I honestly really love how Loose Collector, Boss Fight Studios, and Fresh Monkey Fiction are all releasing absolute banger lines. And they even make their own that is very cool.
Great review! I pencilled issue #2 of ROCKETEER and the SPIRIT a few years ago, and I've been a fan of Dave Stevens' ROCKETEER since it debuted in comic form in the 1980s. I like these figures a lot, but because of my love for the characters, and due to my artistic background, I had to do some repainting on these figures. I repainted Betty's eyebrows because they were the wrong shape, & were throwing off her likeness. Likewise, i repainted her eyelashes, and I repainted her lips a slightly darker red. I have a very steady hand for fine details due to decades of inking with a brush, so the improvement was dramatic. Those little detail changes made all the difference! I'll post some images on my Twitter account later in the week if I can. I also repainted Cliff's hair, which shouldn't be Conan O'Brien red, but a darker reddish-brown. I also thickened his eyebrows, and repainted his eyelashes to give his eyes less of a "football" shape. Eyes shouldn't be that shape, as any artist worth their salt can tell you. These changes drastically improved the look of Cliff's head. I'd say that LooseCollector needs to focus more on sculpting and painting human eyes. The eyes on Red Sonja were weirdly spaced too far apart and gave her a wall-eyed look that wasn't great. They also are using those little beady eye decal-looking eyes that make the pupils look kind of dead. Combine that with the amateur-looking football eye shapes, and it diminishes the look of an otherwise high-end action figure. I love these figures a lot--especially after I made the tweaks to the faces. I have the skills to do that, but most collectors do not. Many won't mind the faces, and will be just fine with the way the come in the package, but in my opinion, LooseCollector has got to do better if they want to compete in today's action figure market. They are producing pricey figures, and collectors expect more from expensive toys. They do well on articulation, on accessories, and on most of the paint on the bodies, but they have to figure out better ways to paint the facial details. The Rocketeer & Betty figures are absolutely worth owning, but they're not as nice as they could and should be. That's my professional opinion, but I'm also a lot pickier than most. What's easy to see though, is that LooseCollector IS improving with each release! You can really see that they are making efforts to get better, and they are trying to address issues. That's what you want to see from a toy company.
Yet another classic upload from Robo. I see you putting in more effort and getting experimental with your editing. I love the intro bit. You make the most entertaining toy content on RUclips, and your videos are like a Hollywood production compared to these other guys. No hate to the other guys, but you have something they all want; you have the secret sauce, a.k.a. swag
Sitting on this one too long. Definitely going to need to pick it up. Love the Rocketeer, and that Betty is pure 40s pin-up goodness. Cap is getting some backup to take on Red Skull 😄
Poor Cliffy. Funko's unhelmeted head was rough, this one is too. In the right lighting it does look better. Still ... helmets on for victory. And you did indeed nail that pose, that alone sold me on this set!
Holding off on getting this from my BBTS Pile of Loot has been difficult (I'm still waiting for other stuff to be added) and this review only cements my expectations that I will love this set. Regarding the Funko figure, my left wrist sadly broke a few years ago (it sits in the joint but can no longer turn on the hinge) but I've still had a hard time letting go of it just because it was the first Rocketeer figure I ever got and still looks decent standing in the collection. The Diamond Select one is also a great figure IMO and does one thing I'm surprised no other release has done--made it an option for the jetpack to be separate and worn by other figures!
Funko fumbles the bag soooo hard when they used clear plastic for their joints on their six in figures. That line could have been great but they all immediately broke if your moved them at all. I had several Firefly and Game of Thrones figures and they ALL broke. Either while being handled, shelf falls, or during a move. Anyway tangent over. Great review. I didn’t NEED these figures but I wanted them. I missed out on
The portrait of Cliff looks just like Dave Stevens art, so it looks fine to me. This is a top notch set. I'd love to see them do some of the other Rocketeer comic book characters, like Peevy, and a Gee Bee scaled to fit Cliff.
I'll do you one better, Robo: I know the Rocketeer from designs *alone,* haven't even seen the movie! That said, I've always loved the designs. They just feel so classic! I love me some old school pulp style characters, and this guy fits that bill. Perfect for teaming up with Captain America or the JSA.
seeing those double joints on bettie makes me sad they weren't on the red sonja figure. These two look great together tho and I think i may have to pick up this two pack.
Awesome thanks for the review. I’m still kinda on the fence, I do want this set I love Bettie Paige and The Rocketeer but would have to paint the inside of the bloomers for sure. How does the Funko movie jet pack look the Loose Collector figure?
I know these figures are expensive, but I don't think they are *that* expensive. $75 isn't that abnormal for an imported, low MOQ item. This is what a lot of indie figures or 3rd party are going for, or even stuff like Mafex. That said, Loosecollector isn't quite there yet. Like what Robo said, I see improvements in every release that they do and that is promising to see. Even still, they've got a long way to go before they catch up to Mafex quality. The plastic is harder and more rigid instead of softer and smoother, the paint (especially flesh tones and eyes) just isn't there yet, the engineering and articulation still need some work (glad to see future ladies having double knees and elbows), and I don't think we get as many accessories as we do with something like Mafex. If LC can address and correct these 4 issues, I think it'll be a lot closer to what we should hope to expect at this price point. So on the one hand, I want to support them so that they can hopefully get to where I want them to be, but on the other hand, they are currently a bit overpriced for what they are.
Can't tell for sure, but are these the same size as the Neca Defenders of the Earth? I'm dying for a Green Hornet & Kato and Fu Manchu figure from Neca! And the Shadow!
It’s amazing to get Betty Page figure and they really do look mostly great aside from Betty’s face paint apps that is most important imo, LS is improving but face paint is on the level of early Hasbro legends. They really need to up their game when it comes to face paint if they are asking this price point.
I have several of the Loose Collector women figures, but I didn't notice until watching this review how similar the articulation is to the DC Direct Bombshells figures. I'd like to see improved face paint on these figures. I understand it's a smaller company, but at the price point it should be better than it is, specifically on the eyes. That doesn't mean I'm cancelling my pre-order for Chaotica and La Muerta tho!
Well, to those who do toy photography, paint shading on action figures is a problem. It's not that I don't like it, but it's difficult to adjust your photo lighting according to the default shading on the figure.
Robo you totally confused what those black straps are. Those black straps are supposed to be the harness of the rocketpack … they have nothing to do with the jacket or its flaps… sadly they are sculpted here.. so it looks weird with those black straps while not wearing the rocketpack
My imagination is running wild with Poor Funko Rocketeer having to sit and watch as you play with his replacement. It's Toy Story all over again.
I honestly really love how Loose Collector, Boss Fight Studios, and Fresh Monkey Fiction are all releasing absolute banger lines. And they even make their own that is very cool.

