My Mom did daycare in her home for more than 32 years. She always told me that babies who slept with their hands up by their heads, like Billy was doing in your opening shots, were incredibly healthy. I have no idea if that’s true or a wives tale, but my heart melted when I saw him sleeping like that. I lost my Mom just over two years ago. Thank you for the memory.
If you are putting a door into the living room you want the light switch on the side without the hinges. You don’t want to walk into the room and have to close the door to turn the lights on! Crispy bacon is the best no floppy bacon!
Allie, a the rule of thumb is: when you stay up with the baby at night, you also take naps in the day when the baby naps. Enjoy being a mother and enjoy a nap!
Trent is definitely a builder . . I was a framing carpenter for seven years and I couldn't plumb or do electrical or drive heavy machinery . . he's a "Trent of all Trades"
This is the very best channel. Today, for music, we got bluegrass, funk, country, rock, jazz… Two adorable children… A whole bunch of people that are all nice enough to be my best friends… A story that took me half way around the world, built a family, and a sprawling dream house in the mountains… And this story will never end!…………😊…………………………..
You should get a piece of lumber and attach it to the wall to mark the boys height. When my daughter sold their house they were so sad to leave that behind. Her kids were almost grown but that was always a regret. When they moved in they didn’t anticipate ever moving.
Well, because in this video it has been confirmed that Trent is "a builder" . . . he could certainly remove and replace that piece of door trim if and when they ever sell this home.
Trent reminds me so much of my father - an electrician one minute, a plumber the next, then a roofer, then a motor mechanic, then a plasterer, a tiler, then a carpenter. It's a fascinating life as a child, to watch all those trades (and more) in one person - daily. Very exciting actually and comforting to know your father can fix anything. (But very hard to find a husband with the same abilities.)❤
😂 my daughter got me a mug, "if Dad can't fix it we are all screwed" It's not hard to do all that stuff, you just have to think it's important enough to bother. Most guys would rather put all kinds of brain resources into memorizing football stats so they can appear "learned" with their other narrowly skilled friends. I teach my daughter to do useful stuff and because her husband won't learn to be handy she assigns him duties like cleaning and organizing and shuttling the kids to and from games and school, etc. Almost a role reversal, at least in part. He still brings the paychecks. But of course I have to fix, maintain, and build everything. So I go help her out while I still can.
@elgringoec That's great. My father helped me out for quite a few years after marriage, but I tended to take over then as he had taught me to do so many things. He should have had a son. I renovated every house I owned. And some I didn't. Loved it. Still try at 77 l, but it's a lot harder now.
@my2cworth4U Do what you can! Harder doesn't mean a need to give up. Adjust pace. I have a son also. My kids are super capable; sure I'm more knowledgeable over a wider range of trades but their interests also go places mine don't. But we do all we can to help our kids and grandkids get ahead.
When my husband and I bought our first and only home,it was only 690 square feet. Some years past and we added an 18×20 room on. The contractor finished all of his rough in on Christmas eve day. That evening we put a heater out there to warm it up and we set up the Christmas tree, out our couch and chairs out and enjoyholidayChristmas season. After the holidays were cover,we spent everything evening and weekend working on that rooms, electrial, heating and cooling, insulation, drywall, paint and flooring. That will be a Christmas I'll never forget!!!
Hey Allie, as a Mum of 5 (now adult) children, as an ex Nursing Mother's Counselor (In Australia), and a retired nurse, I can say that it's normal for Billy to go through periods of change in routine. Some people suggest adding some solid food. That's not my suggestion if you wish to keep fully breast feeding for a long period. Once you start to introduce other foods you have started the weaning process. Obviously, that's fine if that's what you want to do. If you don't though, you can try feeding a bit more often during his wake times, this will help to increase your milk supply (supply and demand - the more demand, the more milk you will make). Again, this is normal to go through adjustment periods especially in the first 6-9 months. It's tough having to get through the lack of sleep issues. I ended up doing 12 years of that, so I certainly understand. You are doing a phenomenal job as a Mum and it's great you have some help from Jennifer. Sending hugs. 🤗
I would be giving Billy a little Rice cereal for his last feeding, either in his bottle or feeding him some. I would also be prepared with some prune juice incase he gets constipated but if you make it runny enough he should be fine. Babies are all different and he might need that extra.
