    A big thumbs up from me. Your passion and dedication to what you love is very well portrayed in your videos. The walking scene at the start was so well done, loved it👍. A lot of time away from the actual hunt goes into making these videos, something majority don't see. So I for one really appreciate the end product we all get to see. Not much in life is free but RUclips is pretty close to it. So thanks again for going the extra mile. I also get a laugh seeing you get the mandatory "thumbs down". Maybe they just need a hug, some loving, some chocolate or my favourite, M&M's🤣😂😂. If that doesn't work they can always dial a friend, good luck with that😂😂😂😊. Keep up the good work👍👍👍

      Why do you wear a red hat in the bush ??

    • @IntotheMountains
      @IntotheMountains  4 года назад +1

      Pat James might look a little red in the camera Pat but it’s a very bright orange. Most hunters will have some blaze orange on them so other hunters can see them easily. It’s coming from a safety aspect as we all share the public space and helps other hunters identify or distinguish us from potential game. 👍🏾

      Cheers Paul, however the last shot wasn’t with a drone... 🧐 I wish I could pilot one that well and get the audio over the buzz of the drone but they need to come a long in tech still. This was done with a bit of custom camera magic 👌🏽

      Paul Brown that’s the feel I was going for. • @IntotheMountains
      @IntotheMountains  4 года назад

      Cheers Luke, glad you found a few pointers in there. In winter time I often leave my quarters exposed with no problems for the initial hang, I’d then cover them once they relax. There was only the odd fly about and temps really low. The bottom half inch or so I trim off for my dogs at home and the fur protects the rest. 👍

      Your spot on Dave, I was very surprised to catch up with him there. I spent a heap of time glassing the hill above that spot before walking him up thinking he’d head high and I might spot him going up. He was extremely old with very poor condition. No teeth so I suspect he struggled to get enough nutrients. I’d say he wouldn’t have made it through the summer. It was a first for me seeing a deer under pressure do that. I looked him all over for a wound or bad feet, even the organs looked normal. They are tuff buggers hey

    Hi Daz,
    I'm interested in harvesting wild deer (in QLD) and I was hoping you could share a little bit of info on how you learn whats safe to eat, how to identify signs of disease or illness and the process you follow. If you have some books or videos that you could recommend on the topic that would be great!
    Cheers,
    Peter

    • @IntotheMountains
      @IntotheMountains  4 года назад +1

      Thanks Leon, I haven’t been back to confirm this year as it’s very limited access. The charts aren’t always right but if they are accurate it looks to be toasted. Deer are resilient creatures and I’d like to stay positive, I don’t think it would take long for them to repopulate the area 👍

      Into the Mountains ah damn that sucks, looked to be perfect country but as you said I’m sure they’ll bounce back soon. About 85% of spots in east Gippsland has been raised as well but some areas definitely needed it, not as hot as it was obvious it it’ll be interesting to see what it looks like in a few months!

    Great video. Would u ever try calling? Is that only during mating? Or an American thing. Keep it up. Subscribed and waiting for the next

    • @IntotheMountains
      @IntotheMountains  4 года назад +1

      Calling really depends on the species. Ive tried with inconsistent results calling sambar over the years. They aren't considered a calling deer so that can make it challenging to find them. We have great success on the Red and Fallow deer vocally. Daz

      Hey Richard, sorry mate I led you astray there, I’d already been glassing that spot for a while and consequently ranged it (just a habit) before I started talking to you on the camera. You do need a form of rangefinder to use that feature accurately 👍

      @@IntotheMountains you too mate. We got a heap of spots onto of a few spurs hear on the property and nice bulldozer tracks to the top so it's gonna be easy going without the black berries lmfao. I dunno if it me or sheer luck on seeing a few but do you see alot of sambar hanging around new tracks ect. I've seen a heap hanging around them its almost like they are attracted to all the shit being ripped up and alot of stags rolling and ripping up on the fresh dirt track too. The fresh green stuff hasn't come up so it's not that attracting em. Have u seen this before?

    • @IntotheMountains
      @IntotheMountains  4 года назад +1

      Zac Roberts yep spot on. Deer will readily be attracted to turned over soil. Logging coops, land slides, graded tracks, tilled paddocks will attract lots of macro pods as well as bovines. I’ve used this technique many times to attract deer to an area on private land to photograph. Take a pic or shovel ona well used game trail. Turn over a section of trail and put a camera over it. You’ll see good results of interest on that spot. I’ve even had deer scrape than spot so hard they ended up creating a wallow from it👍
