People laugh at these scenes but bullying in the workplace is a very serious thing. How would you guys feel like if you were tormented and insulted 5 days a week? I know this is a t.v. show but still... Toby's terrible behaviour towards Michael is cruel and completely unjustified.

It's very interesting Toby is either very good at HR or terrible at HR.
He’s good at HR, because HR exists to protect the company, not the employees. That’s why he doesn’t read the complaints, sides with corporate and gets hated by everyone

@@phastinemoon Toby wasn't good at enforcing policies. Remember when he once published a memo on PDA because he wanted to block Jim and Pam's relationship but backfired? No one cared about his memo when clearly everyone is sleeping with one another in the office (Ryan, Kelly, Angela, Dwight) or having PDA (Holly, Michael, Pam, Jim).

@@jasperherr8694 HR is there to manage personnel needs for a company. I really don't get how confused you have to be, to angrily say "they're not on your side, they're on the company's side". Of course they're on the company's side, did anyone ever tell you otherwise? If you're in a situation where your job is going poorly but you can't leave, so you need some kind of protection, what you need is either a union rep or some kind of arbitrator or ombudsman.

The best part is Toby is the only person who can’t fight back cuz he’s HR and it’s his job to be Switzerland.

Actually he could fight back. Toby is the only reason Michael hasn’t been fired yet. The reason why Michael hates Toby is because Toby (barely) stops Michael from doing dumb stuff that can lead to juridical problems, so Michael sees him as an enemy that holds him back from “being friendly” with his coworkers.
If he did his job, Michael would’ve been fired a long time ago.

I always liked Toby as an introverted but still normal guy that gets picked on by Michael because it's his job as HR to keep everything "sane"

Yeah, a couple of characters definitely got Flanderized in later seasons. Toby is definitely one of those, as is Andy. It's honestly kind of weird that it happened to them, but the more extreme characters like Dwight and Erin, whom you'd expect to get progressively Flanderized to be more extreme, get more fleshed out and human.
Honestly Tobys depression/demeanor makes sense at the end it's pretty much how someone in his position in real life would end up lol
I mean tbf he is dealing with years of micheal saying horrible things to him, including straight up telling him he should die, him being depressed makes sense

Who told you HR is your friend? When did HR market themselves as that? HR is there for recruiting, onboarding, training, development , payroll, performance reviews. They aren’t your personal therapist nor did they ever tell you they are. That’s on you for thinking that in a business environment where no one is your friend.

It would actually make so much sense if Toby really was the Scranton Strangler. Because Michael Scott is such a raw, primal force of nature and all around emotional person he just reacts as any 'stupid' dog would. By barking at the bad.
The funniest thing to me is that Toby is still the HR representative who answers directly to corporate, so he should be able to tell David Wallace and other executives about the constant harassment he and others experience and recommend that certain individuals be moved to a different branch or fired. The fact that he doesn't says that he's so distraught and jaded from his divorce and seeing Pam go from Roy to Jim and constantly hearing Mihcael reaffirm that he's a complete failure indicates that he's resigned to his fate. As he says, "No, I wouldn't say I have a passion for HR." as he would have no passion for a job that ruined his life.
Toby is literally my favorite character just because of how deadpan he is and also how Michael treats him 😂

Michael's death stare at the start is the best. The rings under his eyes--kudos to the makeup artist for bringing them out--underscore his contempt for Toby (and only because he's HR!), who is curiously la-di-da in response. Strange scene, but so genius.
It's great that you guys are pumping out these new videos with different titles. That gives me the opportunity to watch all the clips I already know again, but in a different order.

Michael hates toby more than anyone, but is still unwilling to let toby get into serious legal trouble with what he thought was the weed, even trying to take the blame. This was a really telling scene, because even though he tried to set him up, he realized that he couldn't live with himself if the plan worked.
