      Because it is not how you do it correctly...
      Check the manual.... You need to start at the rear wheel and adjust the parking brake shoes, and then the cable and only then you adjust the foot travel if at all...

    Hey George...this actually worked just like in your video! I have a 2014 Sonata with 67 kms on it, and the the parking brake was going right to the floor. I know that the parking brake pads are in decent condition, so it looks like it was just the brake cable that had stretched over the years. Now the parking brake holds the car on a slight grade at about half of the brake pedal travel. Easy peasy!
    Thanks again.

      Glad it helped, do your cables attach to the caliper or goes inside the disc?

      @@GicaPhp Hi George, the cables activate brake shoes (drum brakes) which are located inside the rear discs. Gil

      @@gilmick5431 if you have brake shows, there is an adjuster there too. So what you should do is to loosen the parking brake pedal back, then adjust the shoes and then the pedal, it is similar to this video ruclips.net/video/If3adPwCQa4/видео.html (maybe the rubber bung might be on the outside)

      @@GicaPhp Okay, thanks George. I'll check out the adjustment on the brake shoes in the rear wheels. Up here in Ottawa, Canada we use snow tires from November till March. I'll have a look at it when I switch the tires out in the late fall. Thanks again for your very informative videos. Much appreciated! Gil

    • @big_mac6037
      @big_mac6037 3 года назад +4

      No that’s not it
      Bro you need to adjust the star wheel on the the rear brakes and then you tighten the
      Adjusting nut that is under the car right in the center .

    • @GicaPhp
      @GicaPhp  3 года назад +4

      @@big_mac6037 Thank You for our comment. On the IONIQ the system has a pedal box, a cable with an adjusting nut, then has splitter (equalizer assembly) where you connect the left and the right cable, which then they go all the way to each rear caliper where the out skin is secured by a clip and the cable is just hooked up over a hook. You are right about another nut on the equalizer assembly. but that is not meant for adjusting the travel. Parking brake travel should have 6 to7 clicks when applying 30kgf on the pedal.

    Hey George Moraru you think is the same thing for a Kia Sorento 2011?

    • @GicaPhp
      @GicaPhp  3 года назад +1

      If I remeber correctly, if you take a rear wheel off, you should see on the drum/disc a rubber plug (if still there) through which you can adjust your shoes. And if still free play in the lever/pedal there is also an adjuster there. You should reset both (loosen them) and then adjust shoes 1st then lever/pedal travel.

      @coastalcleaningandmaintena2884 yours have drums for parking brake, this video applies for caliper operated parking brake. Sorry for finding this video awful. Any parking brake system with drums will have main adjustment from inside drums and fine adjustment on lever. None of that applies to electronic parking brake.
