Denken was willing to go toe-to-toe with Frieren during the Stille arc. Part of that was he had not seen how strong she was yet, but also he was confident she would not be trying to kill them. When faced with a clone of her that would likely not hesitate to kill them, he instantly thinks they should run (if it wouldn't mean failing the test). I always liked that little detail.
Also, at first Denken deemed himself able to defeat Frieren. Frieren conceals her mana to be similar to an old experienced mage, so that tricked him in their first fight. However, by this point, he most likely noticed the huge gap betweem them in terms of raw power

It makes sense for Frieren to gamble on chests that the Mikheit spell detects as mimics. She's going to find enough treasure chests in her lifetime that that 1% roll is going to come up at least a few times, she appears to be fairly mimic-bite resistant, and she's able to get out of them on her own. It's still funny, but from the perspective of someone who is going to meet hundreds of chests that all are 99% mimics and can survive them, it makes sense to open them. They're scary to be caught by, so it also makes sense she has to psych herself up for it.
Apparently, at some point in her life, Frieren encountered a chest that the spell said was a mimic and it turned out to contain a grimoire, so now she refuses to give up on that 1% chance.

To see a clone of a 1000 year old elf, student of the Great Flamme who has slain more demons than anyone in history, who's also the mage of the hero's party that took down the Demon King, is simply terrifying. I agree with Denken. No way in a million lifetimes am I ever gonna bother try fighting that monster.
actually, except of Frieren being from the party of heroes who took down Demon King, Denken doesn't know any of it. first of all, not even we as veiwers know Frieren's real age, and a very few ppl knows she's over 1000. because if ppl know, demons will too, and i bet absolute most of them won't even try to cross a mage over 1000 years old, which means she can't keep killing them(remeber EP10, Frieren said she wants to destroy all of them). Frieren being over 1000 yers old is not a known fact, so Denken can't know it. Frieren as the final boss of the dungeon?! As Kim said, "No effing way!". I absolutely loved learning that Himmel - and now Frieren too - is a completionist. I can definitely relate to that attitude. Glad to see that you are watching these episodes all in one sitting. Having no breaks really adds to the experience I think, as someone who also came late to this series, and who joyfully binged these last few episodes in a mad rush of adrenaline.
Serie didn’t have to be near the barrier in the 1st exam for it to stay active. Flamme was nowhere near Graf Granat’s town and that barrier still worked over 1000 years and counting.
I like the part where Frieren, Fern and Sense are entering the dungeon and Frieren tells Sense not to interfere implying that if Sense does anything suspicious Frieren will take her out in a second.
Excellent guess Kim! Serie doesn't need to be near the barrier, but she could sense when and who broke through. Flamme erected a barrier around a tiny plant in snow and it lasted 1000 years. Again, Fern and her seed rats would be great! Frieren can't totally conceal her mana because she's has to really focus to do it. Her pool of mana is too big to hide where as mages like Fern have been doing it since a young age and don't have as large a pool so can almost be invisible to Frieren or Linne. But as we've learned Fern's mana pool may be larger than more modern mages since Frieren was training her to increase her mana and her inate talent in hiding her mana, she's probably better than Frieren at it.
I'm really glad that you're finally getting to the second test. You're really going to be shocked by the ferocity of the different fights but also by the quality with which they were animated. But I'm not going to say anything more and I'll let you have the pleasure of discovering that.

