    You might need a set of the chief Machining centering caps. My NV's were killing me trying to chase an unbalancing. Turns out, the wheels were balanced, but solely relying on the wheel bolts as centering wasn't enough to keep them centered on the hub. Bought a set of the caps, vibrations instantly gone.

      Dont ask yep, the typical method wheels that everyone gets are junk. They only have a 2500 load capacity and most get them for looks. The trail series are different. 3600 load carrying capacity, bead grip, and cheap. No one else offers that.

      Ah ok. So you going 35s with 0 offset?
      If that’s the case, yes, there is still some rubbing at full tuck. But mainly on the fender flares. Most just do a leveling collar to avoid it and are fine. It’s actually the most common config of these trucks

    How much of the load rating is related to the lug pattern? It seems that the load rating of these is 2,650# (6 lugs). The exact same wheel with 8 lugs is 3,640#. Is that saying that the lugs are the limiting factor and ~2,560# is the highest you can get without swapping to an 8 lug pattern? I have found a couple other examples of similar occurrences

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 года назад

      Chad D I don’t know enough about it, but your probably right.
      I have seen wheel manufacturers provide wheels that can be stronger than the lugs though. Example, most aftermarket Beadlocks are rated for 3600-3800 lbs. the wheel construction itself is that strong.
      Looking back at this video I did fuck up. 704s are rated for 2680. But if you get the 701s in 6 lug, they are stronger at 3640. Again that’s just the wheel, and I’m sure you are correct that the lugs are still limited to 2680.

    • @Mattm3svt
      @Mattm3svt 4 года назад +1

      The actual lugs are not a factor when it comes to the load rating of a wheel. What Method is doing here is a bit mis-leading and marketing fluff by saying their wheels achieve a load rating "up to 3640lbs". The load rating of a wheel is determined as part of the engineering process. The engineers decide how much material to add or remove, and in what areas to add that material to increase strength and load rating. However, more material typically leads to a heavier wheel, so they are trying to find the right balance. There are a ton more details when it comes to designing wheels, but load rating is determine during the engineering process. The 6-lug and 8-lug wheels are not just simple a lug pattern change, but an entirely different engineering design. I'm willing to bet the 8-lug wheel is a lot heavier than the 6-lug.
      Their 8-lug wheels (which are typically designed for larger and heavier trucks), do have a load rating of 3640lbs. Their 6-lug wheels are designed with a load rating of 2680lbs, since the standard for most Raptor wheels has been around the 2500-2600 mark. They just wanted to be a little bit stronger :)
      A 2600lb load rating has been proven to be just fine on Raptors. Even Innov8's forged Raptor wheels only have a load rating of 2600. However, engineering a beefier lip or better designed spokes to handle abuse can also play a role in how your wheels perform. That's why you see some wheels fail, while others are fine, even though they have the same load rating.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 года назад

      Matt C thanks for the explanation. Because the 701s have a very different construction and have the higher load rating. When I looked at a few wheels, I liked the trail series because there was a extra metal around the spokes and where the bead grip is. It’s not much, but for me (someone that has bent 3 forged wheels) it can make a difference

    • @Mattm3svt
      @Mattm3svt 4 года назад +1

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad No problem! My experience is mostly in motorsport wheels, but the general ideas are the same for truck wheels. Load rating is important, but so is the design of the spokes and lip. It looks like the trail series definitely fit the bill when it comes to a beefy lip, and I would definitely consider them if I ever replace the current wheels on my Raptor.

    If you want to free up some space in the garage and want to give me your old stocks or the 4wp I will gladly make that sacrifice 😝😜hahaha
    I have issues with my rear right sensors was going to either take it back to big brand for reprogramming since they installed theirs or when I take it in for service but I can’t seem to get it to work. It sorta reads it but totally wrong pressure and then it says fault and stops reading it.

    I like the 4 wheel parts weels better. I know you didnt buy them for looks but those methods are ugly.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 года назад

      TheHardcoreLife to each his own. I did not buy the 4WP wheels. They were given to me. And there are 2 main reasons I did not like them. 1. Load rating is low for a Raptor. They have a lifetime structural warranty, but I don’t want to have to worry.
      2. They are all black. I don’t like all black wheels. I need some color. An all black wheel on a truck looks like everyone else and shows no imagination or taking any risk to look different.
      So based on function alone, the Method 704 is a much better wheel.

  • @JeepCherokeeful

    Factory beadlocks are better. No pain, no gain

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  2 года назад

      Yes and no.
      They are better in that it’s a stronger rim and the Beadlocks allows you to run lower pressure and keeps the tire on the rim in case of a flat.
      BUT, high speed off-roading requires pressure. You can’t go too low because at 60+ mph the only thing protecting the wheels is the pressure in the tire.
      I run 28-32 because I’ve bent 3 stock forged Beadlocks running 25 or lower. Most race teams use 32, again to protect the wheels.
      Beadlocks also means you have to do all the work. You mount, You dismount, you repair the tires. A tire swap took me a full day of work going back and forth between the shop and my garage. Too much work and not worth it
