Talk about Christmas in July Max! Those were some awesome kits. The Snark, I lived in Peoria IL as a kid, back in the Summer of 1958, there was a Snark on display there. It was at a shopping center that was on the then north end of town, now almost the center. But it was in a shopping center called Sheridan Village. There are a couple of pics online with it sitting in the Northeast corner of the lot by the sign. I heard a lot about it as a kid in the 60's, I had to build one when I found one at the local hobby shop. Nice haul Max, that box contains some great kits for you, but a lot of modeling memories for me. Thanks for sharing!
Modeling is for me a way of enjoying history, fantasy and nostalgia in my own hands and mind. I love your channel because you speak of modeling the same way I feel about it. Every one has their own specific skills they can bring to the hobby and sometimes impress with super detail and paint techniques, I'm envious of those folks on RUclips for sure. However my love for kits and brainstorming possibilities is just part of my DNA. Sure, you may never get around to it but the ideas keep flowing.
K Nelson… I feel the same way… I see a kit and I start thinking on how I’m going to build it , can I put it in a DIORAMA???? THE CREATIVE JUICES START TO FLOW
Holy Moly, what a haul! And, a very generous gift. 😎 Bringing back memories, I had the M-55 SP Howitzer and the Monogram missiles kit when young. Max's biggest problem now, where to display these huge models!
My cousin was a Marine artillery non com . 20 years when he retired. He has a massive collection of 1/35 tanks and artillery. His favorite- the 155 howitzer.
Always amazes me how Max can get a box full of models that he hasn't seen and then give you a history of the kit and its real world use! Is there no end to this man's knowledge? ;) "Cars still had tails fins" LOL
The Congreve Rockets were used in the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812. Queen Victoria came to the throne in 1837, so they were in use over 30 years before the dawn of the Victorian Age. That Hawk Beta-I looks beautiful, that and the Monogram Missile Arsenal. Wow, what a great collection. May I suggest a solution for your storage problem ? Super Max. You really are well liked. A nice gift Robert. I see Honey has nosed in to pick the one she wants. I have seen one of those big Gundam kits completed. They are awesome. Shangri-La was a mythical utopia somewhere in the Himalayas from James Hilton's moralistic fictional novel, ''Lost Horizon.'' Didn't fool the Japanese. Although Army/Navy cooperation was a strange, foreign concept to them, logic indicated that Army bombers had to have been launched from a Carrier. In 1944 Mrs Doolittle smashed a champaign bottle across the bow of the brand new Exxex Class carrier USS Shangri-La CV-38.
