Thank you for another Nightwish reaction :-) And it was really nice to see you do a bit of drumming too! Even though you don't like to see yourself (I totally get that, same here) and you said it wasn't that good... man you still play waaaaayyyyy better than me (can't play anything except my computer keyboard :-p ...) Don't be to harsh on yourself. Or maybe take revenge and make a new drumsolo video to show us what it sounds like 10 years later ;-) I'm sure many of us would love to see and enjoy that!
One of the very best, growing on me all the time. This song, being anti-organised religion, caused a lot of controversy for being anti-religion - it's not actually anti-religion; more specifically it is criticism of organised religions that have propagated fear over the centuries. They addressed this in interviews at the time. Here are some band comments about that: MARCO: What comes to the new lyrics, "Weak Fantasy" was the only one that actually hints at ancient tribal literature We obviously realized that religion is a touchy subject and that we'd have to carefully consider the tone of the lyrics. It's still funny that you can publicly criticize and mock art and politics as much as you want, as well as artists and politicians but when you stick your finger in the hornet's nest of religion.. uh-oh. TROY: We were working on "Weak Fantasy" for quite a while. Tuomas originally used more direct, aggressive metaphors, but in the end, we decided to opt for a more ambiguous tone. Some people might still find "Weak Fantasy" confrontational, but you can have different interpretations as well. The wisdom is in the eye of the beholder. TUOMAS: We discussed this stuff with the band for hours on end, and everybody stood behind the lines in Weak Fantasy" for instance. In Nightwish, I have never felt the need to neither rebel nor preach, and that hasn't changed, but if the listener stops to consider different viewpoints because of our music, that's always great. There's never enough open, intelligent, and unprejudiced discussion in the world. Marco- There's obviously nothing wrong with leaning a higher power per se. A belief in something supernatural can comfort you and help you get through the day. But its just horrible when people use ancient religions as an excuse for their own utterly condemnable acts or to instigate senseless indiscriminate hatred towards others. Blind fundamentalism seldom leads to anything good, whether you bow to Allah. Jahve, Jesus, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or something else. TROY: As the wisdom goes, if you could reason with a fundamentalist, there would be no fundamentalists. TUOMAS: It's only during the last years that l've started to question my own religious stance. Why have I been a Lutheran and believed in the kind of God Lutherans do? It's simply because I was born in Finland in the 1970's. In another culture, in another time, there would have been another god above others. In 10th century Denmark, I would have worshipped Odin and Thor. If I'd been born North Korean, I would've been forbidden to believe in any kind of Supreme Being In other words: what you believe in - or what you think you believe in - is based on pure coincidence. TROY: It's baffling, but some of my friends are actually afraid that I will be cast intothe fiery pits of hell. I can only compare these dear friends of mine to chain smokers in this respect: they know it's unhealthy, but they still refuse to quit. I don't understand why people believe in something without any proof, yet laugh at other similar beliefs - I mean, if I were to claim that you can live to be 150 by eating just yoghurt, nobody would believe me. They would ask me for some kind of proof and research findings. Why can't they apply this logic universally? TUOMAS: To be precise, I consider my- self an agnostic atheist. I don't believe in God, so that makes me an atheist How do I know that God does not exist? I don't, but neither does anybody else. That's why I am also an agnostic. To confess that you do not know some- thing is actually an intelligent and constructive stance. It makes you humble, unlike a blind belief in something unproven MARCO: We had just returned from an 18-month hiatus, so everybody was itching to make some noise again even to rehearse! It's always interesting to play new material, because new songs are not in muscle memory yet. I'm using a double-neck instrument for "Weak Fantasy" for example, and there's a moment when I have to leave the bass humming, turn on the guitar, and, on a certain eighth note quickly grab the other neck. You have to practise these things quite a bit to be able to play them with confidence.
This song was like number 8 in the set I think, the guys usually get a shout out at some point during the show when they have a standout part, here Empuu gets one for Nemo and Marko for While Your Lips Are Still Red. And dude there's no wrong version to react to, they're all amazing.
@@ejllamobeolan5025 I think @RolfMeyer was being somewhat ironic/sarcastic/tongue-in-cheek. Note that he put the words "love letter" in quotes. It's quite clear from the lyrics that it's actually the exact opposite. Nightwish is indeed secular. I think Rolf knows this, but you misunderstood his comment and took it literally the wrong way. At least I hope that's the case! Maybe Rolf can clarify it for us if he sees these comments?
Antti Kangasaho filmed and released several drum-cam videos from this time frame. Here's the link to the Weak Fantasy video. They're all fun to watch, even to me who has never played drums. ruclips.net/video/FbWzilsAOYs/видео.html
🤘❣️ Thank you! Finally one of my alltime favourites live🤘 ( Tampere has better vocals! and you can see the band a bit better). But not enough Nightwish yet😊. Please go on.
Glad you went for a live version, not just for the visuals but also because this is the NW song I feel is most improved when played live. The studio version is one of my least favourite tracks on the album - not that it's bad, "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" is my favourite album of all time, it doesn't have a bad track on it - but I love this. Also, thanks for sharing your performance - no need to feel embarassed, you did a good job of that solo. (Aesthetically I prefer you with a beard, BTW.)
Very nice drumming, its a wonder you could see your drums when playing with the glow sticks. Kai has done a drum "solo" concert, with his son, also on drums, in a small club setting perhaps in Helsinki. I think it was in 2023, or 2024. They played along with music from Nightwish and some other bands. You may want to search for it.
One of my all time favorite NW songs. This version is great as well of course, but I personally prefer the Tampere version even a bit more. You might want to experience that rendition as well.
One of my top 5 favorites, Check out ``Slaying the Dreamer`` also for a pure metal song, There is a video of Kai and his son on You Tube drumming together which is awesome. You were great in your solo, and I would not call that fat lol. ps , your thoughts on the Steelers season so far lol
I appreciate that. I see that as fat mainly because I was so unhealthy. Steelers season so far is pretty exciting. We keep winning by the skin of our teeth though. We need more touchdowns.
I absolutely love this song. But I think you won't care for the lyrics too much (don't know if you picked them up). They are basically saying that stories from the bible as well as the constraints and customs given by the church are mostly not child friendly and that we should rather tell our children some positive fables.

It's almost 10 years old, but I figured it would be fun to watch.
Nice drumming and performance.🤘
Rock on!
With all the negativity in the world, thankfully we have Floor and Nightwish with positive vibes.🖤🖤🖤
Kai's drum intro is a bit different in Tampere 2015. He just never stops amaze me.
Cool
One of the underrated songs from the Wembley performance, like Stargazers....
And stellar voice.

This Song is a "love letter " to the three book religions. 🤘🤘🤘 Kiss the Ring and praise
😮It's not a love letter to any religions. Nightwish is secular. And if you want to believe different, welcome to your weak fantasies.
