I’m no sniper but Marine Corps trained and it works. BRASSF. Breathe, Relax, Aim, Squeeze, Shoot, Follow Thru. I promise Houston if you follow this, especially squeeze and realizing your shot by bringing yourself naturally to the point you squeezed off a round and your original sight picture, you will hit what you’re aiming at if your rifle is true. Love you lil’ bro and Arms Family. Take this one on the cheek on the way to understanding. I’d be privileged to shoot rounds down range with you and coach off camera. God Bless.

Awe, Houston, you are so adorable! I’m so glad you’re making memories with your Dad. I didn’t start hunting until I was in my 30's. After I married, my husband taught me to hunt. I hunted every season for a little over 30 years. I’m in my 70’s now and we no longer hunt due to health reasons. I enjoyed going hunting with you in this video. The sounds and whispers brought back so many fond memories. Just remember, if taking the safety off, and aiming at a deer no longer gets your adrenaline up, then it’s time to stop hunting. Here’s to many more decades of hunting and teaching your own kids and grandkids to hunt❣️

Daniel, I watch all of these videos and the things your children learn and have the opportunity for are amazing. In watching, it brings me to tears thinking about what my life would have been like if I'd have had similar opportunities. I never knew nor had any of these chances in growing up. I was 9 when I lost my dad of 72. My Mom was an amazing woman, who I loved dearly, she gave me a wonderful life but these types of opportunities just weren't there. You and DJ are are truly amazing parents, all three will grow even more aware of that with every year that passes.

  • @helenscott8202
    @helenscott8202 3 года назад +1

You taught some real lessons this year: there are times you are consumed with hunting fever and still have to wait on the shot; sometimes there are too many deer to take a shot; sometimes the deer just doesn’t go down and gets away after being shot. These are hard, necessary lessons. Glad you showed them. The adults trying to teach their kids can show them to their kids, too.

  • @DKFamilyadventures

Daniel I took my son on his first ever deer hunt this year. I did my best to film his hunt so we can remember it. He was unsuccessful this youth season. He took a shot and missed a buck of a lifetime. It was amazing to see how he responded. Similar to Huston my son was banging his head on a tree all afternoon.

He is an awesome boy lucky enough to enjoy an amazing childhood. 👍

Hey Houston, I want to thank you and your dad for sharing this experience with all us. It is a tuff one to swallow, but don’t fret. You’ll nail a buck soon enough, I’ll be praying for ya. I always wished I could of gone hunting, but I wasn’t blessed with a real dad and there were no other father figured in my life to fill in that void of not having a dad. You’re a very lucky boy to have such a wonderful family with a dad that has the time and knowledge to pass down to his son. Not all hunters have good hunting and teaching skills. But your dad is in the straight and narrow in handing down those excellent hunting skills to you and your sister. You’re tough Houston and you will bag that 🦌 deer, no doubt about that. Prayers and Blessings to everyone in the Arms Family.

It’s OK Houston & Emmalee!!! I’ve been hunting for 50 years and I’ve done ✅ the exact same 2 things you kids have done!
(#1) I’ve hit a small sapling tree I couldn’t see in the scope that was in the line of my bullet’s travel path and deflected my shot (Totally Missed) Emmalee.
(#2) I’ve also made a non lethal shot on a huge buck 🦌 and couldn’t find it ( & It lived on) Houston.
Just remember these things happen to every single person who hunts. So anyone who says they’ve never made a hunting mistake on a animal they’ve hunted, is either..... Not being truthful or it just hasn’t happened to them “YET”...... BUT IT WILL.
Both of you kids are awesome 👏 and you’re Truly Blessed & Have a lot to be thankful for. Ur Dad is a Awesome man of God and he’s a great Dad. U two Kids can Thank God for blessing U to not only be able to go hunting.....But to have a wonderful Patient Dad who spends time with his kids and teaches U and makes memories that will last a lifetime.
God has Truly Blessed You Emmalee and Houston and your best days are yet to come !!!!!
    God Bless you Arms Family.

Houston you are a remarkable young man . It took courage to tell us your story . Stuff like that happens alot . But one of the things I was taught about shooting is try not to wear gloves , especially on your trigger finger . And like your Dad said breath . I used too practice my breathing alot before hunting season . Always make sure the gun is unloaded , I removed the bolt . Once you master breathing while shooting you will almost never miss . Good luck .
And thank you for sharing ...

Well now there young Mr Houston, the deer hunt can be a time of great excitement no matter the time of the year. Soon if allowed down your way you could be back in the field during the full deer season. Perhaps if your schedule allows from time to time, find a quiet place out in your door yard or maybe even if your Daniel isnt too busy, go and sit in your little cubby hut. Just imagine the moments as your saw the deer and decided you wanted the deer. Just hold your thoughts in your mind and allow your breathing to deepen and soften. That is something your Daniel may know about to help you along with. Maybe even your sister Tent Slayer could help or even join in too. Stay Safe and Be Patient in the field...

I love a 243. That’s my rifle of choice, in particularly my granddaddy’s rifle.

Houston, you did your best. Each season you'll learn something new. Life Lessons are sure hard on the heart. Next time you two!

I love this and can’t wait to take my own daughter hunting. You did great Houston, don’t let the “loss” get you down! I’m a grown woman and still get buck fever so you aren’t alone!

That buck should be named Lucky! Great job to the kids for trying. Many people aren't even going out in the morning.

My son at 39 got buck fever bad, shot low, and hit him just above the kneecap. He tracked the buck for 2 days to no avail. Low and behold the big buck survived and lived a full life here by our home on the East Fork of the Salmon River. That bucks leg healed at an angle and he had a crazy gait but was around here for years after that.

I live in Bella Vista Arkansas and have a 3 legged deer that comes for corn almost every night. She will stand out back until we come give her corn. We were surprised this spring with her showing up with a baby. She would leave it in our back yard when she would go off. I have never been hunting but have always lived where it was a huge sport. I’m sorry Houston did not get the buck but as you said it’s a good life lesson that just because you want something it doesn’t always happen. I love your videos and watch everyday.
