DayZ is one of the greatest video games ever made, but it is also probably THE MOST FRUSTRATING when you first start to play it.
With this beginners guide tutorial video hopefully I'll introduce you to enough of the basic controls, concepts & commands to get you through your first hour, so you can then go on to really find out what DayZ is all about!
Aimed primarily at new console players on Xbox & PlayStation, the ideas can be applied to PC too, as I cover what your survival priorities should be, what you should look for first, what loot is important, how to open cans of food, how to load guns, what's the better clothing, and what type of items spawn where!

When bandages get damaged, they lose the sterile nature. Gunshots, melee damage, and zombie strikes will do this.
I bought this game like a year ago, got into it, tried to understand anything, ran around for 4 hours, died due to dehydration, quit, and deleted the game, now I'll try again, god, give me patience for this time)

Great video! Maybe you could make a series of going more in depth about different topics you covered here with step by step guides for people who dont know how to gather sticks or dont know how to loot.

Love that first bit; This vid is get you through that first hour yes please! I'm yet to get past 30 mins let alone fully kitted with useful items. Here I am mate I bought it today.
I want to know does everyone start off thinking like wtf is this game, why not make it easier, why is there no beds, just the inventory is so much work, you need to have a genius level IQ to be able to figure out how to reload a gun, I’m worried I’m gonna put all this work and time into learning the game and end up not liking it

As someone new to playing thanks for sharing. Have just found the community servers and have finally survived for a decent period of time. Suggest adding a keyboard and mouse for xbox is a game changer for inventory control etc for console. New subscriber today

I'd say interact with other players in the beginning since if they kill you all you lose is a bandage, some fruit, and a glowstick. Near the end they will just kill you.
I switched to the Alternate Control Scheme quite a while ago…it just feels quite a bit easier to use. It’s still clunky and wonky, but maybe a bit less clunky and wonky…😉👍

How do traders work on console? I'm on a server that says it has traders but I have no idea where they are or how they work?
Great tutorial but I keep getting spawned in places that have already been looted, even when I tried a very low lobby (4/60) by the time I've got to houses, there's already the infected there and pouncing on me, causing me to take damage straight away and lose health as well as me already lost all my food health.
So far, everywhere I go after spawn, literally, everything is already looted. I can't find food or water (food is my main issue).😢
How do you find your way around mann?

Okay so once you get everything you need to survive, how do you save your items? Or do you have to start with nothing every time you play?
If you stay on the official servers, you will log out each time you play & keep everything you have on your player. You can change servers & keep everything but only if you stay within the official servers. If you play on an official server, grab some loot & then swap to a community server then you will have to start again.
If you are playing on console, it is almost ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED that you connect and use a mouse and keyboard.
Can you repair guns/bats and mags
Guns yes, bats and mags, no.
I was hoping for advice for food and drink but too vague on throat and too much on clunky interface. Where’s the food and drink?
Think of the player base if dayz Added a beginner server or simply added a mode. That would make the game more easy. I sing countless people leave because of the difficulty. If you simply added a easier server with more loot, you would have. Thousands and thousands of new players consist the players. It's like the makers don't use their brain.
Is there a map where everything’s in English, like a Day Z America?

Whats the point? I get it you can have an adventure, get killed by zeds, another player. the elements, hunger, thirst, illness, then respawn and try again. rinse repeat. Kind of pointless.
Give it a chance, and you may get addicted....

You also said that you 'get it', in terms of having an adventure... so how would the game be pointless? lol
It's a survival Sim. The point is to survive as long as possible. The goal here isn't to win, its to try not to die but knowing eventually you will. It's honestly not that different from your real life. You live and try to survive as long as possible even knowing it will indeed end eventually. There is no winning in the end.
😊, it's annoying when you customize your player. There's like 3 white guys then 10 black guys and 10 Asians.
Come on, dude, stealth kills in real game are completely impossible. Don't even mention that when you can't even do it in a real game
