Hey man, I'm so happy to see you're back once again after such a long time, i remember your reactions were one of the best around the scene teaching me/us a lot of things. Sad to hear about your bad experience with others fans, fortunately those aren't around here anymore as far as I see, that's not the majority of BM fans, and I know the copyright blocked let down the mood of many others good reactors and is totally understandable so again appreciate you're back, so far this one is having no issue to anyone so hopefully will stay that way.🙏
Btw just like Herman Li recently said reacting to this song, they're warming up us for something better, so the best is yet to come, so far this one will do my whole month until next single at least.
If you want to go back with more BM songs try to look for the help of Reactor Resource (BMRR), to get watermarked logo clips of their best live performance normally safe to react.
_The time has come. Stand up!_ ⚔️🐎
Welcome to the new BabyMetal era and their metalverse.🦊🤘🌐
Glad you're part of this new BM era all of us, The One, are enjoying a lot.🔥
BM is back! This is their 1st single out of five until album release next year and is totally a banger and my jam, plus SuMetal got the lyrics credits on this, everyone is proud and happy she reached one of her dreams. She rocks!❤️
"Divine Attack - Shingeki" got some drum&bass combined with the heavy riffs of metal sound and belongs to the Cavalry snippets set they were releasing on The Other One digital gallery, also "The Other One" is the name of their next concept album. Love the "Pendulum" vibes in that DnB section, but also got some reminiscence to Kingslayer, their latest collab with BMTH. Btw I think, and this is a common guess among fans, the lyrics got kinda a tribute or some inspiration from Attack On Titan (Shingeki No Kyojin) anime series, the more i hear the lyrics the more i'm convinced, but we all know this is part of a concept album with apparently different worlds on each one of their songs and everything, including the story, will be revealed at their own time. So far we can say that this song carry the spirit of Road Of Resistance and some others songs with uplifting lyrics but is a battlecry, a call to arms and fight for your future.
Thanks for sharing this and hope to see you next month with their next single.🦊🤘🔥
Here's a base translation from a Japanese fan and some fix i made. This is my 2.1 ver.
Full title: Divine Attack - Shingeki
    Divine Attack - 神撃
    Credits: SU-METAL · MEGMETAL · HAYAMETAL
    [Intro]
The long night is upon us.
    A noisy wind blows.
    Here we gather, mighty men,
with blades of steel in our hearts.
Together we vow, together we shout.
    Let our journey begin here.
    [Verse 1]
The way of escape has been cut off
    The silence has been broken
The time has come to fight
    Raise your hand
    [Chorus]
_The time has come, stand up_
Go forward to the tomorrow you've drawn
    _Time to go your way_
Open the road with your hands
    [Verse 1]
Even if it's a fleeting dream
Even if it's against your destiny
    If it's worth defying
I want you to offer your heart
    [Chorus]
_The time has come, stand up_
If there's a future you want to see
    _Time to go your way_
Break through the wall with your hands
    [Instrumental Bridge]
    [Chorus]
_The time has come, stand up_
Go forward to the tomorrow you've drawn
    _Time to go your way_
Open the road with your hands
    [Post-chorus]
    Woh, oh oh, oh oh
Go forward to the tomorrow you've drawn
Woh, oh oh, oh oh oh oh
Open the road with your hands

Glad you're back with the band, Chase! Your musical insights always help me appreciate the music more. You're right about the drum and bass influences. One of the people who arranged the music said so himself.
BABYMETAL definitely has a super passionate fanbase -- even to a fault on occasion. I think we're generally intensely protective of the girls since they began super young and their unique style attracted some controversy and vitriol. Sometimes some people get overzealous, but I'm glad that didn't stop you from checking this great song out!
It's the first time Su-metal, the lead singer, is writing the lyrics for the song. It's always been her dream to be a songwriter but she said in an old interview that she didn't have the confidence yet and wanted to understand metal more before giving it a shot. I think she did great!