Ali, you should sleep when Billy sleeps. If he takes a nap you should take a nap. If Billy doesn’t sleep at night, you should let him stay in his crib. You can let him fuss. Begin with 5 minutes and increase to 15. Also, if you are drinking coffee then he will also get the stimulant, too. Good luck.
You're definitely right about the coffee! Unless they've changed their opinion, rule #1, while nursing is NO caffeine. I bet that's a lot of why he's not sleeping much.
What will you do with the house in the valley? Will you decorate both homes for Christmas? You’re so lucky. It’s such a young age to have two homes. You guys work hard. You deserve it.
Allie, my middle kid sleep for 45 minutes, was up for 4hours round the clock till he was three. It was hell on earth but we both survived. You are worked so hard. Thanks for the footage!
Thank you Leo for singing happy birthday 🎂 to me today. You are the only one on this earth 🌎 to acknowledge my birthday today, even though you don't know I am 65 today. 🎉❤😊
Trent, I used to love crispy bacon, but my husband loves it very limp. Now I have been transformed, like it limp. And the comment that those paper airplanes are like Boeing was funny!!
I think your skills have become better, as you have been working on the addition. So Grasshopper, you have come a long from your humble beginnings to where you are now. Looking good. Billy is a blessing to your family. Cutie as a button. Thank you for your videos.
Ali you're going to have to pinch that baby and make it cry cuz I don't think I've ever heard Billy cry; he's such a good boy. It was nice seeing the dogs today. ❤
The morning routine today, reminded me of the Van Day mornings. Somehow, watching a "Slow Living" moment brings great inner joy and peace. I, too, was having my coffee and breakfast. ...watching the birds and squirrels outside with my kitties inside. Just curating space to take in deep breath work; watch something encouraging; read a devotional---to set the day's start with good intentions!❤
Good morning folks! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving ❤ On my hallway light switch, it’s on the right side on my way to my bedroom but my left side going to my living room 😉👊🏼
I am a great grandmother and I’ve kept track of grandkids growth on the inside of a closet door using a line of painters tape for each child. I just remeasured the two great grand kids at their instance. Even the older grandkids enjoy looking at their increase in heights.
I love "crispy" bacon too! The family likes it "not so crispy". They make fun of me with a "crunching sound".😁 I loved watching Leeka having fun in the snow.❤ I hope Billy can get a good sleep schedule. My daughter never slept either. I was a walking zombie for the first year of her life and when she was a little older, her naps lasted about 15 minutes and then no nap at all. Other kids were napping 3 hours, not my girl. It can be exhausting, but a beautiful blessing at the same time. That time passes by so quickly and all the sudden they are 20! 😊
Four Months old? My Full-sized babies took 2-3 naps a day at that age not 4. He is going to change up your schedule now, and his. This happened with all 3 of my littles. Time to put him in a walker/excer-saucer so that he starts to tire himself out at night time.
What a Epic Moment Allie seeing Trent n Baby Billy ❤ both on their back sleeping 😊 little Leo is growing! I would be looking everywhere if I her a animal.squeak in my house 😮stay warm yall
I slept in my crib until I was 5. I was very petite, but knew the next move was sleeping with my sister. Was not ideal. Billy is the most chill baby I have witnessed in a very long time. You so got lucky on him, cute, sweet disposition and I do not remember hearing him cry. In a few years it will be interesting to see the interaction between the boys.
Sleeping Billy in the opening scene he was SO angelic! 🫢😊 Leo was incredibly cute being on his toes!! 😆 Allie no sleep for the wicked?? 🤩 Light switches are usually opposite door hinge for obvious reasons?🤔 ❤
Me and my house ALL go for crispy bacon..and I'm left handed, but I live in a house with switches on no particular side, so no matter which side coming thru a doorway, you get used to the location and use them as is, no big deal. With lights so high, I hope Trent remembered to install some electrical outlets in the floor for furniture that will NOT be against the walls. The house is coming together beautifully. THANKS for sharing.
