That description of a TIE fighter is head on. In the canon novels and shows there was even a Grand Admiral, Thrawn, who decided to make a better version of it with shields, more cannons, and a hyperdrive. The original TIE fighter doesn’t even have shields or a hyperdrive!

It was the last mission in _X-wing_ . And the simulator version of the mission lets you use a B-wing instead of an X-wing even though those weren't fielded yet.

That described above but it also has its own version of a battle system and similar things, such that the intuitive basics may be similar or the same, but you'll still have a learning curve when it comes to combat

There are many videogames sagas that deserve an honest trailer, like civilization, eve online, sid meier alpha centauri, crusader king, sim city, etc, and they still do several times lame or not popular enough ones

I've been asking for Honest Trailers for Age of Empires, Heroes of Might and Magic, and Civilization for a while now! They did an HGT for Warcraft III Reforged, which was a piece of crap, when they could have done one for AoE II DE, which was really good.

It will never cease to amaze me how Disney screwed up every single aspect of Star Wars, including awarding the gaming license to EA alone. Since 2012 EA has done almost nothing with one of the most lucrative licenses in the world. Good job.

@@imacsgaming7900 in the game your ships laser cannons have a 600 to 1000 range. In VR its harder to fight at 1000 thanks to the blurr

Funny... this is the most fun I’ve had playing Star Wars in a loooooong time.
Yeah it sounds like the guy who made this vid must suck ass at this game and was really salty. The story's really bad, but the game itself is phenomenal. I got it recently after a friend pestered me to - this is my first time playing a shooter style game since Halo Reach came out, I've never been a big fan of shooters and all that. But hot damn this game is phenomenal, and I don't even have a VR headset or joysticks or anything, just a controller and headset.

If you get a chance to play it in VR, it's the difference between an alright 6/10 and a mind-boggling 9/10. There's nothing cooler than looking over your shoulder seeing your wing shot off and then facing forward to see your blaster fire connect and destroy the guy you've been chasing all match!!
@@blaster915 Having only played a couple VR experiences & Beatsaber I can totally see this especially given that you don’t have to move much irl in this game to still feel like you’re immersed in an all-out space battle.
I’ve been wanting a VR set for a bit now, and this game and Half-Life Alyx just make me want one more.
@@blaster915 I've played it in VR and for some reason, it made feel nauseous really fast. I have played tons of Elite Dangerous in VR and have never had that feeling. I don't know what it was about it but I couldn't play more than about 45 mins before I had to get off. I've never had that problem in any other game other than Dirt 4 and that was only when I would hit the banks (so quite often).
A lot more objects are in your field of view. Rarely do you find yourself fighter in an asteroid. You develop a bit of sensory overload and nausea due to your brain tracking more objects. Play a couple of rounds of CQB in elite it will serve as warm up

Hey my 1998 Sidewinder handles this just fine. It's the only thing that does from my Gateway. Also, the Imperials totally owned the Republic in the campaign and it's great.
Un popular opinion but Dice fixed battlefront in 2019 and it was actually good. I still play battlefront 2
Honestly. When VR headsets are $299 now, it's the ultimate gaming dream of mine from the '90s come to life. And worth every damn penny

The energy management system of the X-Wing games made me think "Oh, this is what R2 units do. All that 'More power to the forward shields' stuff makes PERFECT sense now." That is kind of a mild miracle of game mechanics design perfectly connected to a tie in license and its inner workings. It ENCHANCES the rapid fire technobabble dialog of the films, and highlights how well thought out the Star Wars universe was in the first place.

As someone who has played this with HOTAS... HOTAS was obviously a complete afterthought with this game. This game was designed to be played with a controller.

Unpopular Opinion: Battlefront 1 and 2 were absolute masterpieces that get a lot of unnecessary hate and despite minor flaws the game had fantastic controls and game play and phenomenal graphics.
Battlefront 1 suffered from a lack of content, but game was still great.
Battlefront 2 suffered from loot boxes, but once that was fixed it became the go to starwars game.
So much unessessary criticism.

Check 4:48. The 180 turning on a dime. I have never in my life seen worse flight physics in a game.
What's missing is, "Play on Pilot difficulty, and roll over everything in your path. Play on Veteran, and prepare to get no less than 4 X-wings constantly turning your unshielded TIE-flying ass into confetti."