Glad to see Loosecollectors in-hand figures actually match the promo photos now
That unmasked head is giving off strong Slappy from Goosebumps vibes.
Sitting on this one too long. Definitely going to need to pick it up. Love the Rocketeer, and that Betty is pure 40s pin-up goodness.
Cap is getting some backup to take on Red Skull 😄
Awesome review!! Absolutely LOVED seeing the pose of Rocketeeer blasting off carrying Betty!
Wow... Looks really good and a Betty Page figure ! i need this.
Fantastic video 👌🏽
That intro of the rocketeer flyin to your desk was jetastic
It looks great. I still have the bendy figure of The Rocketeer from when I was a kid.
this is a gorgeous pairing.
Poor Cliffy. Funko's unhelmeted head was rough, this one is too. In the right lighting it does look better. Still ... helmets on for victory. And you did indeed nail that pose, that alone sold me on this set!
I love this set so much.
I love it. I want one.
Fitting you compared him to Boba Fett. The director of the Rocketeer movie designed Boba Fetts look.
Loving the intro again dude! Nice work. Also picked up a RDK Logo T-shirt from your store and they are Niiiiiice. Cheers. Keep up the good work
Awesome, thanks!
I finally found Robos new channel! I was loyal to him, not the company he was with.
Love the intro
Holding off on getting this from my BBTS Pile of Loot has been difficult (I'm still waiting for other stuff to be added) and this review only cements my expectations that I will love this set.