We had sounds like chirps and scratching in our attic wall that turned out to be bats. We saw them at Twilight one evening flying out. Hopefully, you don't have them like we did.
In case you decide to put a barn door between the kitchen and the new lounge I would have put the light switches on the left hand side. Also always remember "Happy Wife Happy Life!" Crispy bacon ALWAYS!😊 I still think Allie's Mom shines on through Billie every time we see him 🥰
Hello!!! I don't know if you will see this Allie, but here goes... Next time you want to make bacon try this. Line a cookie sheet with foil. Set oven to 400. Line the pan with desired amount of strips. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes. Check periodically since all ovens may be different. Perfect bacon, no mess, no fuss, and way less clean up. I have shared this with lots of family and friends. As far as I know they ALL do it this way now. Your Welcome..... Hope you see this post. ❤❤❤❤
We took advantage of the dog food promotion and ordered for the next month supplies. Now we are off to the pet shop to look at some potential dogs to buy. So nice to see just how much your dogs are part of the family.
Our Bradford Rudolph Christmas Village has been up since last Christmas. I paid enough for the Village Houses etc. and figured I could keep them up rather than storing in the basement.
15:37 Personally, I would keep the big wall, going up the steps, clear of anything that will catch all the furniture, mattresses and clothes baskets from getting snagged on it. I'm right handed too!😂
Trent was right on the light switch, the right side is the funk’s way side because the larger wall calls your eye to the switch faster then it being on the smaller wall with a 90 degree wall off it. Also the ceiling trim should be minimal so that your eye isn’t drawn to the trim and is drawn to the beauty of the tongue and groove. Base/ bottom trim should always be the beefier trim getting smaller as you look upwards. With the right color in decor your addition is going to be fabulous!
The kids are getting so big and cuter and the house in the mountains is coming together and before you know it you will be using this as living space … it is going to be beautiful ❤️❤️🤗🤗🙏🙏
Melt in your mouth crispy bacon gets my vote! The living room looks great with the wood ceiling! Billy and Leo can’t be cuter! 🤣🤣. Allie and her wreath!! That was sweet for Trent to fix Allie a coffee because “she’s a diva”! We can all use that extra shot of energy! It will be so nice when you can finally move in! Think of all the work that’s been done….WOW!! Trent deserves his title of builder….and so do Branden and Grayson!! You have all done stellar work! Love from Pennsylvania 💕🌷🐻
I don't eat bacon anymore, but when I was at a restaurant, I would always tell them to "BURN it." I didn't actually want burnt bacon, but if I didn't say that, I ALWAYS got it back with chewy bits that I couldn't chew and would wind up spitting out -- what a loss!! Glad you realized (for next time) that you can just keep cooking yours until it's how you want it. LOL!! You guys are so funny! Also, little Billy is looking JUST like Leo and it's the cutest, cutest, most precious! Brothers! Gotta love it!
for Bacon preheat oven to 450 Take a big cookie sheet use cooking spray spray pan place Bacon and put on cookie sheet for crispy Bacon if it is thin 11 minutes if thick 15 minutes when done place on paper towel absorb the grease, It is yummy and crispy
Good morning! I used to sleep extremely well and deeply until I had multiple hospitalizations in 2010-2015 and I developed insomnia as a result. I'm lucky to sleep2-3 hours before waking up. If I hear anything I wake up and I rarely can go back to sleep. I have earplugs and a fan that help to block the noise which have helped a lot. The sunlight on Leo's hair really brought out the red tint in his hair. It will be interesting to see how it changes over the years. I learned something this weekend that might interest you and Trent. Apparently wasps and hornets are attracted to the smell of propane which was why they were going crazy to get into the vent and pipes going to the furnace and even the vent for the stove and oven and anything else that is run off the propane.
Guys , Besides getting your house build completed, another great gift is giving yourself time for sleep quality. Anyway you can plan for it. Be Well ! Stay Healthy !🙏🙏
When you open the door, a crack you can reach in and turn on the light so you put it on the side with the door handle, that way you can turn the light on before you go in so you don’t trip on things.
