Great information ... I have learned and found that the copper scrubby will clean the residue off better than steel wool, which is good, but I do like the blacker finish using the copper scrubby to clean the zinc. Love learning from you Ed ...

I've been using steel wool and have never thought of trying it with copper as you suggest. I will be giving that a try.

I’ve given up on black patina for the zinc around the edge. A small can Rustoleum in black gloss works wonders and holds constant “forever”.

You guys are sooooo Cool and definitely always make my day...!!!!! I always use steel wool when cleaning Ed & Barb... & there are different Grades I've found and like the Extra Fine 000 or Super Fine 0000 when doing the work. Just for an experiment, I recently used a mixture of baking soda and water to make a paste and used that with my steel wool to clean my stainless steel sink and I couldn't believe the awesome shiny results... Every mark I had in the sink was GONE...! Great video Barb and Ed...! Really appreciate all you guys bring to the table...!!! 👍👍👍👍

i LIKE THE 0000 on solder and zinc but always hate the cleanup of it breaking up into flecks., the patina leaves rust spots everywhere.. so now I will only use medium grit lightly on my solder.

Hi Ray! Ed’s got your email and we’re catching up. The cactus window is awesome. Thanks for the insight on the steel wool.