The proctor can't just go down into the tomb and leave treasures for them to retrieve because nobody has ever conquered the tomb. That includes her. She *can't* get to the lowest floor to leave treasure, and if she could, well I guess it's possible the first team to reach the goal could just grab all the treasure and bring it up and sell it to the other groups to make a little profit on the side. The Proctor really *has* to be there to be able to judge who genuinely makes it. If the tomb has never been conquered, there has to be a good reason that the proctor is already aware of. She wouldn't pick a tomb nobody has ever entered and say, get to the King's chamber... and they open the tomb for the first time and the King's chamber is right there! Erm... ok... I guess everybody passes! Well done, guys! There has to be a reason she has decided this particular tomb will be a strong enough challenge for a 1st class mage. It worries me that the proctor of the first test called the second proctor a sadist. She says she will not interfere but, if there is something down there making copies of the people present in the tomb... will it make a copy of her? If it's something resident in the tomb in the form of a trap or a monster, which I suspect is the reason nobody has conquered the tomb, then it isn't going to be differentiating between the proctor and the test takers. Won't it make a copy of her as well? Is she aware of the possibility? She won't directly interfere but she knows her double will, perhaps? I dunno. It's a worry, though! Still loving the reactions. Sad it's the last series you'll be doing together but I'm still going to enjoy it while it lasts. I hope you will address that in the final episode so we can all say a proper goodbye, but you do whatever you choose. If I knew how to run a YT channel I'd have one myself. Don't plan too much anyway. The final episode may yet change your mind... ooh... mysterious, aren't I? 😜
Small correction: Genau never called Sense a sadist. He just said that she's made a "dreadful test" (anime) or "cruel test" (manga). She replies that she's a pacifistic unlike him. However, good job on the rest of your analysis. :)
One thing I like about this anime is that it strongly implies that elves have much better/stronger memories than humans. This makes sense, given that a race so long-lived would have the natural capacity to remember that shorter-lived races would not need. This becomes more apparent as we get to know more about Serie, but it is also true of Frieren. Her clear recollection of her adventures with her friends from 80 years ago, even if she is now recontextualizing what their words and actions meant, demonstrates this.
As proctor, sense said she would neither assist or intervene. It was implied that the crystal activated. Although I always thought it was a weird edit. I thought something went wrong with the stream first time I watched it.
I would like to point out that as much as people talks shit about Richter he was the first call out that the little mage got trapped, so he is cold but not heartless.

Denken knows EXACTLY why he hears boss music.
Thank you for sharing 😊
C-FernPO: "Mistress Frieren, the odds of this treasure chest being a mimic trap are at least 99 to 1."
Frieren Solo: "Never tell me the odds."
Frieren's Elden Ring boss esque intro is so bone chilling
Everyone thinks they can be a 1st class mage, until the mages start singing in Latin
One of the scariest copies on paper is the Fern copy. Undetectable mage assassin build 🤣
back to back? hell yeah!
27:31 Fern's staff has a purple ribbon, not a crystal.
Yep. And the small gem at the end of the ribbon is actually red. For example check Episode 1 at about 23 minutes and 32 seconds.
Everybody gangsta until a Frieren clone shows up.
Homage to the loose unit 🙂↕️
"Something has changed in the labyrinth... Why is boss battle music playing?"
I can't wait for the next episode
I also love Labyrinth. Such a great performance by David Bowie 😏
There are fan videos on YT that just took this copy frieren entrance and added the Dark Soul Boss graphics... it was really appropriate
Best week-end ever
As proctor, sense said she would neither assist or intervene. It was implied that the crystal activated. Although I always thought it was a weird edit. I thought something went wrong with the stream first time I watched it.
フリーレンの本気の戦いが見れますね。今までがいかに、手加減してたかが分かります。
Was that a shoutout to Carly and Ange?! 4:42
Really enjoyed your reaction!
Well that makes another one for Kims "That was not 20 Minutes" Counter.
I think we are now at 3 so far xD
Serie going to the bottom to the dungeon with everyone seems to have a simple reason - no one has ever made it there. Which would include herself.
Minor correction: Sense not Serie.
@@Diablos-pi2qy Oops, thanks!
I would like to point out that as much as people talks shit about Richter he was the first call out that the little mage got trapped, so he is cold but not heartless.
Finding out Himmel is a 100% completionist type gamer really sheds light on why it took them 10 years to kill the demon king
Frieren literally gets Final Boss music even before the Demon King did. Scary, Scary stuff.
god i need these next few reactions to come out quickly
Gonna go into a coma until the next reaction drops
So soon?!🎉🎉
Alright, put the emergency number on speed dial for the next episode.
u have frieren earrings
日本からこんにちは(≧▽≦)
Hello from Japan(≧▽≦)
I have a plushie of Frieren stuck in a mimic chest on preorder 😂
Himmel's a gamer confirmed.
When will the reaction to episode 24 come out ? We've been waiting for 8 days.
How does a 9 AM (EST) release sound :) ?? Thank you so much for watching with us :)
@@FTF-Media For me, 9am (EST), it's 3pm in the afternoon in France. so, for me, it's okay, it's the end of the day 😁 The goal of my message was of course not to rush you but it's just because I was too impatient to see your reaction because I really love your channel and your reactions. And I'm going to watch your reaction to episode 24 which just came out right away 😁
YES! Kim is a Percy Jackson fan, I love this
Hp bar appeared on your peripheral
Ubel my queen!
When the little girl ended up trapped, she lost her wand? Cause i expected for her to at least attempt to break the walls or something
Is that a Carlie & Ange reference at 4:41? xD
