This workbook combines an average dollar cost cryptocurrency portfolio tracker with an exit strategy / take profits worksheet. It is free to download with the link above.

I have a problem with calculating the average value per coin.
For example, when we add two transactions:
ticker - no. of coin - total cost - per coin
1. ADA - 97.52 - $ 141.4 - $ 1.45
2. ADA - 12 - $ 25.8 - $ 2.15
This average purchase price per coin should be ca. $ 1.53 but in the "Exit strategy" tab there is $ 1.8

Hello Paula, I would like to thank you first of all for this great tool that you are providing us for free.
I would like to ask you if is possible to change the "average per coin" value in the Sale Point Sheet, from a simple Average, to a Weighted Average (even if I have to add the formula manually somewhere). Sometimes it happens that you buy a LOT of coins at a certain price, and then you buy a LITTLE quantity of the same coin at a much higher price for example. The value that the "average per coin" shows it will not be the real one, but much higher as it doesn't weigh the amount of coins that you actually buy at each different price.
If not possible, maybe just make it in a way that the value showed in the "average per coin" is a simple SUM of the purchase prices (value that we put in manually) / SUM of the number of coins (value that we put in manually).
Or maybe there is a reason why it is like it is, as a simple average?

I have been mining and have been getting a few coins for free, and I have sent them to my wallet, but would like to add them to my portfolio within your spreadsheet. How do I add them in as they cost me $0.00? I have temporarily add them in saying they cost me $0.0000001.
Is there a way to track your portfolio win/loss ratio and stuff like in coinmarketmanager but in excel using an API key? Or a simpler way that to type all the values in. Love your videos by the way, they are nice to follow and understand

Paula. The workbook has been great help however I have a problem with 1 coin showing with 2 graphs on the dash and the values being doubled. Ive combined all the coins transactions to a single transaction without any luck. I thought I might try to find the problem however I cant see the Calculation Sheet. Can you offer any advice?

I have a little concern on "No. of Coin' column. How do you extend that column to be able to accommodate 12 digits? For example, the current column is not able to contain numbers like 0.000000000001. Hi Paula, thanks for a great resource, a lot of work went it to completing it. Unfortunately, it will not refresh. Privacy settings have been adjusted between private and organisational. When refreshing three alert windows popup with a query issues.

Hi Just had the same issue and solved! Go to -> Tab DATA - Get Data - > Launch Power Query editor -
Select File > Options and Settings > Data Source Settings.
Excel Select Data > Get Data > Data Source Settings.
2.Select Edit Permissions. The Edit Permissions dialog box appears.
3.Under Privacy Level, select an option from the drop-down list: Choose Public for the all 3.

Just a question does the ROI have a limit of coins to display as i seem to only get 11 to show of the 13 i have listed....
I have tested holding 50 coins with no issues. If you have problems with ROI, then there is a chance you have coins to add to the extra coins list. I would like to debug this for you but I don't have enough info.

Hi Paula - just watched the video again. All very clear. Just 1 query about the initial capital entry. I started by depositing (on Kraken) the BTC & Eth I had mined. As you suggested, I will enter their GBP value as my Initial Capital. A couple of months later I deposited some GBP on Kraken, and then a month or so later, some GBP on Coinbase and eToro. Do I add these deposits to my Initial Capital?

This is amazing Paula! I am using a Mac, and was already in the process of building my own. This has given me a really nice guide. Too bad I won't be able to use it myself! Question - I see there is a hidden sheet called "Calculations" which is referenced quite a bit on the Dashboard. I don't see this sheet in the hidden sheets list however, and it's not listed on the tabs. Any ideas how I could get that so I can see how the calculations are made?

Hi Paula, entering my crypto into your spreadsheets for the first time. When I enter a sale transaction what is the selling point column? I figured it was the price of the coin at the time of sale but the spreadsheet won't accept because it doesn't follow the format set up by the creator of the spreadsheet. Any idea what this col should be?
Could you please guide how I can add another sheet in the workbook (sheet having the trading data copied from binance) so that the buy and sell transactions be entered automatically in the purchase and sales list all the time, if found the new entries in the trade sheet. The trading data can be copied from binance easily. If this could be done than that will fulfil my purpose. Thanks
sure take it one step further and connect to your binance api and auto pull in the data.

Thank you so much Paula and Simon, this spreadsheet is a gamechanger! One question... how is the acquisition cost calculated? After entering my transaction history, the acquisition cost on the dashboard is significantly more than the total purchases. Is this factoring additional costs or should these be the same? Thanks
I have the same situation. Acquisition cost and resulting Investment values are noticeably higher than actuals. I had more coins than the Transaction entry table initially allowed so I inserted more rows. Not sure if that impacted other areas or name range/table calculation in the spreadsheet. I love the sheet and implementation by Paula, so hoping to get to the bottom of the discrepancy.
Yeps you are correct there was a bug on the sheet for the acquisition cost, this has now been fixed along with another bug where coins like shiba with a fraction of a cent cost were not being recognized. we have uploaded a new version. just copy and past your data from the last one and all should be good.