The Other One is the title of the new album, due in March. They are are releasing a single, a month (except December) until the album drops, in late March.
The thing that stood out for me, is Moa's vocals, on the 3rd chorus. She was awesome. Then again, I'm a Moa Simp!😍🥰😍

Great to see you back! As expected, this was great fun. Cool to see that the song makes you smile and excites you. I have yet to listen to the song on headphones, but I suspected that It would gain a lot from it, and you have confirmed that. After my first listen I tended to criticize the song for being too simple, but watching videos like yours really help me to enjoy it more by realizing intricate details and the reasoning behind particular arrangement decisions. I feel like it makes me grow as a musician and even as a listener. The missing second verse really does come as a surprise, doesn't it? But especially with BABYMETAL, I want to be surprised! And a relatively short song like this leaves you wanting more, which is rarely ever a bad thing.

Great reaction, thanks and welcome back!
Sorry to hear about the blocking issues and the "intense" interactions with "fans". Because I still remember your "Megitsune" reaction as one of the best reactions I've ever watched (and I've watched quite a few of them...).
About this song, keep in mind that their new album will be a concept album and "Divine Attack" is apparently its second track. It goes probably after an intro and the ending of this song suggests some sort of continuity to the next one. So although it's not called to be a hit, it's really good and serves the purpose to open or at least be an early approach to the general theme of the album.
Furthermore, Su-metal is credited among the song writers of the lyrics for the first time. That's a really big achievement and (in her own words) a "dream" and "a final goal in life". So, I'm extremely happy for her and so proud.
    Until next time!

I appreciate your return to BM 有難う💛。 Your professional observation has been always enlightening. (If your friend, Tank The Tech, comes back as you do, it will make me happier.) The third era (or fourth?) of BABYMETAL has just begun. I reconfirmed the purity of Su's voice even after some maturity. Moa's velvety but powerful voice in the back sounds great, too. The first thing came up in my brain was Dante's "The Divine Comedy". A figure with wings reminded me of Beatrice in purgatory. The sacred image is overlapping with Su and Moa, but we all know that is just one of their various faces that we are going to witness from now on. Let's not be judgmental in haste. Hail to the newly born lyricist Su!! 😍

Su’s voice sounds very good on this track. More mature (obviously) and singing in a slightly lower register. So powerful.

    • @Icipher353
      @Icipher353 2 года назад +4

It helps that they haven't gone quite as hard with the production on her voice this time around. In the past they have over-engineered the vocals and it strips all the life out of Su's voice. Its one of the big reasons why the live versions are so much better than the studio versions.

    • @MaartenT
      @MaartenT 2 года назад +3

      @@Icipher353
I can't comment on Babymetal's previous output as I have only heard a handful of tracks and mainly older ones, but I honestly feel like there is even a little too much production on the vocals in this track (I am somewhat sensitive to this type of vocal production). I can not imagine how much more there was on their previous album. That said, it's a common thing with Japanese bands nowadays unfortunately. I agree with you that it makes vocals sound like robots instead of people, I personally don't understand why producers feel the need to put on so much processing (and auto-tune/pitch correction).
It's a shame when they do that to vocalist who have a good voice in my opinion, but I guess pop music and vocaloids have infected the minds of many people to what sounds good or not and that's obviously also subjective. A lot of people seem to like that particular robotic sound. Music doesn't have to be "perfect" though, it's the imprefections that give it soul imo.

    • @Icipher353
      @Icipher353 2 года назад +4

@@MaartenT Yeah, its frustrating when they mess with a vocalist who is so naturally good that she doesn't need it. I find the studio recordings pretty soulless, and only really listen to the live performances since that's where Su's voice really shines.

Glad you came back to the Fox Hole Chase. I know you always enjoyed listening to the band.
I do want to push back on one point... while I am not in a position to really tell how difficult any instrumental part of the song is (the drumming sounds appropriately bonkers to me)... I think that the whole mix of the song is incredibly difficult. You certainly mentioned certain parts that peaked your ears (the EQ in the second instrumental)... but, it's the whole symphonic elements that ties the whole thing together to me. And, you didn't even mention it. (Not a criticism... there is a lot going on that hearing everything in the first listen is impossible).
Having done live music engineering in the past, I know how difficult it is to get the sound correct even when I only had 24 channels to work with. I wouldn't be shocked if there was easily 100 "channels" mixed into this song... but it doesn't sound like it. Gotta give credit to the engineering and mixing teams here.

