As someone who lives in the Detroit area there is a lot of prohibition history here. My favorite fact is that in Canada it was still legal to produce liquor for export, as long as it was to a non prohibition country. So people from Detroit would row boats across the river to Canada, buy as much liquor as the boat could hold, and then on the export for write the destination as "Cuba".

However the movement might have started, Prohibition wouldnt have even been a thing if it wasnt backed by petrol companies that didnt want a distilled-alcohol based fuel to succeed. Its a well known fact, the rest is folklore we could have cheap ethanol motors by the 1930s but the lobby found "a cause" and backed it.

Greg, let's start a band. THE Phantom Almonds or just Phantom Almonds? Or "Just Phantom Almonds"?
This could have been hours long. Love the history!
“We’re gonna crank these out, they got stop watches back there...” video’s 26 min long.
Granted it was 6 drinks though.
His pronunciation of maraschino consistently grinds my gears in so many of these videos. Otherwise, as a beverage professional, I love these videos. Keep up the good work.
"The documentary on prohibition is maybe a little bit dry"
ba-dumm-tss
This is so satisfying to watch and listen too.. I don't drink, but I love this show. Keep up the great work!
I did not expect a lesson on pre-prohibition drinking, but I am ALL FOR IT.
I don't always enjoy the little history lessons you give, just not what I go for when I watch your videos, but I tend to enjoy interesting lectures and a different view on something in history. Giving a bar tender/mixed drink expert's take on it was cool and I honestly really enjoyed the history lesson this time 'round. Keep up with the amazing videos!
I need a playlist with the background music, it makes me feel H I G H O N L I F E & H Y P E D
"Excuse me I am sticky everywhere" PHRASING
Right, so now the question on my mind is "Is there a cocktail called 'Scrotum Drink' or 'The Scrout' out there?"
I really like your garnish choices
Ironic: Repeal day video preceded by an anti-vaping ad.
Fun. I made a "Bees Knees" while watching. I used a vintage Nick & Nora glass and I happened to have a bit of soft ginger candy.
Delightful
I suggest as every time:
Kuva from Warframe ^^
Oh hell yeah
As soon as Greg started talking about the mobsters I heard "The Night Chicago Died" by Pretty Poison, which is about Al Capone and the Valentine's Day Massacre
this is a very educational video but it's also incredibly aesthetically pleasing
I'm saving this video, the 2020's are gonna be lit
Old-world Ghost we should be drunk half the day like the 1910’s then actually
Hoooboy
i love how these drinks all form such a pleasant color palette! i guess it makes sense with so many repeated ingredients
if i remember right there was a lady with a hatchet who went around destroying bars during prohibition times
EDIT: I need to stop commenting before i finish a video. I'm a year from legal sippy age, but i like watching because reasons.
I commented also before I started watching it the weird thing is I don't know if anybody can see it ... the how to drink guy gave Hearts to acknowledge other people's comments but not mine.... maybe he didn't like mine about my dad's parents owning a speakeasy and being bootleggers..... what's not to like about that ?
@@gardensofthegods There's nothing not to like about that. Perhaps you worded it poorly. Could be he just wasn't online at the time, but would've hearted it of he was. Might not have had time to read every comment.
Your grandparents are awesome though, props to them.
That was more of a thing before the prohibition was legally issued. On the other hand there were government officials poisoning alcohol with strychnine during the prohibition.
