I've been using Uni-ball pens for over 30 years. Back then in the US they were labeled as Eberhard-Faber, then later Sanford, and now Newell/Rubbermaid. I originally used them because the micro point was excellent for filling in dental insurance forms. And every patient who wrote with the pen remarked on how smooth it wrote. Although I have recently gotten into fountain pens, they are hardly foolproof, and I always have my trusty Uni-ball as a backup.-
@@Walii1404 There's no real way to determine that. It depends on how much you write. I guess mine lasted a month or two. I still stand by my review, but I have moved on to gel pens, specifically the Zebra Sarasa Clip 0.7. The ink is waterproof on paper, yet removes easily from the skin. And it flows even more smoothly than the Uni-Ball. It can be purchased on Amazon.
I can really see why you like uni-ball so much. The ink is consistent and smooth. They offer a variety of tip and line sizes and the ink is true black. I prefer for ink to be true black. There are some pens like Prismacolors which show up as more of a charcoal gray. It's my understanding that uni-ball Super Ink was designed to counter check and document washing. Little did Mitsubishi pencil know that they were creating a fantastic art tool as well! (°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ᴗ°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ )
Thank you - you're a star! Everything I needed to know. I was wondering if the Eye was an equivalent to the Uniball Vision and Uniball UK said not, but you're an artist who uses it so having seen your demo I am now convinced you are correct.
I grew up drawing with only pilot and uniball, I tried other "drawing pens" but they weren't for me, I have some and use them sometimes but I'll always prefer the pilots and uniballs. Art stores used to sell them when I was younger but all they sell now is felt tip fine liners.
I was able to get the fine one on offer when I made an art pen order from a site here in the UK and was glad I didn't pay full price for it. Personally I find that it bleeds a lot when I draw. I have much more success with Muji gel pens. My fave is the 0.38 in black for drawing.
Just started using the uniball rollerballs. I bought both eye-micro (0.5 mm) and eye-fine (0.7 mm). Although, the micro is great for handwriting when writing slow but it is awful when writing fast. I prefer to use and will use the eye-fine for my CAIE exams. I need a faster pace to write and understandable handwriting whether it is good or bad. Really recommend the Uniball eye-fine UB-157.
Great video. I know this is Tommy Kanes favorite sketching pen. It's weird how the middle size is a needle and .38 has a tip shape more similar to the .7. Lastly, with these pens, the longer you wait before water color the better.
I ordered a 10 pack of micros(0.5) today, let's hope they're good!😁 If anyone is curious, it cost me about $11 for 10 and shipping added about $2 (amazon)
I love the fine pens, been using them since secondary school, chewed through a bunch of them in my GCSEs. In working life I always have one on me, of course people keep stealing them. But hey they're cheap enough I don't care
I got this pen, and the only thing that I dislike about it is that it is quite 'rough' on downward strokes. I don't know what is causing this, but there is a slight, but noticeable difference in the feedback.
That was very helpful, because I need such waterproff pen. Althought I had the simillar problem like Nichole from previous comments, the ink in my uniball pen which I had for some time always smeard whan I applied liquid on it. But it might be a different type of uniball, I must try out the ones that you recomend.
I have a Uniball vision and it is not waterproof. I waited about 3 minutes and it still smeared, I applied heat with heat gun, still smeared. The pen does say Uniball Vision Elite. Maybe this one is not waterproof?
in some countries, the uniball vision elite used to not be waterproof. I see some stores where I am living (Northern United States) that sell both the waterproof uniball vision elite AND the non-waterproof, older versions at a slightly lower price. I have also bought uniball vision and signo pens here and for some reason, I find many issues. If you're living in America or somewhere nearby, maybe the best bet for you would be to get the Uniball Jetstream or Gel Impact, I think it is called. I find those to the the smoothest of the newer pens sold in this country.
I, personally, like the 0.5 non-needle version the best. I tend to push pretty hard (use a fair amount of pressure) when I write and the "needle" version consistently skipped while writing/drawing. Anyone else find this?
I think there is maybe an inconsistency with Uniball's quality from country to country. I have some pens from two or three years ago that are uniball that worked wonderfully. They were smooth and had no issues. However, I've bought the uniball signo gel stick, vision elite, and jetstream. For the entire box of 12 signo pens, there were many skipping problens and it only worked if you wrote with much pressure. Also, the ink was not very dark, almost a medium gray. For the Vision, I found that all 12 of them felt almost scratchy. It seemed like the area covering the rollerball was covering too much of it. The pen also often skipped and had inconsistent saturation of ink as I was writing. This was an issue if the pen was held even at the slightest angle, but writing or drawing while holding it completely vertically was very smooth. I just bought the jetstream and have not yet had any issues. I bought a pack of three. I've been tempted to get the uniball air, but I'm worried that I will run into these issues. I tried a pilot precise v5 so maybe I will like the uniball vision needle
+Rebecca Nelson That's weird. I thought these pens are all made in Japan then shipped to other countries. The quality should not be so inconsistent. Hmmmmm
+Teoh Yi Chie Yeah, I'm not really sure... I hope I am just unlucky, but when I look at reviews on amazon for the Signo Gel Stick (07) a handful of them say that they had the same issues I did.
