Fun fact: first it is not a violin, and second Jenna Ortega never touched a cello until Wednesday when she took classes to play the cello( rather than have someone play it for her, she now could play it herself. Now it is a hobby of hers)
I feel like The Addams Family 90s movie gives a good background into their family and the mythos or dynamic, if you will, of their world. They are not vampires, werewolves, etc. but they do come off as semi-undead or creature-esque. And then there's Thing, cousin It, Lerch...all the weirdness of the people in their circle, who maybe don't fit in the mainstream monster categories. Also, the 90s Morticia and Gomez will forever be couple goals. 🙃
I really like how Wednesday doesn't go into any of that. It's not a remake, it's new material that expands the story.
Well, if you're watching Wednesday, might as well watch the Addams Family movies (Addams Family, and Addams Family Values). That's where Wednesday (Christina Ricci, the sweet teacher in show) became the star of the family.

But I have to say Enid is my breakout character for the show. She’s a real bundle of positivity mixed with violence. Lol
You should watch the two 90's movies. There are so many little hidden details in this series, One big one the fact the 90's Wednesday is in this one. I grew up watching the Movies and I was worried about this new version, but wow did they do a great job!

It says there's four main cliques or subtypes of outcast, but I'd argue there's five - quite a few of the main characters introduced have psychic-based powers. Morticia, Wednesday, Xavier (and as later mentioned, his father), Rowan with his telekinesis (and his mother with her visions), and another character that isn't yet introduced in this episode.
This show is also cool because the actress who played Wednesday Addams in the 90s movies is in it, Christina Ricci. You guys should definitely check out those movies too.

Makes we wish he had directed the live action movies.
If you ever find time, you can watch the two 90s movies. The Addams Family and The Addams Family Values to have an idea what type of family they are.
So, the question on where she got the piranhas or if she knows fencing, and many other questions you might have in the future as you continue the rxtn can be answered by, "she's an Addams" or "they are the Addams."

Tv series in the 60's which had also has a few different cartoon's, 90's movie which Miss Thronhill is played by Christina Ricci actually played Wednesday in these movies. Jenna Ortega for this role learn the cello, fencing and learn German also another thing in episodes 4 she did. There are alot easter eggs from all of other Addams family things. Like how one friends on this was the theme song. Which Tyler says Kooky and Wednesday says Spooky was part them theme song

excited for this one! you guys should definitely react to the two Addams Family movies at some point; they give a lot of context to the Addams Family in general and their whole vibe. it makes the show and Wednesday's character make a lot more sense, especially the fact that she can do so many things (like fencing, fighting, fixing guillotines, etc...); they're kinda like fun easter eggs. glad you guys are enjoying the show! ❤

Wednesday is a psychic like Xavier as she has powerful visions, and she has witchcraft in her lineage.
The dorm mother and herbology teacher with the red boots that gave Wednesday the black Dahlia flowers…are played Wednesday in probably the most famous version of The Addam’s Family in the 90’s movies which ARE SO MUCH FUN!! Highly recommend you check them out if you’ve never seen the before doesn’t have to be on the channel just check them out at some point.
The movies are called The Addam’s Family and the sequel is The Addam’s Family Values.
Ok. You guys need to include the Addams family movies into your movie reactions at some point.
Great reaction! I definitely suggest watching both Addams Family and Addams Family Values either before or after you finish this series. It definitely stands on its own but I feel like you understood the characters more and of course the casting of Christina Ricci more having watched the movies first

It's a great show! It's just so entertaining rarely boreing and everything that happens is calculated. Its dark humor and Tim Burtons asthetic is right up my alley.

I loved this show. I binged it from start to finish on thanksgiving of last year. Just discovered you reacted to it and am about to watch you react to ep 2
Wednesday isn't just magically good at everything. She has been taught those skills since little. That's part of family tradition for untold generations, & the reason is not explained before this show. Once you finish the season & know more about Outcast history then it makes sense.
The Addams family members are all freaks & geeks in the literal definition, not the insulting way. Assorted minor physical mutations (like Uncle Fester's electrical power & ability to eat weird things, Cousin Itt's hair & voice, etc) & sometimes psychic abilities which get them branded as "witches". In cannon Grandma Addams & Morticia both talk to spirits, so this version just takes that literally & explains that they are Seers & Wednesday has inherited the ability. (Also I'm still wondering if it was Morticia, Gomez, or Wednesday that subconsciously made the ravens crash into their car to the beat of the song.🤔)
I think it was Morticia who did that since she and Gomez were both humming it.

Her father Gomez is an expert in fencing so he taught her how to fence. It was prevalent in the old 60's TV show.