16:55 that is an inward opening LH door, so the switch has to be on the right. Also, you're looking into the room to your right, so the switch has to be on the right 😉
That is only an opening from a hallway into the room. There will be no door. That is what started the whole question of which side, as if there was a door they would obviously put it on the correct side, but without a door, there is a choice.
Good to see you guys back in the house. Was just thinking about. When you moved up there in the camper. Man its come a long ways. Thanks for sharing. Much love. God Bless

@my2cworth4U Aw, don't devalue yourself! Girl or boy, you inherited your dad's abilities. He didn't need a son, he had you to carry on his skills!
So glad that final tub pipe sat correctly. Building a house is a chore, correcting mistakes is a bore. Doing it right is a SCORE!
No he did it wrong...the pipe to use goes over the OUTSIDE of the floor mount... not the inside!

I'm with you Allie. Crispy bacon all the way!
Absolutely... Crispy Crispy Bacooooon ...
My favorite way to cook crispy bacon is in the air fryer on 400 degrees for 8 minutes! Perfecto!
Me too. I can’t eat limp bacon
That ceiling is GORGEOUS! Nice choice!
It is so hard to imagine that Leo used to be that little. I agree with Allie, bacon should be crispy!😊

Trent & Allie, count yourselves BLESSED to have such an AMAZING crew..... Brandon, Grayson and Jennifer.
Leo & Billy are absolutely thriving❤
60 years later and I still remember cooking with my mom, the memories that remain are priceless
Billy’s face is so expressive. He is getting bigger and soon he will be rolling over.
Billy is so adorable sleeping in the bed with his hands up by his head. Leo is getting so big. Love his energy.
I would be giving Billy a little Rice cereal for his last feeding, either in his bottle or feeding him some. I would also be prepared with some prune juice incase he gets constipated but if you make it runny enough he should be fine. Babies are all different and he might need that extra.
Billy is stealing the show right now - super sweet ❤
Sorry Trent. I’m with Allie in the crispy bacon camp.
I like my bacon crispy also.

Bacon; crispy not burnt
Just this side of burnt for me! The ceilings look great. Leo's speech is getting better each week.

Ali, you should sleep when Billy sleeps. If he takes a nap you should take a nap. If Billy doesn’t sleep at night, you should let him stay in his crib. You can let him fuss.
Trent, your hair looks great!!! It suits you well!!!😊 The boys are beautiful ❤️...😊

Oh I’m with you allie definitely crispy anything else isn’t cooked 😂 sending love from uk
That’s awesome that Allie is left handed. We think with the right side of our brains. 😊
Allie, you live in the woods! You have moved in to their habitat! Get used to critters on the roof. ! LOL!
It is the direction the door opens that dictates
We added a triangular shape (45⁰) piece of trim to my cedar ceiling. It was the perfect finish.
I'm with Trent and his choice of non burnt bacon!
Also- I LOVE SEEING FRANK!!!!!!
When you open the door, a crack you can reach in and turn on the light so you put it on the side with the door handle, that way you can turn the light on before you go in so you don’t trip on things.
What a sweet way to start the video. Kinda like a Hallmark movie. 😍
Everyone likes to "move it move it". We watch the credits all the way thru so we can sing and dance with my 5 year old niece.
Good Morning!! ❤happy Monday y’all
Happy Monday Morning ❤
Allie, your such a wonderful mom!!! It’s really amazing to watch you with your kids! I had to tell you!!!
Mountain home again, even if it's only for 2 days, it's wonderful!
16:55 that is an inward opening LH door, so the switch has to be on the right. Also, you're looking into the room to your right, so the switch has to be on the right 😉
Otherwise you will always have to close the door or walk around it before you can turn on the light.
That is only an opening from a hallway into the room. There will be no door. That is what started the whole question of which side, as if there was a door they would obviously put it on the correct side, but without a door, there is a choice.
❤ Everything looks beautiful ❤
Just a thought maybe you could put heaters outside by the back door....
Good to see you guys back in the house. Was just thinking about. When you moved up there in the camper. Man its come a long ways. Thanks for sharing. Much love. God Bless
