Many thanks for the review, Brian! Very glad you enjoyed the book. I've been enjoying your tour of Europe on Facebook.

    "I'm not giving any spoilers"
Also him: "They find a pistol in the book!"

King of thorns was my favorite of the 3. I love everything about Jorg other than his annoying obsession. 5 star series

Glad I'm not the only one to see Wolfe's fingerprints on the series.
What also impresses me about Lawrence is that the main characters in Red Queen and the Ancestor trilogies are all completely different. Although forgotten technology is a common theme, especially in Ancestor.

I feel like Mark Lawrence handles the flashbacks four years prior amazingly well. That and his overall ability to craft a story is so intriguing, even if you’re disgusted by the characters.

At last! A published author saying they don't care for flashbacks. Myself, I don't mind characters remembering something from the past but when you have entire sections or (gasp!) chapters as flashbacks, then it really annoys me. Having said that, great review, Durfee, I'll definitely be on the lookout for this series, it sounds cool.

lol just know half of each book are flashbacks, pretty much 2 timelines of past and present. I loved the trilogy but the 2 timelines was hard to get into. Especially the last book.

Just finished this trilogy. Loved it! A lot to be said for rape and pillage.

Brian, I can't read as fast as you, and my TBR pile is massive as it is, much of it because of your reviews. 🥴

I generally hate flashbacks as well. It feels so tangential. And it gets confusing as the read sometimes. Or if you are listening to an audiobook and you walk out of the room for a minute and come back. The story has totally jumped, and you don't know what's going on! So, you have to stop and rewind it until you can figure out what's going on. I like authors that can briefly mention past events a lot better.

Hey brian. Are you going to continue writing fantasy? The way lonesome crown ended it left it open to more in the world, before Lajon. Or before the human come to the isles. Or after. Either way. I'd love to get more, in this world, or another fantasy series unrelated, lonesome crown is a top 5 book of all time for me, sɔ I'm craving more epic fantasy from you

Prince of thorns is a dope book if you mean by that you read the first few pages and want to murder the protagonist? What a bunch of garbage I threw that book away within 15 minutes of starting to read

@@alexwallachian7720 i’m not for censorship so if there’s a market for that type of stuff go for it it’s just really pissed me off when I read it

@georgemalone3318 not sure why there would be any censorship. There's a whole genre called grimdark which is all about dark, depressing, no good guys etc.
