I have an entire work van of both Milwaukee and DeWalt cordless tools and I have barely any complaints. However, I will say hands down that both companies orbital sanders are the worst tools I have for different reasons. My Festool sanders are awesome. But I also need a cordless sander. I don't understand why its so hard to make a cordless orbital. The 1st generation Milwaukee sander is so out of balance, big and bulky especially for smaller hands, poor dust port design and vibrates so badly it jumps all over leaving pigtails everywhere especially on start up and shut down. I REALLY hope Milwaukee got it right this time. Please do a review of the new sander. Will buy it in a heart beat if it's a decent tool.
I also have both brands but mostly Dewalt and I don't have much complaints. That being said, dust collection on the Dewalt is a complete joke. If I was more into woodworking, my choice would probably be Makita.
@@MrArcticPOWER You're not kidding. The Dewalt sander would be fine if it didn't have that stupid proprietary hoes connection. And if they would just put a check valve in it like the old Porter Cable sanders had to prevent all the dust from empty back out of the dust bag through the holes in the pad. Can't tell you how many times I made a huge mess in some ones home because of that. Last year I did an entire stair remodel in a client's home and managed to keep it dust free right up to the very end. I loaded up everything, grabbed the DeWalt to go in one last time to sand flush some plugs. Turned it on and a huge cloud of dust shot out, more dust than the whole 3 days put together. Dust was everywhere. That was the last timed I used it. I really hope this new Milwaukee will do the job.
Looks nice, but I probably won’t be buying one any time soon. Bought a very similarly designed Bosch cordless sander with 2, 4-AMP batteries, no charger, for $149 on sale. No bluetooth either, but they do hook up to my cordless shopvac, just have to manually turn it on. I do like Milwaukee and have a lot of their cordless tools, but $200 for this sander, bare tool, probably pass. Thanks for the review, though.
With a 3/32" (2.38125mm) sanding stroke, it's going to vibrate less than a 2.6mm stroke (DeWaLT), but it's going to take longer to sand. Still, that's an improvement in sanding power over Festool's cordless with a 2mm stroke.
Im concerned about that battery weight position. How does it handle with say a 6 or 8ah? I also think i might miss the variavle speed dial. Doesnt seem like you can easily set the speed with one hand while sanding.
I see your concern - I’ll check it out when i review it deeper. My initial thoughts are that It doesn’t need a big battery - it’s fine running the smaller ones
I am seeing battery sitting back farther. The video shows that balances back towards the battery weight when on the table. I would think this would lead more fatigue? One other thing I noticed when they were showing vibrations. Look and compare where th3 support string is located at.
I feel like these style sanders are all aimed at builders & handy men . I own a tonne of makita and Milwaukee tools. But it will be dark day in hell before go near one their sanders. If you spend the bulk of your day sanding go Rupes , Mirka or Festool.
They released something that actually makes sense, this type of tool needs to be perfectly balanced and there is no place for a battery that wouldn't make it unbalanced. Not to mention the weight etc
I am sorry Rob, but someone shafted you on their new microphones. Absolutely horrible audio. Again, I apologize for the condemnation but the audio is unrecognizable and you usually go above and beyond others. I didn't even want to watch the rest of the video. Again I am sorry for the negative critique.
It’s so loud there that it’s difficult to get a good recording I will see if I can play with the levels on my mic to make them better. Thanks for the feedback
@@davids8493 David, your comment got me curious, so I started looking at my microphones and I did some testing. The microphones are fine. I think the problem is when I use iMovie I’ve been clicking a box to reduce background noise and that seems to be distorting our voices a little bit. When I don’t click that box, you hear a voice is fine you just also hear my background noise I think next time I’ll publish without clicking on the box. Thanks again.
@@ConcordCarpenter we expect to have to deal with background noise. We know that you are not in a professional recording studio. It is a battle. Thanks again.

This is a way better sander than the Gen 1

@@ConcordCarpenter I hope so. Please do a proper review of it if you can. Your videos have been so helpful these last few years
Dude same! Thank you for saying that I hated the gen1 and eventually the orbital part broke and it would just spin a million miles an hour haha

Great innovation in the connection to vac, about time all tool brands made it standard built in.

5ah max,
Please do a head to head against the bosch and Makita 40v when possible.
Glad to see this tool. You guys need better mics!
It’s insanely loud there - I’ve tried to reduce the background noise
I'm happy to see a new Milwaukee sander, just not sure what I think about cordless sanders in general especially if you're vacuum sanding.
I use my sander with the bag more thaqn the vac

I thought so but when I used it, it was really comfortable
come out date ?
Nov. I think
Finally an upgraded sander, now use the dewalt, the dewalt lasted 3 years then the motor died

Festool are you watching?
Hmm looks more comfortable right of the bat then gen 1 . How do you get invited to pipeline events
I do tool reviews ad report on tools, so they invite me to cover the tools
Shame that makita cant release something like this, they just released a corded corless sander..
Agreed

soo...its Bosch GEX 18-125 but with twice the height and twice the vibrations 😅
@@ErtsenPlayGames great sander!
Hopefully Milwaukee innovates their sander and doesn’t just release a straight copy. Maybe less vibration and/or more power ?

Looks like they copied the Bosch design. I’ve owned the Bosch 5” sander for years. The best sander I’ve ever used.
mirka has the best sanders, makes the bosch look like's a kids toy
i use it for both handyman work and autobody and it works great i have m18 model
@ promo130 Does Mirka make cordless sanders? I can’t find any.
@@k1_w3 no

we let the new guys use the Milwaukee sanders because they're the worst.