Hello. New to the worksheet. I am putting in all of my transactions. All of my purchases are in, but I do not understand how to put in past Sales of coins for the price I sold them at. So say I sold 2 ETH in 2017 for a profit of $150. How can I enter that in when the Exit strategy doesn’t allow me to put in a number that is exact for a past time frame. I want to be able to enter a past sales transaction without using the exit strategy form. Or learn how to enter one in the exit strategy form. Any help?

Thanks for the awasome excel but I keep getting this when I go to refresh data 'Initiaization of the data source failed. Check the database server or contact database admin. Make sure the external database is available .....and next message comes up as The following data range failed to refresh ExternalData_1 .. am I doing something wrong?

Hi Paula. I ran into a problem when I put my coins and transaction history, it double the type of coin. For example, on dashboard I have two bars of BTC, ETH and so on. Have you encountered this problem and do you know how to solve this?
I have the same issue. The "Qty of Tokens" is double what I actually have, and the 'Acquisition Cost' is exactly double what it actually cost, which throws off the P/L and the ROI massively. Can't figure out why its doubling everything.
Is there a way to convert this to work in CAD?
Hi, how do you extend the width of the columns? I have coins such as SHIB and SAITAMA, which have a lot of zeros. The fact that the current price for these coins has so many zeros, I am unable to see the details of important columns on the Exist Strategy section such as: Tokens Sold, Tokens Over, Profit, etc. PLEASE HELP!!

When I have added all my transactions and my extra coins ID's etc, I hit refresh but my Dashboard shows each coin twice and doubles the Investment, Cost, and Token amounts. I am using Windows 10.

Hi Paula, great tracker! I have one quick question. We have SHIB currency and that one does not work. It keeps saying it needs to be added to the extra coins, even though it is already part of the 250 default coins... Am I doing something wrong? Thank you so much!
there was a bug on the sheet due to the extreme low price of shib. we have now corrected this, but you will need to download the sheet again. You should be able to copy and paste your data from the old to the new rather fast.

Thanks so much for this tracker Paula!!! I would like to add a formula to calculate my avg price per coin for each token I own after DCA’ing in. My exchanges don’t show this so I have to manually calculate it and it’s not precise since I may buy 10 tokens at $200/ea one day then 20 tokens at $150/ea the next. Do you have a formula & way to add into this spreadsheet? Thanks again for all your help, I’ve been subscribed for many months now but am just now making use of your wonderful spreadsheets.

Downloaded workbook and cannot 'Refresh'. Getting multiple 'Microsoft.Mashup.Evaluator.... errors. I have Excel ver 16.0.4..... 64-bit. After download are there any specific instructions needed for setting up with Excel? Looks great.
the errors showing up on excel 16 seem to relate to privacy settings. here are the instructions to check and reset your privacy. Before you do, you will be connecting to a public API from coingecko to capture the current pricing. No information is sent out from your workbook or shared with anyone else, unless you do so directly by sharing your workbook with others.
Let me know if this works as it has done for other.
Set privacy levels for a data source
Important Although a restrictive isolation level blocks information from being exchanged between data sources, it may reduce functionality and impact performance.
To display the Data Source Settings dialog box, do one of the following:
Power Query Editor Select File > Options and Settings > Data Source Settings.
Excel Select Data > Get Data > Data Source Settings.
Select Edit Permissions. The Edit Permissions dialog box appears.
Under Privacy Level, select an option from the drop-down list:
None There are no privacy settings. Be careful setting this option. Make sure that privacy regulations are otherwise maintained. You might use this privacy setting in a controlled development environment for testing and performance reasons.
Private Contains sensitive or confidential information, and the visibility of the data source may be restricted to authorized users. It is completely isolated from other data sources. Examples include Facebook data, a text file containing stock awards, or a workbook containing an employee review.
Organizational Limits the visibility of a data source to a trusted group of people. It is isolated from all Public data sources, but is visible to other Organizational data sources. A common example is a Microsoft Word document on an intranet SharePoint site with permissions enabled for a trusted group.
Public Gives everyone visibility to the data. Only files, internet data sources, or workbook data can be marked Public. Examples include data from a Wikipedia page, or a local file containing data copied from a public web page.

What comes in the column sell point? I put numbers but gives error. Is it for sell price?
Sell point is a drop down, these relate to the sales points you set up in the take profits strategy. Once the strategy is set up, select the take profits step you want, and it will pull in the number of coins to sell, You then enter the total selling price
