    Ladanian Tomlinson earned his HOF jacket being the best back of the 2000s in an under center offense pounding it, catching it. He even had a 2010 Jets comeback, that was fun. Shaun Alexander was great, but peak was too short.

    Freaking Air McNair! Nice comeback game by him.... These were back in the day they were so conservative. I can understand MartyBall's ways of thinking. He had LT and he knew he could make things happen, especially on those 3rd and long scenarios where he was having him run the ball instead of having Philip throw it. One thing I can say: At least Marty knew how to run a conservative offense, unlike this recent coach and coaching staff that the Chargers had. It was pathetic!

      Defensive coaches; they ignore data. The worst passing offenses are 6.3 Yards PER ATTEMPT. The greatest rushing offense is 4.5 Yards Per Carry. The run game's main use is to punish defenses for committing to stop the pass; and the Play Action which raises effectiveness 8+ yards per attempt. Which isnt tied to how well or often you run.

    • @WalterWhiteFootballSharing
      @WalterWhiteFootballSharing 3 года назад

      The run can be stopped with ease if defenses commit, if the safeties don't need to be deep, they can't be blocked theres not enough blockers. Again and again we see the Run doesn't even work, can NOT work, without the pass threat. Derrick Henry without a functioning passing offense was okay at best. Ryan Tannehil was so effective he had NINE Yards Per Attempt in 2019. Henry exploded as a result, 2019-20.

      @@waylenwaddlefinsup9876 duh, read what I wrote, even box scores tools like you can find tell you Yards per carry and yards per passing attempt. It doesn't need analytics. And it was 2004 when websites dug deeper to debunk the whole 100 yards rushing causes wins rather then caused by clock killing, and that play action effectiveness not being tied to rushing attempts or production.

      By the way, watch this game, Rivers is throwing often. Its wear out defenses by passing which is far more running, pass rushing is way more exhausting... then run over fatigued fronts late.

    Its fun to watch the days when so many people thought under center A FB and a TE or 2TE was the ONLY WAY to play offense....and anything else is a gimmick. Now its a rare thing, the 2019-2021 Titans did it great, the 2019-present 49ers, but its way easier to be in shotgun and pistol with 3 WR; even to run it on lighter boxes. Unless your 5OL, FB and TE are GREAT blockers, this style is ugly - stuff stuff bad pass punt.

    This game infuriated me. I have never been so mad at Marty as I was after this loss. He completely took the ball out of Rivers' hands and did not even let him TRY to convert third downs. It was just running play after running play, even on obvious passing downs like 3rd and 7. Frustrating.

      LT said later the whole year they were playing super conservative because Phill was basically a rookie in 06 never understood how marty was fired and was never given an opportunity to open up the offense

      Of course a RB loved a coach who put the entire team's chances on his shoulders and run blocking. And if it didnt work, the chargers didnt win.