That was a sick intro and fade
Digging the intro...very nice.
Big Rocketeer fan (that's me in my profile pic).
You really owe it to yourself to check out the books, Dave Stevens was something else.
Yes! I'm even tempted to send him a copy of the collection 😆

I believe loose collector is coming out with a movie jet pack expansion kit. I swear I saw it online, or maybe it was a fan made 3D Print.
Fun fact: The Rocketeer movie was directed by Joe Johnston, the guy responsible for the design and painting of Boba Fett.
The portrait of Cliff looks just like Dave Stevens art, so it looks fine to me. This is a top notch set. I'd love to see them do some of the other Rocketeer comic book characters, like Peevy, and a Gee Bee scaled to fit Cliff.
These figs are cool but that Rocketeer intro was awesome.
Dude, that Betty face sculpt is straight up Melina :o
I'll do you one better, Robo: I know the Rocketeer from designs *alone,* haven't even seen the movie!
That said, I've always loved the designs. They just feel so classic! I love me some old school pulp style characters, and this guy fits that bill. Perfect for teaming up with Captain America or the JSA.
Single release is coming in November I'm excited
I solely want these to put with my classified collection
Got the neca Elkhorn an Vultan from the flash movie. Both are very cool!
seeing those double joints on bettie makes me sad they weren't on the red sonja figure. These two look great together tho and I think i may have to pick up this two pack.
Loose Collector did a great job with the Rocketeer. I hope they do a John Carter of Mars. 🤞
Hmmm....maybe it's time to get this superheroic Rocketman and Betty Page.
Awesome thanks for the review. I’m still kinda on the fence, I do want this set I love Bettie Paige and The Rocketeer but would have to paint the inside of the bloomers for sure. How does the Funko movie jet pack look the Loose Collector figure?
I just need to find that Betty Page by herself.
Man, I wish Loose Collector's Taarna figure had come out as well in the face as Betty (and most of their other figures.)
I think the button metal glove is to control the rocket
Nice video and what is that material you use as the background for your display coming off the wall?
Sweet!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The backpack looks like it goes with Bandai's Sky High from Tiger & Bunny
I know these figures are expensive, but I don't think they are *that* expensive.

Hope they do 6 inch phantom
Didn't mention if the jet packs can be swapped between the LC and Funko figures
Did you keep the packaging, can it be saved or does it rip open
Nice review of the OG Mandalorian before he became a single dad. 😉
I prefer the Diamond Select Rocketeer.
Can't tell for sure, but are these the same size as the Neca Defenders of the Earth? I'm dying for a Green Hornet & Kato and Fu Manchu figure from Neca! And the Shadow!
I wish the Rocketeer was sold by itself and cut the price by 1/2
Can you research anything about “Captain Planet” ??? I mean, how come it’s never been reimagined? Just curious, a fanboy of CP show & yours! Thnx.
Helmetless head looks very ken Doll
Hi
👍

Betty Bumps
aw yeah Roboteers
why does the peggy carter figure doesnt fit it? short people arent allowed?
Just seems like Betty has a sunburn to me lol.
maybe the Cliff head has pink lips because he was making out with Bettie.
"The Rocka who" ?
Gratuitous generic comment.
What happened to your fwoosh channel
Personally I prefer the Diamond Select for the blast effects. Oh and the price.
Well, to those who do toy photography, paint shading on action figures is a problem. It's not that I don't like it, but it's difficult to adjust your photo lighting according to the default shading on the figure.
Is that Iron man?
Robo you totally confused what those black straps are. Those black straps are supposed to be the harness of the rocketpack …

LooseCollectors stuff looks fantastic but I just can’t justify the price point.
Same. I’ll wait for a rerelease down the line
Conan O’Brien?
Trigger fingers! You know what that means?
WB/DC:??
The unhelmeted head is horrendous.
That unmasked dude head is atrocious
I’m sorry sir. But loosecollector has to do better. For the price they charge. These human bodies need a huge upgrade in the articulation department.
I’m sorry but as good as these figures are they aren’t $75 each good.
Don't apologize to me, I'm still happy.
It's unfortunate we spend all this money on figures and some companies still have those atrocious thigh swivels.
these look so messy
A very overpriced decent toy. However, still better than the overpriced bad toys like Marvel Legends...
She does not look like Betty Page👎
I have all the original comics, but passed on this initially, because of the early LC qc issues. Dammit, Robo! *goes to BBTS*
