@3:05 Thank you so much for the explanations on adjustment of the Emergency Break. We have such a problem on one of our cars, not so dramatic as in this film, but still the car is moving a bit after the Emergency Break is applied. I thought you need to do something with the Em Break Cable to adjust it, and not just via the Adjuster on the Drum Breaks. I know how to do it and did it a couple times, so I can adjust the problem on our Chevy. Thank you again.
No, the important part is,when you adjust it, you will still be able to rotate it by hand, anything more than that, will wear out and put resistance on the engine
Hey AliMECH, this is the same system as on my sienna. I used the adjuster to loose the parking brake, but the pads are partially stuck still. Any tips?
my car has disc brakes in the front and drums brakes in the rear. is it the same way to adjust the emergency brake? my car still moves when the e-brake is engaged.
Handbrake is similar on my old Hyundai, the lever pulled by the brake cable can seize up due to corrosion and stops the brake shoes pulling away from drum. Because they're only designed to hold the car, not for stopping, they're pretty skinny so they can wear down pretty quick. It can also wear a groove in the drum which makes them hard to pull off unless you take that plug out and back the adjuster right off. As long as the handbrake is only applied after the car is stopped, the brake shoes linings shouldn't wear much and the adjuster shouldn't need much adjustment once it's set.
Hello i have a question my are new I changed them last month (June) and now (July) I hear a noise while i brake what is the problem here?? and my car still move when I push the handbrake
If you have that additional screw holding the disc, you can use a fitting bolt like in my case an M8 to push the disc off. It's from the repair manual of my car.
hello! I did all the steps exactly as I should! but when the car is facing down the slope, when I apply the handbrake, the car goes downhill! but when the car is facing downhill and I apply the handbrake, the car does not moves! What could be the problem?
Still didn't fix the issue. My cars' brakes get loose again and I have to keep doing this (re adjusting) every two weeks. It's getting annoying. I drive a 2007 Toyota Yaris Sedan 170k miles.
should check the handle before put everything back ! not just adjust to touch, should adjust to lock and release one or two, because shoes may not center ! I check how old or lady drive, they may can't pull up hand brake handle if less then three.
no true mechanic uses a duga duga gun to undo the wheels and tighten them and the fact he put the wheel back on and removed the jack stands before testing the hand brake..tut tut
@TM-fx5le bro..he used a juda gun which is a massive no no to someone who actually cares about his car..you have any idea how many snapped and threaded nut heads I've seen and even had due ti these guns? That's " wtf I'm in about"😂😂
@@kevstamc3676 That’s HILARIOUS, people that don’t care about their cars use impact guns on them? If you’re snapping so many wheel studs and nuts then you need to put the tools down and find another industry mate.
Many car mechanics do this, but it is still extremely wrong and dangerous. Never, ever, ever put grease on the mating surfaces between the disc and the axle. This is a frictional connection. With grease, the screw force is no longer sufficient to transfer the forces (like iron wheels on ice). Once movement has occurred the bolt force decreases and as it progresses the bolts shear off. The centering ring and the contact surfaces should better be thoroughly de-rusted and sanded. Grease can be applied very thinly to the centering ring. And why aren't the functional parts of the disc brake cleaned at the same time?
Wow the best, most simple and most efficient video on how to do this job on RUclips, without the unnecessary talk.
Thanks, glad it was helpful
Clear and quick explanation with simple language, straight to the point. Like this video. 👍

Adjusting from cable will cause damage in long term, because it will always be under tension, adjusting must be from brake shoes to have minimum gap
Short and to the point! Thank you.
Thanks for watching ✌️
Nice video man! You take a lot of effort just to do the camera angles, and explaining is clear. I'll suscribe
Saved me hundreds of dollars lmao. Thanka for making the video quick and easy

If you don't want to clean it could u leave the calliper on and adjust it?
Wouldn’t it be wear out the shoes if there slightly touching while drive or make fuel economy worse? Great video easy to understand

thank you.

good explaination, but what if i dont have that hole for the screwdriver? how can i adjust it then?
Thanks, then it will be at the backside
Hi thanks for your video !
How many click should I make for the adjustment ?
It depends how much the shoes wear out, adjust and turn till you feel its touching the brake shoes

Yes it's the same!
The video showed a brakedisc with a drumdisc build into it.
The drumbrake bit is the same.

Works the same on civic 2005?
How to change or more a jammed cable, cable from handbrake lever to the wheels?

Like the newer version of same title. But like both really.
Also, shouldn't that adjuster auto adjust as the brake shoes get worn out . Maybe it's rather a sign to change brake shoes than tighten the adjuster
I guess you need to count and do exact adjustment on both sides
Yes exactly, good point
