the trajectory of the projectile vs. the movement patterns of the boss fight. A lot of the ones based on a fear the character has in his personality were logic added after the fact, with the weakness already existing - or the weakness itself being the reason for the fear.
My head got overloaded information but at least make me remember more the weaknesses
Some of these are just… absurd.
And it reminds me that I need to make my own list, sometime.
[Time Slow > Guts Man]
He's naturally already slow enough; it's poetic to make him slower even more to hinder his job + movement.
[Quick Boomerang & Metal Blade > Metal Man]
This is also poetic since both weapons are considered as metal, which is pretty effective towards his body that isn't his weapon.
[Crash Bomb > Flash Man and Quick Man]
A bit of a stretch but the poetic part for me is "well-timed vs stopping time vs speeding time" which CBs are for.
[Gemini Laser > Needle Man]
Metaphorically, it plays with the "penetration vs reflection" part of the weakness.
[Top Spin > Shadow Man]
Furthermore, ninjas have a great sense of discipline and knows other people's moves. If you manage to do something pretty erratic like let's say guessing 50/50 in combat by doing a tatsu (or that spinny kick made by Ryu) throws them off.
[Rain Flush > Bright Man]
Acid rains tend to corrode a lot of metal and glass casings + rain in general dims the surroundings more.
[Flash Stopper > Pharaoh Man]
I think this is wildly explained already that no flash photography on artifacts or you'll end up degrading them more.
[Ring Boomerang > Dust Man]
Usually roombas and vacuum cleaners don't respond well to any metallic objects getting sucked at it.
(Part 2 in replies)
I always thought the reason Commando Man was weak to Wheel Cutter was because he’s a tank and is generally a more slow heavy hitter while Nitro Man is fast. A bike is faster than a tank so it’s a measure of speed and machinery.
Actually crash man Is build off a very light material that gets easily blown away
I just checked to make sure, and it says that Crash Man is built with a rather thick and sturdy armour instead
@Crobert24 it does?! The 3ds legacy collection lied to me 💔💔
The Legacy Collection does things wrong sometimes like how it removed the NES devices from Junk Man's stage in LC2 💔💔
Megaman's weaknesses patterns
All fire based bosses are weak to ice, water or wind weapons
All ice based bosses are weak to electrical, bomb or fire weapons
By trying to prove this i realized that it also applies to Megaman X bosses
Top Man: "Beyblade beyblade let it rip-"
Snake: Big snakes hunt smaller snakes in the wild all the time.
11:16 Hands also stop tops!

I didn't bother with MMB CFTF, but maybe I can do them one time
13:30 yeah this is why I don’t use power stone until his boss fight because it’s one of if not the worst weapons in all of megaman history.
18:11
My dude turning into a Egyptian God
Thanks btw!
This is peak content
Anyone who lives somewhere with cold winters knows that ice can take down power lines, shut down power grids, lower batteries' power but the Mega Manuniverse is like: Nah! Electricity beats ice!''
i always thought in terms of a logic approach that bees > splash woman didnt make sense because bees cant fly when their wings are wet and the fight is under water
Wouldn't make sense, but they are metallic bees though.
I heard that there are bees that feed on fish meat as well but I wasn't too sure about that
Something else about Magic Man's weakness being a cutting weapon, among the more well known deadly magic tricks revolve the use of sharp cutting weapons to stab and cut people in half, which have lead to casualties at the hands of amateurs, Mega Man using Tengu Blade on Magic Man is very much he doing those kinda tricks on him wrong
The king has returned
oh my god another Egyptian Mega man fan!
This the first time I see a mega man fan from egypt.
Since Quint is Megaman from a bad future... could his weakness actually be what Megaman himself would be weak to? Since he's called (Rockman). Hard Knuckle has a hard weakness and Crashbomb as second makes sense.
Feels too far fetched to me

8:04 Thanks, I thought it was my phone >:(
Napalm man's balls weakness is because he is obviously compensating for something.
Shadowman is also weak against his own because ninja vs ninja.
All of the RMs in MM3 are weak to their own weapons, but I did not think to count them.
@Crobert24 true, but it was a common thing in 70s & 80s western ninja movies that "only a ninja can kill a ninja."
here’s a simplified version of every weakness in the video by order of robot master appearance dr light numbers
guts man: demolition and fear of being late
ice man: lightning can be bad for tundra areas and bombs blow things up
bomb man: fires set off bombs and cutting a wire can result in diffusing a bomb
fire man: nitrogen can extinguish fires
elec man: cut the wires of an electronic and it no longer works, also oil is terrible for conducting electricity
time man and cold man: too much electricity can short circuit an electronic device
concrete man: laser trident is strong enough to break durable materials
tornado man: lightning can get in the way of wind
splash woman: she just hates bees
plug man: look at the video since it’s already simple
jewel man: nobody wants to lose something valuable
hornet man: bees and hornets hate fire
magma man: wind blows out fire
galaxy man: all i can say is asteroids
acid man: the blocks can damage his body
He is back!!!!!
Wait, you're Egyptian? Instant sub habibi
Tomahawk Man has those seasonal allergies. 🤧🌺
obligatory "cold metal conducts electricity better, hot metal cracks when rapidly cooled" comment.
liquid nitrogen smothering a fire is a reasonable answer too I guess

someone's already made a new channel and more or less stole your subject the day after yours was posted
Was about to say - this video was almost uploaded a week ago and that person had done it 4 days ago. I think this one is more in depth and professional than the other one, because hers is throughout ALOT more premature and out of sudden with almost no explanations on why each Robot Master has it’s own weakness.
@@igamesthehero there is no way that person was able to make that video so fast. I think it's just a coincidence.
