    Compared to TTArtisan's 50mm f1.2, this 0.95 is really not that sharp. But I just love its dreamy bokeh and the performance on a full-frame sensor. Very affordable third-party lens. Nice review Raymond! Please keep posting great reviews!

      Thanks, Tang. Not that I can compare, but this lens proves TTArtisan is on to something. I'll be interested to see how their line-up progresses.

    Raymond! I like your videos. You got plain clean style to tell what you got to say and you speak so clear that people like me who does not speak and understund english well can understand what you have to say! Respect!

    I find these Chinese lenses to be a blessing for the tightly firewalled Z mount! I have about 6 TTArtisan lenses (all DX) for my Z cameras and I like to shoot them all wide open. I'm especially interested in the imperfections for a more retro/filmic look. I have my eye on this one as well especially to see what I get compared to a similarly specced 7Artisans lens that I own. Thanks for sharing!

      @@RaymondParkerPhoto You'll enjoy them, I'm sure! They're very nicely built and compact at the same time and you definitely get a great bang for your buck. If you want the best sharpness, stopping down to F4 or F5.6 is usually the sweet spot with a few exceptions where there might be some field curvature issues (not sure if this has to do with sample variations as well) but overall they're my go to for DX while I keep the Nikkor Z glass for my Z7II.

    Nice I see you caught me at 10:04 ... same location I just posted my video on the original 100mm EF Marco lens for canon. Love it there.. 😀

    I have this lens and find it great for low light portrait shoots . My style is black and white with vignetting so this flaw on the lens is not a problem.

    I probably wouldn’t have any use for the lens, but nice to see TTArtisian making Z lenses. I already have the 35 f1.8 that’s pretty much my go to lens.

    Interesting examples, well done. If this lens was FX, I’d likely buy it at an increased price. Still, an alternative autofocus lens for around 500 CAD is available, but not a 0.95. That is more likely to suit me. Thanks for making the video, I watched it carefully and it was a good use of my time.

      Thanks, Edward. Much appreciated. Yes, a full frame alternative w/ M-Z adapter is available from TTArtisan at around USD$780.

    Nice review. I like that you have concentrated on what you can do with this lens, rather than what it's no good for. However, I'm still left with the impression that I could just use my Nikon 50 f/1.8S lens and edit the images in post to create lens 'flaws' myself: and then I only need one lens to rule them all. It's also why I can't understand the fascination some have with film, when all the looks of film can also be created in software. Anyway, as they say YMMV.

    • @RaymondParkerPhoto
      @RaymondParkerPhoto  2 года назад +1

      I'm not so sure I could achieve the same effect with my 50 f/1.8S.
      As far as film, perhaps because I shot and developed film and printed the results for over 3 decades, I occasionally enjoy the process for its own experience (controlling everything from the point of exposure to print). And I can assure you the same effect can't be achieved with, say, a preset in Nik or other digital software.
      The digital "equivalent" process can be interesting to pursue, but it's not the same experience or end result.
      Sometimes, I now like to mix the two, taking my old or new negatives and adding digital effects. That's the best of both worlds.

      @@RaymondParkerPhoto I have fond memories of black and white film, and developing and printing in the darkroom. I'm pretty sure that passion has passed though. Just like with audio, I enjoy the progress that digital has brought us. The irony is that my son in law loves vinyl records, and my daughter loves those little polaroid cameras.

    Interesting lens. I would like to play around with a lens like this at night and see what results that wide aperture can get. Nice film Ray.

      I was hoping to do just that but time ran out. I'll definitely take it to the city and see what I can do in that environment. I think you'd enjoy working with it in woods.

    This quite interesting. The first thing I did was to see if they have a Canon-compatible version which they don't but there's a brand called 7Artisans for $236US. It looks like the one you've got. At one time I had the Canon 50mm f/1.4 but I found it too soft to use and this one is too? Your sample photos did turn out great however.

      Hi Christian. 7Artisans is a different company. This TTArtisan lens has versions for Canon M and RF mounts. ttartisan.com/?list_10/143.html

      @@RaymondParkerPhoto Wow, it's crazy that there are two companies so similar. By the photos and even specs, the lenses are quite different too. Not just the same thing with a different label stuck on it.

    Great video! Thank you, Raymond. I’m new to photography and have just bought a Z50. I’m considering to learn with manual lens for travel, street photo or landscape shooting. For TTartisan, would you recommend 50mm or 35mm? Do I need to add a filter or hood for protection? Any recommendation? Thanks.

    • @RaymondParkerPhoto
      @RaymondParkerPhoto  2 года назад

      Thanks, Kenny. I rather like 35mm on full frame for street photography, but you have a DX camera. The equivalent would be around 23mm.
      TTArtisan have a 23mm f/1.4.
      If you decide on autofocus, Nikon make the incredibly compact NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR Lens so that would cover all those bases. It's a variable aperture but a good little lens by all accounts. I'll drop affiliate links in the video description if you're interested. Good luck on your photographic journey!

    is this one good for astrophotography? northern lights? or active volcanos at night? to take good timelapses

    • @RaymondParkerPhoto
      @RaymondParkerPhoto  Год назад +1

      I'm not an astrophotographer. I haven'y tested for coma, etc. which would, I assume, be of interest to astrophotographers. Certainly, you'd want to stick with APS-C. Northern lights and volcanoes? I don't see why not. See video samples in the video.

    can I use this "TTArtisan 35mm f/1.4 APS-C for Nikon Z Mount" on my nikon z6ii (fullframe body) ?why the naming using "APS-C" word, is it only works for APSC?