Your perception of the musical details is superior to 98% of the reactions that I have seen. And more importantly you seem to understand the concept that BM are trying to convey and correctly place it in context to the larger metal scene. Great song, but it's not just that, it's the first time Su-metal has been credited for writing the lyrics, exactly 10 years after she graduated from Sakura Gakuin and expressed her dream of becoming a singer-songwriter. Huge accomplishment and very symbolic! The other new single, Monochrome, is also great and has a different style from this one.
It's unfortunate that copyright issues deter you from doing more reactions. There's so many crazy live performances for you to discover! I've seen many reactors avoiding the issue. I can't speak from personal experience, but adding a transparent logo on top of the video should be more than enough, since you pause and comment regularly. I'd start with smaller tweaks to the embedded video and keep adding until it goes through and have it saved as a preset for future videos.

I have listened to plenty of Drum & Bass years ago, this is very close to one of the more used Drum & Bass breakbeats for sure.
Nothing wrong with that and a lot of Japanese bands are using a lot more electronica nowadays (especially on vocals and production). To me it usually sounds less of a metal or rock track because of that. Not a huge fan of the huge amount of production and pitch-correction or auto-tune on the vocals myself (I don't know them well but I do know Su should be fine without that stuff), but again most bands do this nowadays unfortunately. I think almost all new albums I have bought of Japanese bands this year have had it to at least some extent, some of them to the point that I dislike the album because of it. I personally wouldn't categorize this track as a metal track but as a Drum & Bass track (again, nothing wrong with that), there almost no "real" instruments in sight (or they are hidden by effects).
Not bad overall though, I am not familiar enough with most of Babymetal stuff (especially their newer material) to make comparisons, but it's probably a little too electronic for my taste (I like it more than Pa Pa Ya though which I have heard of their newer tracks). I love a lot of electronic music, but usually not when I am listening to rock or metal bands (I generally feel like they don't mix well with a couple of exceptions).
I have seen a lot of positive reactions though, so that's great news for the fans who were waiting for a long time for new music. I always hope fans of bands get what they want even if that band or music might not be 100% for me. I already heard the Gaijin Guys reaction, so I knew it wasn't really my thing, but I still wanted to check out your reaction as well.
    Great job as always.

Had a moment, with this "The Other One" , maybe we will see Moa taking on more vocal lines, she sounds great too, but man did not realize how much I have missed Su's voice

I remember you as someone who championed and very much enjoyed Babymetal, I have no idea, what those so-called "fans" had to bitch about. Hope you know, the vast vast majority of us appreciate and support you. 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻
Great reaction and excellent song. And with lyrics by Su no less. I love everything about them, and already know, the new album will continue the insane high standard they have always set 🤘🏻

I liked this one more than most of their older songs. Less J-pop, I think? I've always admired and respected them for their talent, especially Su for her amazing vocals, but Babymetal was never really my thing because of too much J-pop in the metal for my taste (but I'm fascinated enough by them that I am subbed to their RUclips). If this is a sign of what to expect from them moving forward they might finally hook me, but I wonder how long time fans will take less J-pop in their sound?

This song is very interesting with the vocal style Su is using, and the way it incorporates drum'n'bass elements. It's going to be exciting to see it live, since the live versions always go harder than the studio versions.

Great reaction and break down, Chase! As always.
I have never been the biggest fan of Babymetal, though I do appreciate the talent of the kami band and the fact that Su is a bloody good singer. I always thought they were a bit of a gimmick and never took them too seriously. That being said, I will never ever critisize them for that, because without them I would have never discovered the absolute musical goldmine that is Japan. They were the gateway and for that I am eternally grateful. Without them I would have never heard of Band-Maid (who rapidly became my all time favourite) or Maximum The Hormone, Nemophila and what have you.
As for the song, what a banger! Very different from their earlier work, but still a definitive Babymetal vibe, yet way more mature. They sort of disappeared from my radar, but after hearing this, I'm definitely going to check out their more recent work and if it is anything like Divine Attack, I may become a fan after all :) Cheers!

