I’m a retired morning radio cohost. I was on the air in upstate New York for almost 30 years. I’m not sure how easily AI can replace morning radio shows , but If you are a midday DJ or a nitetime one…can you say “Paper or Plastic?”. We already saw how radio companies have jumped on voice tracking.. For those who don’t know what that is, they bringing a DJ and have them pre-record just the intros and Outros to songs, and maybe some one minute chatter breaks, and they can record an entire four hour show in like an hour. But do they get paid for the four hours? Of course not.! Plus, they now have DJs record multiple shows that way or maybe for other stations that they own, in the building…so they save tons and tons of money… So just wait till they get their hands on A.I. And it’s a total travesty. If a Dj’s voice is being used for four hours, whether they’re there or not, they should be paid for it, and they should be paid separately for every station that they do or every shift… Their voice is their product…. It’s an insult to their talent… And it takes talent to get behind a microphone and speak coherently. End of rant…. I’m so glad I was in radio when it was great and now I’m out of it because I would be pooping in my pants right now.

I work in Radio as a DJ and am the production director in a medium/larger sized market in California.
In regards to your question, will radio stations use GPT Radio?
Will it save station owners lots of money? Question answered with a question LOL

Please do take a look at Davinci Resolve. Would love to see some videos about improving Audio for RUclips in Resolve

Davinci Resolve is not (yet) accepted as an industry standard DAW which is what I’m focusing on on this channel

AI can't do "20 Steaks For $40" meat truck remotes, so we're safe.

ive been using txt to speech (mac) since i first started my station in 2010 - i just think its a bit of fun and adds different voices for jingles during the shows - i also use other tools to create voice jingles and pay for voice artists to create some of the jingles - i think variety is great, Ai getting more natural, as long as it s bit of fun then im all for it :) - but not really interested in long shows with any voice regardless if its real or an Ai - great show - thanks

If its anything like what voiceover artists are dealing with, chances are, they are not getting permission from the radio hosts to make this new AI voice. Probably just grabbed recordings of DJs and the AI is blending it all together. How natural it sounds is the real challenge.

    • @MikeRussell

Very true. But it's becoming more natural

I’m sorry - but they’re not gonna give two shits how natural it sounds if it saves them money

After the whole Waves debacle I'm also questioning subscriptions. It really is a greedy business model.

I have always had Logic Pro X and made the switch to it from Audition CS6 when Adobe implemented its subscription service.

Waves are continuing the old model alongside the subscription model.

    • @MikeRussell

The Creative Cloud model allows for all the updates as long as you subscribe for.

@@MikeRussell but Waves perpetual license means we still pay for WUP.
Adobe Audition, Illustrator and Photoshop will keep me subscribed for now but having to pay for software I never use is pretty sleazy. As a matter of fact I struggle to think of any individual who can offset the monthly cost by using all their audio and graphic apps. The little guy loses out.
