After a lot of problems with binance api import in spreadsheets. This is the best solution! Used the same method but with Binance. And works perfect!

Regarding exchange data, I've stumbled upon an exchange that wants to receive an encrypted header, so basic excel won't do. I guess I'll have to dig into VBA to do this.

@@PaulaWeb3andCrypto oh, i am rather new to excel. the most complicated thing i did with power query was combining a few other queries & tables. :D
i am not aware of power querys possibilities with regards to sending API requests with encrypted headers. :O

Excellent video which has allowed me to create a very effective live Crypto tracking tool. One question - what's the most easiest way of adding a ticker symbol to the first query (say you want to add another coin holdings), without having to recreate the whole table again?

Hi Paula! No obligation for you to answer this and you'd probably need more information anyway but when I hit enter (after adding the URL and relevant header info to the web data) power query looks like it's launching but all that shows is an entirely transparent box with no distinguishable text or data inside. Unlikely you've seen this before but I thought I'd mention it incase you had a fix.
As a side note, I actually use powerbi almost every day at work so I'm a little confused :D

The best excel crypto drawing video I've ever watched. Others are normal on the web, but the "API" offers features with a full range of professional options. I think the API we got with our coinmarketcap site membership offers limited withdrawals. Ex. Can you recommend an unlimited api source that I can get an update in 5 minutes? Health for your labor. Hi Paula, is there a way to lock the rows of the cells?
When I refresh the chart, some coins move up and down, depending on increase in market cap, which ruins my chart that I link the data to.
I either need a way to make the chart not move (not in order of market cap) or make it so my linked cells move with the moves in rank, but not sure how

I do have 2 questions if thats OK,
1. When I get the live data and put it into excel some coins are shifting rows after a while, is there a way to stop this?
For example if I am trying to compare purchase cost vs current value for BTC I want link the live BTC quote from the API sheet to my dashboard sheet (eg Dashboard sheet D7 = API sheet C4) when it is first linked it works a treat but after the row shifts it shows values for the wrong coin. In this example API sheet C4 is no longer the quote for BTC it is a different coin say BCH
My assumption is that its because when the data is refreshed the top 100 come back in an updated order.
Url I have been using: *pro-api.coinmarketcap.com/v1/cryptocurrency/listings/latest?convert=GBP
2. Is there a way to link more than one command on the URL?
Part of my trying to solve problem number 1 was to use the manual input of the coins like you showed on the initial part of the video e.g. (pro-api.coinmarketcap.com/v1/cryptocurrency/quotes/latest?symbol=BTC,ETH,ADA)
Only problem with this is that it comes back un USD not GBP
I tried to add the convert function but it just comes up with an error (pro-api.coinmarketcap.com/v1/cryptocurrency/quotes/latest?symbol=BTC,ETH,ADA?convert=gbp)
Would either of these solve my problem?

Can you do this on Macs? Unfortunately Macs don't have the connect from web feature and can't seem to link the api :(
use google sheets. The process is gonna be slightly different so look for tutorials on how to link APIs with google sheets

Hi. How do get the prices to display in GBP (British pound sterling) instead of USD (US dollars)?
You need to create an API end point using CONVERT=GBP however, there seems to be some restrictions on this using the free API which is so annoying. To overcome this, I would just pull in the GBP/USD exchange rate using the stock data types in excel and use this in a formula to make your conversion. you can find out more about these data types here ruclips.net/video/G6RGNthmw1I/видео.html. Or you could pull in the exch. rate from other sources

there is something on the page number on the API, although I think with the free one we don't have access. If you check the API documentation you should be able to find it
Really excellent tutorial. I have completed my first API query :) Just a little snag. The values such as price, % changes columns, and 24 h volume have different values than Coinmarketcap website. Not a rounding error since the differences are larger than that. For example, on ETH the % change 1h on query = -1.95% but webpage shows 0.34%. Any ideas please? Thank you

You left out a step after entering the API key. Another dialog box appears asking to "Select which level to apply these settings to..." (using Excel 365).

Hi Paula, I'm using Excel 365 on a MAC. It doesn't give me an option to get data, FROM WEB. How do I enter my API header, Key, etc? The only Get Data options that are available are: from HTML,Text, SQl, Database? Apple Mac version on Excel 365 has slightly different menu options
I have a crypto (CELO) in my portfolio that has just dropped out of the top 100. Yesterday it was jumping back and forth between #100 and #101. Is there are way to have more than the top 100 in my query? I have found that there is a "limit" parameter that can be used to specify the number of records to pull. Can I put this parameter and the convert parameter in the same query? If so, I am not getting the correct syntax - I am getting an error back when submitting the query.

Thank you for this video. Any idea what I would do if two tokens have the same symbol. i.e TRADE. I'm after PolyTrade, however the api pulls in data from Unitrade. not sure what you are trying to do, but it sounds like you need a lookup function