It would seem like Amuse has lightened up as most reactions these days are uncensored. Perhaps because of the new material becoming available.
I am surprised that that you haven't done the fabulous colab between two groups you apearently like, Bring Me The Horizon and BabyMetal's "Kingslayer". "Song of year" 2021 (although it came out late in "20, but everything was shut down and it didn't get much play/recognition.

I suggest that you use the links below
From the Babymetal Reactor Resource ruclips.net/video/q40VmTHSh4c/видео.html
Going forward, if reactors want to keep reacting to the videos, I've come up with a solution that will make it possible to continue using the videos with logos that have already been tested against blocks.
    I've made a spreadsheet - docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZYdthVAHYaOAYL6AuhVOHotQinMoPPFEuspqDMIIGD4/edit#gid=0
with links to both the logo and the non-logo videos, hosting them on a Russian social media site that won't remove them, and is out of the reach of the copyright trolls. There are a bit over 30 videos on there now, but I'll keep uploading more every day until they're all backup. I'll also be adding new videos that I'll test on an alt RUclips account before adding to the spreadsheet.
If you can't access the spreadsheet for whatever reason, here are direct links to both the non-logo videos and the videos with logos:
    No logos - ok.ru/video/c6630874
    With logos - ok.ru/video/c7184602
For reactors that want to put their logo over the videos, here is a link to the logos I use that are already made transparent - drive.google.com/file/d/1JUVfJGp36xR2n1FHl7PzRIxXhA5P4VyW/viewor you can use whatever logo you'd like.
You can download the videos, which I recommend since the site can be a bit laggy sometimes, from this free website - okvid.download
Although there are other videos on my channel there, only use the ones on the spreadsheet because some of the other non-logo videos aren't RUclips-safe.
    Kitsunes UP!

Great reaction Chase and glad to see that you are back with Babymetal. I am sorry that you had some bad experiences with the fan base, from my experience everyone is usually very friendly and helpful, yet passionate.
That song is a banger and Su got her first credits for writing the lyrics. So proud of her!!!
I love your breakdowns and insights and yes, Babymetal doesn’t follow any rules and always manages to surprise you, which is great. We get another new song in November, and then 3 more in January, February, and March next year. I can’t wait for them and the album of course :)
I think they were using some low tuned 9 string guitars for the song, but I could be completely wrong. Either way, I hope to see more Babymetal reactions from you! Kitsune up 🤘🔥🦊

Speaking of your intro, I remember that I stayed in a Babymetal Facebook group like 5 years ago for like... 10 mins. Felt like Auschwitz could have been sweeter. Most of them are like pitbulls. Even if you say: this song... hmmm... I think that part is not that good.... pffff... WAR UNLEASHED: you are not open minded, you are elitist, you are rasist, you like chinese etc. Wasted 10 mins of my life. In a way its funny since the idea of Babymetal stands exactly for the essence of flexibility.

Great to have you back reacting again Chase! Great job on the breakdown. Baymetal experimenting with different sounds keeps them fresh sounding, but you still know it's BabyMetal. BTW, I met Ryan, Wave and Alan from Gaijin Guys this past weekend at the Band-Maid concert in Boston. Great guys. Very nice. Hope you get to meet them some day.

If you like this, you might be interested also into listening to Leda''s (one of the main Kami Band guitarists) previous band - DELUHI. His style is quite recognisable. DELUHI had two reunion concerts in the begining of 2019. Tickets where gone in seconds, but luckily, there are few videos. "Hybrid Truth" or "Remember The Rain" from The Xing of Deluhism 19.04.2019 might be up your alley. Also Sugizo, the guitarist of LUNASEA and Juno Reactor is def someone that's worth checking.

Just another apology for the whack fans. Most of us are pretty cool I think. As long as you aren't mean and belittling (and some reactors are) we can handle people who aren't really into it (which is not you).
